for cleaning and lubing i never had to pay.but it seems norms are different with duke,if you insist on motul then you have to pay, that is acceptableOriginally posted by devil_rider View PostI don't remember the exact bill right now but they charged me for 1400ml only.
I bought the lube because i wanted Motul only. I guess you will have to pay for that.
.
but when cheap subsidised kerosene and tvs tru-spray is there ,i would rather not look at motul.why don't you do lubing at home?and the question remains why do i race?

are you sure Bajaj people are allowing other brand's oil? many riders have reported that they are not allowing any other brand. Kindly confirmOriginally posted by devil_rider View PostInitially the svc guys were not having anything except Bajaj DTSi oil.
Then we spoke to them about Motul and they were fine with the grade and viscosity of the oil. So now the KTM SVC are themselves providing Motul to owners who are willing to put that in the bikes..
NS owners can do the same thing

You got to pay all the same, whichever oil it is. It would be awesome if they allow to use motul oil.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postthey allow if you are lucky enough and also paying for the oil.
I had sent mail to BAL so more than a week ago regarding this warranty and engine oil issue. Still have got only "we are working on it" reply. That to today after I sent reminder to them.

see bajaj will insist on using dtsi,i don't see any harm in using it upto 2000 km.and the question remains why do i race?

Yep I know its inspired by z1000. It was only for those who found the 200ns a copy of fz!Originally posted by Rahulbarik View Postits not actually a copy of ns
its inspired by its elder sibling z1000... Kawasaki already sells bajaj bikes in some countries under its own brand name... In indonesia pulsars are called kawasaki rouser(lol..funny name...rouser
sounds like vi*gra
) who knows, there might be even kawasaki engineering inside the NS... Go through this articale from bsmotoring...
Yep...rouser

Poor guy! and rascal SVC.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postwell the reason i asked for servicing cost is because at svc in front of me a ns owner was charged 1200 rs.
i enquired about the high servicing charge, the reply i got is somewhat like this
il-a whopping 850 rs
a' booster' as they called it was being added to engine oil.
oil filter 90 rs.
i didn't bother to ask about the rest of the charge.

I do the cleaning and lubing back home only. It's just that I don't have a paddock stand so thought its better to save the pain and get it done from svc guys. The problem was i forgot to take the motul clean and lube which i bought and so i had to pay for that.Originally posted by sayank10 View Postfor cleaning and lubing i never had to pay.but it seems norms are different with duke,if you insist on motul then you have to pay, that is acceptable

BTW... motul chain clean and lube are way better than anything else available.. The cleaner works like magic. Trust me, it's worth the money.
Motul 7100 was also recommended in the manual so the svc guys had to let Duke owners use it.Originally posted by ankur2smart View Postare you sure Bajaj people are allowing other brand's oil? many riders have reported that they are not allowing any other brand. Kindly confirm

If you know the correct grade and viscosity then you can switch to others oil as well

I am 5'6" and can punch a weighing machine to just 51-52 kilosOriginally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostI am 5'11" || 64 Kgs.
And yes , the bike does sway a bit in crosswinds. That's because of its naked design.
+1. Try this...the best way I figured out is to move my butt backwards till it touches the lower portion of the pillion seat & grip the tank with my thighs. This posture will aid to get more control of the bike & also increases the fun factor.
. I ride a Pulsar 150 and you can very well understand what my situation would be during crosswinds. I agree with Sayank on not fighting the crosswinds. Slow down sufficiently so as not to get into panic moments.

Like throttle cable getting pulled with clutch wire?? Does this happen while riding as well or only when standing still??
i dont think its coz of twisted clutch wire, coz even when the bike is in neutral clutch released, the rpm increases with the engine roaring sound, as if im accelerating
it happens only when the bike is at stop !!
@sayank Plz Dont mistake me, are you sure its normal?

be prepared to get wobbly feeling when some big vehicle passes by you as they momentarily block the pathway of wind blast and then release it again.
if wind tries to tilt a bike to oneside don't resist it.yes i tried this and i was able to control the bike, thnx guys !!Originally posted by nishant.sukharia View PostI am 5'11" || 64 Kgs.

But when i rode, the wind was at an angle partially cross and opposite to the riding direction !!
the bike dint accelerate after 112kmph in 5th gear, i changed to 6th gear, the speed dropped and maintained at 106kmph

the engine felt powerless
IS THIS NORMAL IN ALL NAKED OR IS IT SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT MY ENGINE ??
but, when i turn around and ride in the wind direction, i touched 144kmph before braking....
im scared coz my old bike classic cbz ll hit 110kmph even during heavy winds....
i dont knw wat to do, coz i need to take my bike from coimbatore to chennai (500+ kms) in a couple of days...
is it an engine problem ???
help me guys

As per normal Physics, a Naked bike will handle Crosswinds [aka sidewind] more efficiently than a Faired bike, and NS due to it's weight will be more stable than (say Duke).
The difficulty it faces is coz of the Head wind due to aerodynamic drag..sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.

Hmmm...the speed must not drop that drastically & definitely not decrease when you switch from 5th to 6th ; I mean this can happen only when there's a cyclone right in front of you...Originally posted by vis View Postthe bike dint accelerate after 112kmph in 5th gear, i changed to 6th gear, the speed dropped and maintained at 106kmph

maybe there's some problem with the bike...
By the way , did you opened the throttle completely when you were riding in the direction of the winds when you hit the 144 kph speed ??
If yes then there's definitely a problem with the bike...I am not good in physics but here's what I think :
Case I : While riding against the wind :
The speedo should indicate a top speed of about 145-150 kph under normal conditions. So if the winds decreased it to 106 kph while riding against it , let us assume that the speed of the wind was 150-106=44kph.
Case II: While riding in the direction of the wind :
Now , as we have assumed the speed of the wind to be 44kph, then in this case the speedo should indicate 150+44 kph !!! or atleast more than 150 kph under totally opened throttle (assuming that you did this*)...
Conclusion : From either cases I think that something is wrong with your bike ; not necessarily the engine dept. though...
Did you do any modifications on your bike ?

So what do you suggest for lubing the chain? Any other product or any home made method?Being best is not about beating everyone. It's about how much you learn from others and make yourself even better
