Last time my fan worked was before first service, now I'm on 1600kms and never saw it working since then ,although I've touched 130+ speeds and never felt engine to be heated too much
Guys ,just tried to check engine oil via the window in engine chamber in R.H.S. side of engine, and I didn't find anything in it,it was like nothing is there. ..? How to check my oil level then. ./

Completed 1000 kms. First servicing was done at 600 kms.

Here is my experience. Though I must mention that I have ridden it mostly below or around 50-55 kmph/ 4k rpm with afew times reaching 6k rpm. So I am putting my views accordingly.

      My likings-
LOOKS: Its a looker and I like every bit except the look from back.
HANDLING: a very good handler. It feels good in corner, although I have very little experience to say anything about cornering.
BALANCE: quite good till now. feels in control even from as low as 5 kmph and onwards.

      What I didn't like-
      1. Low end torque: doesn't feels like a 200 cc engine below 3.5k rpm ( read lower rpms). Every vehicle on road felt faster than me. Waiting to complete the run in. Till now what I have felt is it hates traffic, manytimes I have to ride in 1st gear when speeds are below or around 10 kmph.
      2. Noises: krrrr type sound from chain, lubing the chain does help a bit. And a sound which resembles to some sort of vibration ( not the console or fairing one). Its frequency increases with increasing revs. Also it diminishesh substantially when I put my finger on clutch lever.
      3. Snatchy fueling in between 3k to 4k rpm range. Can be easily felt in higher gears.
      4. The exhaust note sometimes feels like a auto riksaw. May be as i m riding it below 4k rpm.

      Other things-
      1. Vibrations and smoothness: I feel vibrations on footpegs and sometimes on handlebars and near the thighs. It increases when the engine heats up. Also they dimishesh at 4k rpms, haven't ridden post that extensively. So saying anything more would be too early.

      2. Fuel efficiency: till now I have got between 42 to 45 kmpl in mixed riding conditions.

      Few pics

      I have some querries.

      1. I am listening tappet noise ( sewing machine type sound) which are more audible when engine heats up. Should I take it to service centre or should I wait till second service.

      2. I am planning a trip of around 250 kms day after tomorrow and the ASC mechaninc has filled the engine oil in excess. Oil is well above max mark. Would it do any harm to the engine if I ride with this level.

      3. Also as I have completed more than 1000 kms I was thinking to opening up now. How should I do this. I mean what rpm should I maintain/expose in every gear.

      Waiting for suggestions.

        1. Tappet noises are no problems at all. It's common with SOHC setups. In fact tappet noises mean your engine will rev more freely at high rpms. Set the valve clearances too tight and your engine will be lazy. Sounds weird while running but you gotta live with it.

        2. Drain out the oil and fill back exactly 1.2 liters. Too much of it is not good in the long run.

        3. Keep your revs below 7k rpm or top speed of 105 km/h. Even if you exceed that mark, do so for a few seconds only, after the engine is fully warm. And don't rev like you're in a race. Ease the rpms to that mark, enjoy the sound and let engine braking do it's job when necessary. Keep varying your speed. Don't stick on to 70 km/h for the whole journey. Give breaks of 5-10 mins once every 40-50 km for now. After the run-in, you can ride as much as you want at a stretch. I did 245 kms without switching the engine off even once, but after the run-in period.

Even I didn't notice it. I got these stock along with the bike. I dont know why they had changed it. I think the RVMs doesn't come prefitted, they fit it at time of delivery ( correct me if I am wrong). May be by mistake they replaced it at time of delivery. Nevertheless I will ask them to change it to the original ones. Or should I continue with these?

And regarding the oil, i will change it but my querry was should I go for a 250 km one day trip with this excess engine oil or should I postpone it.

They made you a fool, showroom ppl does it every time, they change tyres ,and other accessories and make ppl fool who doesn't check while taking delivery ,same happened with my friend who brought a dream yuga, he was given tvs tyres while yuga comes with mrf ones,so it's mandatory to extensively check things while receiving
And only saree guard and leg guard doesn't come prefitted ,nothing else

Hmm. I will take back whatever they have changed. One is RVMs. What other things they can change. Pls let me know, I will check it and in case they have changed it, I will get the originals back.

Also I forgot to mention that in 1st service (done at ~600 km and now have ~1130 km on odo) they filled 1.43 ltr of engine oil ( as mentioned in the bill) . When I asked them about it they told me that extra is for soaking of oil filter. I thought they are trying to make money so mentioned 1.43 instead of 1.2 and making excuses but it seems they have really filled more, thats why engine oil is well above the max mark. :banghead: .

Btw is it really necessary to put some extra oil to soak the filter?. If yes then how much?

No extra oil is required. All the margins are within the recommended quantities.

                  • Re: Pulsar 200 NS

If you fill only 1.2 ltr.s of oil, the oil will hover around minimum oil mark.. To get mental satisfaction ...it should be between min and max mark .. So if we fill 200 ml extra.. It comes right at the middle of glass window.

While too little and too much - oil.. Both are dangerous, a little extra oil is not harmful at all that is why there is a range provided minimum and maximum.

It all depends on the personal preferance of mechanic/owner.

What is more important is that whatever level you maintain it should not deplete..and stay as it is for entire 5000 kms service interval.

                    I normally use 1300 ml.

It's harmful to run excess oil especially on these long rides. Too much oil results in lot of foam being produced in the engine. This wears out the parts relatively quickly.
Take care of the engine in the initial stages.

It was filled of metal chippings and metallic dust.Previously the mechanic told me that i am wasting my money because oil change should be done at 500 km but when he drained the oil he got little surprised to see the condition of oil and oil filter. Then i asked him if engine oil was good for another 300 km ? He said no, its finished.
