    • Hi guys m new to these forums n m pretty pleased to see so many guys still own a fiero n luv it, n i m one of them....

      I have a 2000 fiero n it has clocked 30000Kms.... replaced the fuel tank 6 months back due to rusting.... apart from that i hav never faced any major problems with my stead.... my usage is very low but i luv the bike i have recently purchased a suzuki GS 150R a couple of days back n m awaiting its registration..... but one thing i would like to point riding a fiero still gives me the thrill of speed n hence i m writing this cause i need help from u guys (who r xperienced bunch of u) i stay in mumbai n i need u guys to guide me for an experienced fiero specialist mechanic in mumbai who i can give my bike for a complete overhaul..... the engine has been opened only once ( for clutch plate change) n thats it.... the suspensions r dead (original Susp) both front n rear so need to change them too... n engine tuning is req cause it has never been done in the past 11 yrs....

      my regular mech is a peice of shit half the time i hav to explain how the thing functions n the suzuki SC have stop servicing fiero..... sooo bottom line 2 questions.....
      1) Should i go with the complete overhaul since i will be riding the bike mebbe once a week for 10-15kms cause my workhorse will be my new baby the GS 150R
      2) this is my dads bike (n he quit biking after a year he purchased it due to back problem) n i hav learned on this bike but mst important it still gives me thrill which no other bike in the indian market has given me.... so is the cost justified or m i being too emotional here......

      • Hey Nads,
        I welcome you on behalf of all my dear friends. Feels like very formal huuh!!

        Welcome buddy to the group. Good to hear you have a Suzuki Fiero & Congratulations on your new ride the GS.

        I also own a Fiero, owned a GS when it was launch (Suzuki guys took it back fom me)long story will tell you some time later when we meet since you are also in Mumbai. Currently I ride a ZMA R bought just last week.

        We guys here in Mumbai can guide you to a good mechie who knows inside out of Fiero. To start with, can you please put in some light on the problems you are facing & where do you live. It will be easy for us to diagnose the exact problem & advise you on your overhaul of the engine since you mentioned that you are not going to ride it for long distances.

        Lets meetup over a cup of coffee someday.

        Keep riding safe.

        Vishal

          Welcome to the clan bro,
          let us know what all problems your facing, all are experts here, trust me.
          NO OTHER THREAD HAS BRAINS AND JUNKIES LIKE HERE.
          Everything can be sorted out, your bike will be as good as brand new.

          @ gixxer an psr

          I understood how to close it (i am talking about the SAI), but what advantage will it have on the performance technically ?
          and can you highlight the modification needed to be done on the exhaust port ?
          I might consider doing it, doesn't seem necessary though.

          Besides, i am enlarging my combustion chamber (matching to the bore) as well as getting Porting done, in a few days.

          @ chief

          where are you ?

            Just put a pic of your engine here ,the pic should be a close up of the engine head near where the silencer attaches.If i remember correctly F2/FX have a similar set up to that of hero-honda/uni .

              What do you mean by porting? if you meant polishing it is a waste..if you meant enlarging the port size.....your bike will loose performance.Don't touch the ports.

                    @Nads

                    Welcome to the club ... let our experts guide you ... let's enjoy Fiero once again ... Just like me, cause I now have a greater respect for my 2001 Fiero after joining this club.

                    @NANOtech,
                    I'm around bro ... just slightly busy with office stuff.
                    I will try the green switch (cable) thing you told me next time I visit my mech... see if I can get my bike started without a battery.

                    @All
                    Some days my bike seems super smooth with smooth gear shifts and the engine purrrrs and feels so good ... while some days it does not feel so good ... I mean it feels more harsh and rougher .... is it the same for everyone?

                    • thx everybody for giving me such a warm welcome ... lookin forward to make my fiero as new as possible....

                      ok a lil background on my fiero..... its a 2000 model n as said bfore it was bought for my dads use but since he got back problems he rode it for less than 1 yr, n it was in the storage. At that time i was young n my dad didnt give me the bike, n i used to stay in coimbatore for my mech engg.... i use to come to mumbai once in 6 months n used to ride the bike n hence so low kms on the odo. for the past 3 years i hav shifted to mumbai n i hav started using the bike on a daily basis..... the reason i hav gone for the new bike is
                      1) i m huge (6ft 3") n the bike looks puny on me (though i like the power n the agility)
                      2) the fiero seat is not havin any mercy on my butt on longer rides (25Kms n above).

                      now to the problems....
                      1) the milage has drop considerably after the last servicing from my asshole mech.... occasionally the bike would choke like it was not getting any airfuel mixture i told the mech about this n gawd knows what the f&^%k he did it was working properly but my avg dropped like crazy n i m getting pathetic milage till date.... i asked him many times what did he do but that C&^%# IS TELLING "arre bhai i hav taken care of it y r u worryin" ( i think he has messed up with the carb settings n made the A/F mixture very rich) thats the time when i decided i wont be taking my stead to him ever again...
                      2) the bikes engine has been opened only once for the replacement of clutch around 2 yrs back apart from that i have never let anybody open my babys heart....
                      3)both the front suspension n the rear suspension r dead.... cause the bike behaves very skittishly while maneuvering n after riding my new GS150R even a noob can say the ride quality is worse of my fiero....
                      4) Electrical s needs to be checked n done very thoroughly cause 11 yrs have taken a toll on the wiring...
                      5) engine has to be completely overhauled n decarbonised and worn parts need to be replaced and new gaskets needs to be put everywhere....

                      these r the changes req if u guys think any other things r required please let me know n what will be the budget.... i will be keeping this bike only for occasional outing at the weekends mebbe ride the bike for 25 kms per week to keep it in condition.....

                      pls giv ur inputs guys n guide me in the right direction of fiero nirvana.......

                      • hey guyz, as soon as i filled in power petrol a few days bak, i notice the idling rpm to be about 200rpm above the normal when i engine is hot!! earlier when using normal fuel, the idling was 1300rpm, and now it touches 1500rpm!!

                        but i hv got to say, it makes ur bike smooth and gives u a crispy throttle response!!

                          I've read the above link given by you PSR, and its pretty much convincing that enlargement of port shouldn't be done.

                          But aren't we modifying the port entry instead ?
                          as far as I've known about this, we do something like this.

                                I think you must hear what I have to say about this, since I have a Fiero F2 too.
                                My bike developed a problem in the SAI when it was about 1 year old, and used to have air lock problems&everytime I would come down from 60-70kmph, the air would not get released through the silencer, and endup as a huge explosion!
                                It was really embarassing on the road&finally my bike's SAI was changed under warranty (original cost was Rs.670). Problem never occurred after that.
                                Now, with a faulty SAI if there was so much farting, I can just imagine how it will be without one!
                                Bottom line: Please don't get it done!

                                Now, what about the P135 switches&your big upgrade? Have you got it done? I can't wait to hear from you.
                                Quench my thirst with gasoline!
