Bro this is almost insane comparison here!! You can't compare NS200 with a Swift which is 1200/1300cc engine with 200cc.
it doesn't makes sense any where!! Top of it Swift has more kmph to it after the top end of NS200.

Yeah there would be a problem with air intake or carburator where some combustion issue would be there!! Else NS200 can do 120 any time and later it goes 130 or 140 gradually with wind factor acting to it. NS200 going over 120kmph would totally depend on winds and roads type!! But ideally it should do 130kmph atleast without any hesitation!!

Suddenly felt like I knew more about the 200NS than those guys! The thought scared me, and I felt what would these guys have done to my vehicle had I not been there to WATCH the first service! It just shows how incompetent a few of these servicemen are, and how it's all clear why many people here on this thread have complained of new problems creeping up after the 1st service is over.
Frnd! U don't know how the bike is handled by service guys if the owner is not there - the bike is dragged around even though it is engaged in gear, the gear lever pushed up and down without engaging the clutch (just because they have to lift their hand and press the clutch lever!), washers/nuts/bolts left out if they cannot figure out where it has come from the engine. My policy always has been NEVER EVER leave the vehicle with the mechanic and get any thing done in my presence only. That may be the reason I never faced any problems so far with my bikes for last 30 years - started with Bajaj 150, then RX100, then HH CD100, Splendor, RD350, Pulsar 150.

        • Clicked the first ever photos of my 200NS (pardon me for the crappy pics, they are clicked from cell phone). Heard a little vibe noises from the fender. Should I go ahead with changing the oil to Motul from the default DTSi oil in the first servicing? If yes, then which one to go with? Still riding below 4k RPM with 352kms on the ODO.
Had to submit my bike today for registration. Will get it back on Tue/Wed probably with the number

Seems I am getting a pretty decent mileage. Had filled 5 litres of petrol on when it hit reserve and rode for the past 287kms till I hit reserve again enroute to the show room.

          • As mentioned earlier I have crossed 2000km yesterday and also changed the engine oil (castrol GTX 20w50), engine oil filter, had the chain slack adjusted(had to force the mechanic to do it the right way as he was too lazy), and after that covered about 300km till today evening. Even after such long non-stop trip and thrashing it most of the time with excessive gearshifts and throttle pinned up to the red line, the engine was very responsive and vibes have almost gone.

I wonder how you even were able to hear the engine noise at that speed as there will be a lot of wind resistance due to be bike being naked. To get to the top speed of 135 or so it does need all the favourable conditions which we would rarely or never be able to see on our roads. The bike is all about acceleration and not top speed. It is not a tourer or a sports bike either, it is a street bike. I would like to know why you compared the ns with a car like swift or xylo.

It is a fact that our 200ns would be out-performed by most of the entry level cars, but what it should compared to would be an r15, cbr150, duke, and even cbr250, and when you do it outperforms most of them on the street and as well on the highway.

              • Hi Guys,

This thread is rolling at the speed of light and it has become really difficult to keep a track of it
Great Work and thanks for sharing so much of info!

I have had my Bumblebee for about a little more than a month now and got the first service done few weeks ago.

As on day, i have done abt. 1300 kms and still driving at under 4k rpm. (Now driving with under 60 kmph in mind).

The bike is running fine and giving me a mileage of 42 kmpl with clockwork precision with complete city driving only (Read dirty Bangalore city traffic)

I wanted to know whether i can run the bike at a higher speed already or do i have to wait till 2000 kilometers - as given in the bike manual??

There is a lot i want to write about my experience but would save that for a little later.

                Thanks as always

My favourite thing is to go where I have never gone.

Riding is not about destinations, it's about journeys.

No Do not go for Motul just stick with the DTSI Oil - Let the Engine Run in complete; the best time to switch over to Synthetics is over 2000 or 3000 on ODO,(The later is Better) Till then stick with the Mineral Oil....
Well that's a Good mileage figures you are getting are you riding it in below 50ish???

forget a litre class,a humble ninja 650 r is enough.
btw sensible riders and drivers always maintain a speed between 90-120 kmph on highways with occasional outbursts on long stretches.
roads are not there to be ruled.

I also disagree with you when you say cars rule the highway. I would also like to end this ot but before that I would like to ask how you felt on a highway on your 200ns at speeds around 100+. At those speeds I would be very careful as some cars drivers to tend to drive rashly, personally I think anything above 110 on our highways with lots of truck, buses, and other large vehicles is irresponsible and that is the reason most accidents happen.

I was going to office a couple of days back on my NS, the road is just a two lane and poorly maintained with some patches of the road where the road was cut into half by rains and flushed into the side-by canal, a guy in a renault duster was blowing horn like crazy. there was no where to go, there was no place to stop either since there was an rtc bus in front. I was already doing about 70kmph, which was fast considering the terrain, so I decided to slow down, the car went by, laughing at me. Then while he was trying to overtake the bus with same arrogance, suddenly he realized there was no road for him to overtake, so the car went flying into the ditch. He was not hurt though, so everyone around who stopped left him to take care of himself. But he should be also thinking of something like, what if there was a large truck in front instead of the ditch with equally arrogant rider. You could be never too careful.

The point is roads are meant to be used, not ruled. If you want to rule the road, have one built for yourself. Remember, everyone pays road tax to use the "well maintained" roads, not to rule.
Ride safe and let others also ride safe.

If you still feel cars rule the highway, there are other high capacity, larger vehicles there on highway with drivers who are drunk and also think: buses rule the highway, or trucks rule the highway.

If you ask me, its perfectly fine to compare a bike to a car. It's common man's point of view. But, what's the 0-100 of VXI? and VDI? I'm sure 200NS can give the swift a run for its money in those figures. Secondly, 200NS is capable of doing 120Kmph at drop of hat and can go upto 156+ as well, though at much slower pace then the swift. Infact on open highways, I was able to keep up with a fortuner, to an extent that the driver was so impressed, that he actually asked me later, "which bike?" "very good, very good"

Its always better to open up the engines. If you are comfortable right on from 1300Kms you can take the bike to higher RPM, provided the engine is hot enough (atleast 8kms of riding).
