          • Weekend Masti

Just got my first service done on Saturday and went for a 80km drive after that. Posting my feedback about the service center and the bike

First Service (Shri Seva Service, Wakdewad, Pune):
Gave the bike at 8, got it back at 12
Told the service representative that I have two issues with the bike
            1. Oil indicator keeps blinking (Even tho there is enough oil)
            2. Nasty vibrations in the frame at around 4k rpm

Now the bad part.. None of the issues were fixed.
After picking up the bike, drove hardly 1km to the fuel pump and the oil light was blinking again. Vibrations still tingles my knees when they touch the frame

Now it gets worse – had a pillion for the first time after picking the bike. Had to rev it a few times to get clear of the maddening pune traffic.. Now I turn the throttle (between 5k and 6k rpm), bike just sounds louder, but no noticeable acceleration solid depressed at the end of the ride.. decided wait till the run in period gets over before I try that again

Between the lack of acceleration with a pillion and the jerky low end response, the drive left a bad aftertaste

Now the highlights of the weekend
            1. Twice people have pulled up along side while driving to give me a thumbs up and say nice bike - pretty unsafe, but left me with a smile on my face
            2. Random people start conversing with me about the bike at petrol pumps/chai stalls/parking lots
            3. Now the icing on the cake - A traffic cop pulls me aside at a signal to talk to me about the bike Asks me which bike and about the acceleration/top speed. Now what do I answer??!! Said I had the bike only for 2 weeks now and haven’t taken it over 60 yet

By the way, spoke to the service guy about a few modifications. He said changing the headlight buld would void warranty on the battery. Changing the pilot lamps to LED/another color is OK..

I face this stuff in bold...till date after 9 months of my Fazer....when she was new this was common everyday till the time I didn't got my number plate(high security one)...cops use to stop me and ask about the number plates then eventually ask about the bike....don't know why because Fazer is already there in the market but still.....

                  • Hi to everyone out there.. I have been following the thread from the start.. Had a chance to see the bike in flesh @ Vishak bajaj in chennai.. Black and blue was available for display. I kinda liked the bike but waiting for red and yellow after which will decide about the color and planning to get the bike by next month end. I have doubt regd the tank part. Whether we will be able to use the magnetic tank bag because i felt it as plastic?? really a gem of advancement from bajaj ...

1 Whats the ideal speed for running period of bike.
45-50kmph with 6k rpm for very short time occassionaly
2 At what speed with which gear.
                      48 @ 6th is ideal
3 whats the RPM if we start the bike first time in morning
less than 1.5k! using choke is not a problem at all!its function is only to alter the air fuel ratio

I well be very thankfull if some help me in this.

if you are sure of it.. then go ahead.. make the beast look even sexier..!!

Yeah! I am gonna buy white LEDs tomorrow... Will get it at <80rs!

in showrooms, the DTSi is semi synthetic.. I am not sure how many showrooms have fully synthetic.. my dealer was like.. sir.. it is engine oil.. and all are the same.. so, careful with them!!

Hmm! So, DTSi oil is not that bad during run in period after all!

if you are following manual run-in.. stick to 48.. but.. I will tell you what I did..

stick to maximum of 5k RPM till 500kms.. that will come around 55-60 kmph in 6th gear.. because babying the bike for 2k kms will spoil it post running in.. so.. a big no no..

stick to your natural driving style.. just don`t rip it.. don`t cross 6k RPM till 1000 kms.. accelerate in short bursts.. and in a gentleman-ish way (atleast initially!)..

so, sum it up.. stick to less than 5k RPM till 500kms.. accelerate in short bursts.. don`t ride for very long stretches (more than 40kms).. @seniors: please correct me if I missed out anything or said anything wrong!
