  • Guys, had been to Leh and I would like to put some of my observations quickly ...

    • In 5th & 6th gear within 5K to 6K rpm range, bike jerks (discovery).

    • Low engine oil indicator comes up even though oil level is adequate (discovery).

    • Brakes. They saved me from a near to death experience. I would dare to say that they are on par with R15.

    • Seat. Absolute delight. Though not completely saddle-sore free, but a lot more comfortable.

    • Same is with riding stance.

    • Overall performance on highway is more than satisfactory.

    • Handling so confident inspiring that I myself did not know when I left my comfort zone and started hitting corners at high speeds and low leaning angles. She made a corner junkie out of a tourer. Mind you, all this with a saddle bag and a backpack tied up on it.

    • Bike (being naked) suffers a lot of wind resistance and high speed runs (post 115) become little difficult.

    • Fuel efficiency takes hit due to above problem. My FE was almost close to CBR250R on highways. At high altitudes (post 10K) you see more drop in FE.

    • Tyres have excellent grip on dry roads, good grip on wet roads, no grip on muddy / gravel / sand surface.

    • Altitude sickness depends on air density at the point of climb a lot. I faced jerks and breathlessness in bike while climbing Khardung-La. But while climbing Chang-La, at one point, bike just stalled and would not start. When tried after 10 minutes, bike started and climbed well.

    • Rear suspension is little hard for off roading. Need to check at what level is the current setting.

    • Got to test radiator fan due to continuous 1st & 2nd gear riding and exhaust fully merged in water in various water crossings.

    • Front disk pad completely burnt and caused damage to the disk plate as well.

    • Chain became very loose resulting in a lot of noise and a jerky throttle.

    • Rear mudguard became loose.

    • Some radiator fins are bent. Need to check if they can be straighten up without any damage.

No plans of writing travel blog yet. And that's why putting it shortly here. Also posting 2 of the pics. One was taken on GT highway (close to Ambala) and there other was during Chang-La climb on our way to Pangong. Enjoy!

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

The fuel pipe is in knots. get the bike tank opened and lifted up, straighten the fuel pipe and then get the tank set up.
          That should resolve the issue

@RahulBarik.. don't know about the coil capacity but it is good as light stays on for a second or two after switching the key off.

@shibadip same problem faced on 2k rpm, guess it is a flat spot, i feel engine is lugging at 2k rpm so i always take the rpms close to 4k rpm before upshifting gears so as rpms never drop below 2.7-8k.

Should i adjust the afr to a little richer or accept that this bike is not to be driven like that.

            Thanks.

            • will anyone care to put info about first servicing charge?
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
              #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

My NS used to idle at 1300 at cold start, but after oil change now idles at 1000 at cold start. In the morning it wouldn't idle without giving little throttle. When warm it idles at 1200-1300. But from stand still, it starts moving easily @ 2000, if the co-ordination of throttle-clutch is perfect (I can't manage this always in traffic ). I have many times started from standstill it in 2nd gear on flat roads in traffic without raising rpm beyond 3000. Once did it in 3rd gear as well by mistake. I feel bike lugging only if rpm drops below 2000rpm. I mostly drive keeping rpm within the range of 2-3.5k

OK i have one issue that after the rpm goes beyond 3.5k then there is sound from engine which is like "sewing machine", you know like "kat kat kat". I hate that sound. Is that a tappet noise?? It was started only after 200km on odo. Initially engine was butter smooth.

Another thing is my rear brakes are close to useless. Have to press hard to get any breaking. Whereas front breaks are prompt. Any idea why so?? Anything wrong with break fluid??

One more observation. I hate the mirrors on NS. They are not as good as they should have been. Can't get good rear look. Are they made up of flat glass and not the usual concave mirrors??
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

When you call them for appointment do ask them that you want to pour your own engine oil and not the DTS-i oil, see what they say, if they are OK with it then take 2 bottles of Motul 3100 gold mineral oil, its the best mineral oil you can get.

                      Do post your experience......
Just checked with the SVC people they do not allow anyother engine other than DTS-i oil.

But since these guys service Ninja / Duke i will go here only as they will have better mechanics to service the NS.

                          • Guys plz help me out !!

my idle rpm is set to 1.5k from day 1....
during the 1st service i complained abt the morning start problems, that the bike has to be revved more otherwise the engine turns off....
yesterday i got back my bike after the service.....
now morning starts are fine !!
but i faced a new problem...
i rode hard for abt 10 mins, when i came to rest in the traffic signal, the rpm raises slowly to 3k while holding the clutch. whithout accelerating i slightly leave the clutch then it came back to 1.5k, then i put neutral and again it raises to 3k rpm....
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO ?
also another doubt i have is,
CAN YOU GUYS RIDE IN HIGHWAY WHEN THERE IS CROSSWIND ??
                            i felt terrible
im 5'11" and 80 kg, i cant control the bike atall....
im not feeling confident enough with the bike to throttle up
is that me or anyone else experienced this ???

                            • well the reason i asked for servicing cost is because at svc in front of me a ns owner was charged 1200 rs.
i enquired about the high servicing charge, the reply i got is somewhat like this
                              il-a whopping 850 rs
a' booster' as they called it was being added to engine oil.
                              oil filter 90 rs.
i didn't bother to ask about the rest of the charge.
