I Love this bike
Hi guys,
i got my yellow 200 ns 5 days back and im satisfied with the bike after riding 550+ kms.
rode on rain, sun, heavy city traffic, highway, hills....
touched 145 kmph on the second day in rain....
rode under 5000 rpm most of the times, (ie) under 75kmph
the bike feels so good and so happie that i choosed this over the other costlier low spec bikes....
the sound it makes when i twist the throttle makes me fall in love with it again and again !!
it has the raw power, so much juice in your right hand to extract every bit of it....
On the road, the rtr's , zmr's , fz's , ''OLD'' pulsars envy this bikes looks and power
despite being the best bike of class 150 cc,the r15's refuse to realize the truth and thought they r so powerful and a better bike than the 200ns....
i went near one of them in the signal, raised the throttle a couple of times, bingo !! got the racing partners
it just took 3 gears to make em understand wat p200ns is and realize that he's outdated with regards to power....
Pulsar has yet again standardized the basic specs of the indian motorcycle industry with 200ns !!
Now its time for other manufacturers to upgrade !!!
Although the vibrations of the bike becomes very noisy and irritating btw 4500 - 6000 rpm , this is the best buy so far in my entire life !!
Cheers fellow ns riders

hard gear shifts
Guys I've crossed 1000 kms on my bumblebee.Although the engine is still smooth after the service the gear shifts have become rougher especially when upshiftin from 1-n-2.The gears don't engage smoothly like they used to.Should I change the engine oil because the next service is at 5k kms and even then they'll only top up.Also a lot of vibrations are felt above 4.5k -5k rpm when riding with a pillion.
BTW here are a few pics clicked during a ride with @nitspeed200Last edited by MIDHUN94; 09-03-2012, 10:24 AM.

Did you get a chance to test on other bikes? Are they too facing the issue which you are facing?Originally posted by MIDHUN94 View PostGuys I've crossed 1000 kms on my bumblebee.Although the engine is still smooth after the service the gear shifts have become rougher especially when upshiftin from 1-n-2.The gears don't engage smoothly like they used to.Should I change the engine oil because the next service is at 5k kms and even then they'll only top up.Also a lot of vibrations are felt above 4.5k -5k rpm when riding with a pillion.

Try swapping the bikes to see if the problem exists with other bikes too, then you will have a clearer picture.

I've tried but the other bikes havent even finished their first service yet so i cant really compare. They dont face the issue yet.Originally posted by sree@mumbai View PostDid you get a chance to test on other bikes? Are they too facing the issue which you are facing?

Even I faced similar problem in gear shifting - specifically hard down shifts . Did you get your first service done from khivraj ?
My problem got solved after engine oil change after 1200 kms. Note : this is after first service I.e. my second oil change if it was really changed in first service .
Change oil and see the difference.

I don't think oil is the problem here. Changing oil every 500km is not an option. I also face the same problem with gears. My NS has clocked 700km till now and I had changed oil @370km. The gears were smooth only on first 2-3 day and never the same again. Even after oil change. Especially getting false neutrals between 1 and 2 is seem to be a generic problem as many have reported that issue here. First I thought its my lazy shifting that makes issue, then i thought may be my quick-shifting style is an issue. But trying with different styles, its all the same.Originally posted by ashu_nik View PostHi

Yesterday I pulled my NS out of parking area thinking its in neutral, and when switched on, I saw that the neutral indicator isn't on,
the gear was stuck somewhere in between neutral and 2nd gear. I always face this issue of gear sticking between neutral and 2nd, while going from 1st to 2nd. Its not lazy shifting for sure.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Not advocating oil change every 500 kms. In my case the gear shifts started getting stiff progressively after 1st service.and faced similar issue with my 220 3 years back. In both the cases I assumed oil was not changed in first service and hence the clunky gear shifts.. (dont want to mention the state of affairs at service centers here ) ..Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostI don't think oil is the problem here. Changing oil every 500km is not an option. Get oil changed to better brands (motul) .. and that should solve the problem as I have checked in both of my bikes.. the difference is huge when there is motul inside ..
Coming to your case .. first service done for your bike ? If not wait and see the difference after oil change in first service.. get it changed in ur presence only.
IMO there is no need to change oil before first service unless you follow hard running in process. The breakin process will still continue till block and piston are mated properly and it will still continue degrading oil till first few thousand kilometres ..

I changed oil to Motul 3000 15W50. Engine was too harsh and change of oil did improve it a bit, but no change in gear behavior.Originally posted by ashu_nik View PostNot advocating oil change every 500 kms. 1st service is due still. I will try and convince the svc guy that i filled in DTSi oil so as to avoid changing oil to DTSi again. But if he insists then I will get it changed and then will drain that oil after few hundred kms and switch back to Motul.
Still I do feel there is some genuine issue with the gear box. May be design issue, may be mfg issue or it could be just setting issue. Dunno what exactly. Will try to put forward a complaint to BAL if the issue not resolved after 1st service. All the owners of NS facing the issue should lobby together so that BAL will be forced to do something about it if there is indeed some issue. Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

Engine oil change won't give much effect on gear shifting problems, in fact your bike is new that is why down-shift is getting frequently hard... don't panic for this issue because after 1500+ KMs you won't face such kind of problems... and the gear shifting ll become even more smoother than any other pulsar segments.Originally posted by nilesh14587 View PostI changed oil to Motul 3000 15W50. I feel gearbox is alright . Improvement is required in shifter mechanism. The current one requires lots of effort while up shifting... increasing the angle of the shifter lever and the point where the rod connects.. objective should be less play while shifting.. That was precisely my point. Oil is not an issue here. Hopefully the gears will become smooth after some time. Still long way to go.Originally posted by manz46 View PostEngine oil change won't give much effect on gear shifting problems, in fact your bike is new that is why down-shift is getting frequently hard... don't panic for this issue because after 1500+ KMs you won't face such kind of problems... and the gear shifting ll become even more smoother than any other pulsar segments.
Well just for records, I am very happy with my decision of buying NS. Its a complete VFM. I have seen even CBRs and Ninjas having issues. So its ok to have issues, just that we should be able to find some solution so that we can make it even better.
