yesterday i got back my bike after the service.....
now morning starts are fine !!
but i faced a new problem...
i rode hard for abt 10 mins, when i came to rest in the traffic signal, the rpm raises slowly to 3k while holding the clutch. whithout accelerating i slightly leave the clutch then it came back to 1.5k, then i put neutral and again it raises to 3k rpm....
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO ?
also another doubt i have is,
CAN YOU GUYS RIDE IN HIGHWAY WHEN THERE IS CROSSWIND ??
    i felt terrible
im 5'11" and 80 kg, i cant control the bike atall....
im not feeling confident enough with the bike to throttle up
is that me or anyone else experienced this ???
your ideal rpm seems more than good,if you ride for sometime the engine reaches its operating temp, hence the rise in rpm.

    crosswind riding tips:
grip the tank with thighs at knee recesses.
move back a little and crouch.
    don't change direction suddenly.
be prepared to get wobbly feeling when some big vehicle passes by you as they momentarily block the pathway of wind blast and then release it again.
if wind tries to tilt a bike to oneside don't resist it.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
    #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

If the rpm is increasing only when you pull the clutch then could it be issue of tangled cables?? Like throttle cable getting pulled with clutch wire?? Does this happen while riding as well or only when standing still??

Can't comment about high-speed riding. Havent got any chance.

      oil filter 90 rs.
i didn't bother to ask about the rest of the charge.
Thanx for the heads up. When i will go for servicing will tell them to pour only oil with no additive. DTSi oil is enough crappy in itself, no need to add any more crap to it..

        Hi,

The svc charge can also be if he opted for an expensive oil. He might have put in Motul FS oil, so, the rise in charge.

2nd service cost for my Duke was Rs 1700 something which included oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cleaning and lubing of chain.

+1 on this reply. People having issues of increase in idling while pressing clutch, can check on this. Throttle cable might be getting pulled along with the clutch cable.

I remember someone asking mileage figure on high speeds.
I get to ride on highway during the weekends, my usual speed is upwards of 127. And i get mileage around 30.

no he didn't opt for motul fs oil,he was an average joe.
apart from 300 v factory line i don't think anyother motul fs costs a whopping 850 rs.
they are not supposed to charge for lubing and cleaning chain

              I am 5'11" || 64 Kgs.
And yes , the bike does sway a bit in crosswinds. That's because of its naked design.

+1. Try this...the best way I figured out is to move my butt backwards till it touches the lower portion of the pillion seat & grip the tank with my thighs. This posture will aid to get more control of the bike & also increases the fun factor.

                  41.62 kmpl with 90% City || 10% highway riding.
Keeping the speeds between 40-60kph & short bursts once in a while.
                  Mostly with a pillion on-board.
                  Total weight on bike = ( 64 (me) + 68 (pillion) ).

Guess you haven't really been following the thread, have you??

Many have reported their mileages here. People are getting 30-55 kmpl depending on riding style and conditions. Typical city ride seems to give 40-45 easily and highway ride should give around 50 or more.

I don't know how much oil does the NS need but the Duke requires 1400ml... I used 7100 FS and the Seawoods SVC in Navi Mumbai charged be for that only and i didn't have to buy 2 bottles.. it came to around 1100-1200 for the oil.

Lube and cleaning is free only if we carry our own Lubricants and Cleaners.
At least that's what the seawoods svc did..

NS needs 1.2 L oil. I don't think SVC would allow to switch to any oil other than DTSi for NS. Someone confirmed that when he asked to one svc. I'll be asking the same for svc here. For Duke i think they are allowing other oils. I doubt most of them even stock other oils.

Initially the svc guys were not having anything except Bajaj DTSi oil.

Then we spoke to them about Motul and they were fine with the grade and viscosity of the oil. So now the KTM SVC are themselves providing Motul to owners who are willing to put that in the bikes..

NS owners can do the same thing

I don't remember the exact bill right now but they charged me for 1400ml only.

I bought the lube because i wanted Motul only. I guess you will have to pay for that.
