    the engine felt powerless
IS THIS NORMAL IN ALL NAKED OR IS IT SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT MY ENGINE ??
but, when i turn around and ride in the wind direction, i touched 144kmph before braking....
im scared coz my old bike classic cbz ll hit 110kmph even during heavy winds....
i dont knw wat to do, coz i need to take my bike from coimbatore to chennai (500+ kms) in a couple of days...
is it an engine problem ???
    help me guys
Well just because you go to higher gear doesn't assure you higher speed. It all depends on RPM. For eg if on 5th gear you were on a normal RPM, let's say 6-7 then change of gear will result in reduction of RPM which will automatically reduce your bike's speed after a min or so.
You must have seen people suddenly increasing the bike's speed in traffic to overtake. They do it by shifting one gear(what I Do) down which gives them more rpm resulting in higher acceleration for few seconds. My personal experience:
My frn was riding my FZ on NH & I was sitting as pillion. He wasn't able to make the bike get past 99 KM/H. When we changed places i Took the very same bike to 109 KM/H . The reason being is that he shifted the gear at very low rpms in high speed.

I hope you understand my point. I may have gone totally off topic but who likes to delete after writing so much

i dont think its coz of twisted clutch wire, coz even when the bike is in neutral clutch released, the rpm increases with the engine roaring sound, as if im accelerating
it happens only when the bike is at stop !!
Its definitely cos of a tangled throttle cable. I had the very same issue on my earlier bike - P180. It'd start revving everytime i stopped the bike, and even moreso whenever i'd turn the handle to the left side at any traffic junction.

The deal was that everytime the handle was turned to the left the throttle cable was stretched further resulting in the revving.

Don't sweat! its a minor issue and will be rectified within 5 minutes by anyone, infact you don't even need to go to the svc.
      respect ma authoritae!!

yesterday i got back my bike after the service.....
now morning starts are fine !!
but i faced a new problem...
i rode hard for abt 10 mins, when i came to rest in the traffic signal, the rpm raises slowly to 3k while holding the clutch. whithout accelerating i slightly leave the clutch then it came back to 1.5k, then i put neutral and again it raises to 3k rpm....
WHAT SHOULD I DO TO ?
also another doubt i have is,
CAN YOU GUYS RIDE IN HIGHWAY WHEN THERE IS CROSSWIND ??
        i felt terrible
im 5'11" and 80 kg, i cant control the bike atall....
im not feeling confident enough with the bike to throttle up
is that me or anyone else experienced this ???
THIS IS FOR ALL THOSE WHO ARE FACING THE SUDDEN RPM INCREASE WHILE IDLING.

PROBLEM: The bike would be idling at 1.6K at one time and then at next stand still the RPM rises to 2.5k+. If you switch off and start your bike back up, it goes back to normal. This comes up when you are dragging your bike through heavy traffic on first gear with half clutch mostly. My bike had this problem right from the beginning.

REASON: Not sure but the idling pin setting has something to do with this.

SOLUTION (at least it worked for me): Warm up your bike well. Power ride is recommended. Your RPM should rise to somewhere between 1.7k to 1.9K at idle. At this point adjust the idling screw and set RPM to 1.5K - 1.6K. This problem should not crop up. It worked for me.

SIDE EFFECTS: Cold start problems might occur as the engines idling is set low. The engine might stall after 10 secs or so at cold start. At cold start engine RPM would be at 1.1K or near that.

WORK AROUND for side effect: While cold starting give it very little acceleration to keep the engine from stalling. Give enough acceleration to keep the Accelerated RPM at 1.5K. All you are doing here is substituting the reduced idle rpm with manual accelerator RPM. Once the warm up is complete go ride off!!!

          • Yesterday, I got my ride. I had an urge yesterday morning, went to nearby showroom and saw the bike in flesh, asked for quotation and was sitting on the saddle in the evening. Got it for 98000/- on-road.

The bikes performance is great, but only a few negatives. saree guard does not have foot-rest(my gf's complaint), so no pillion can sit one-side. Rear tyre was skidding too much on wet road. Rear brake feedback is not so good, but tolerable. no hook or any type of arrangement for luggage( I also have a fazer and found the hook under the seat very helpful.

The bikes acceleration was very good, ride was smooth unlike duke's, takes care of potholes well unlike duke. saddle is a little bit harder than what i am used to but not as hard as the duke. Overall a 70km ride from showroom to home was great and was home in about 1 hour even in the peak traffic time.

Overall, a value for money bike I have been waiting for.

The thing is there shouldn't be any Side Effect as you mentioned mate. Idling is and should always be a trouble free and input free thing.

Highlighted in your post is the main culprit. There is something seriously wrong with the new Pulsar setup. Umm, pardon me for going a bit off-topic, but having FI eliminates this headache.

Also, I believe the engine needs to settle down to achieve its 'Happy' state and to have an idling that doesn't make it roar/cry after some riding and neither should it cry/cough during the first start up.

It took me around 2-3 weeks time to find a perfect idling spot in my P150 for which it neither cries, nor coughs and dies. Also, it seems like almost all the Factory Setting points to a lean mixture and only a DYI or help from SVC is doing the trick. Can somebody confirm?

@SJagadeesh : Congrats on the new player at home. Well, this saree guard thing is a purely India based thing. Motorcycles are not supposed to be used by pillion in the way we use, i.e. by sitting one-sided. It effects the handling seriously and is dangerous too. May be Bajaj again jumped the time-line and bought something from the future again. (Yes, pillion sitting one-sided should be a thing of past in some 20-30 year from now). Also, since you have graduated from Fazer, how vibe free and smooth it is compared to your previous stead? Yes, this is illogical to ask, but still.

Many have reported their mileages here. People are getting 30-55 kmpl depending on riding style and conditions. Typical city ride seems to give 40-45 easily and highway ride should give around 50 or more.

                i have one more query,i am 5 7
will the bike be comfortable for me?
is there any vibes at high rpms?

@SJagadeesh: Somebody in the tread added a sareeguard with pillion foot rest buddy, just hunt it and you can ask him. I think small welding and a good painting job can solve your purpose.......Improvise!!!

well you may face a little problem due to your height. But it's manageable as the bike looks heavy but while riding it's not. Well as for vibes, I felt there were clear vibes as I come from Yamaha family(FZ 16). If you have ridden pulsar or TVS then it will be negligible for you.

yeah they should have made something like FZ. People would have got more reason to say that it's inspired from FZ

Yup.. The plastic covers are still on the Indicators, the tail No plate lamp, and on the saree guard.

Actually the bike has run just 43 kms in 1 weeks ownership.. The rain god did listen to my prayer on the day of delivery, but after that she is going with all guns.
