  • hi guys. sorry for only showing up when i have a problem. as of now my carb is totally screwed. the bike just turns off whenever it wants. i guess its time to change it to the 1st gen pulsar carb. the last time i enquired, it was Rs2,300 something. a huge difference between pulsar carb and an original fiero carb which costs 5500.

its so amazing that all the fiero f2 owners complain about this thudding sound whenever the front wheel goes over a pothole!!! i know its the problem with the cone set. but my experience about this is from day 1 itself!!! now the cone set cannot get damaged when your bike is brand new and has hardly done 50kms!!

      • Guys... my front mud guard touches the leg guard whenever the bike hits a pot hole. This was not the case for a very long time since the bike has been with me for almost 10 years now. That is the khataaak! sound produced that I have been complaining about. The mud guard touches the leg guard which has left a rough spot on the black mudguard. The mech says there is no need to replace the cone bearing… just adjustments (which he did). Help and expert advice required here!!!

I suppose I might just go ahead and replace the cone set and see ...as I already have them. It's not too much fun riding the bike on roads full of potholes.

It can damage in first kilometer itself. I had this problem on my brand new ZMR and got it replaced under warranty.

I feel your springs are weak or oil level is not as recommended. But you say the fork is hard and bumpy so oil level question is not valid. Get your springs checked. Mud guard hitting leg guard has nothing to do with cone set.

          * Hope u don't have a huge pipe type leg guard. If that is the case increase the length of fork by half inch using heightner bush.

Like Shreeni Said, Check for the Front fork springs, even mine has lost its action much & with more oil It doesn't action at all & when fork oil level is reduced It just goes too easy & too low.

best bet is to change the springs & put required amount oil.

The OEM once costs as good as 400rs a pc & their is alternative for that as well, springs from NV agencies dont know if you get their where you're from, but this costs as low as 80rs a pc.

I am also changing the front fork springs in my next service..

If you guys feel like it,go ahead and change the cone set, after all it's your money.

It has nothing to do with cone set ,the problem is with the stock spring and the crash guard position on the chassis cradle.I had faced the same on my bike from day 1 too and once i changed the springs to that of pulsar,it stopped completely.
That too my bike has disc brakes at front with rear sets and upside down handle which puts lot of weight on the front end.Still my bike hasn't needed a front shox overhaul or cone set replacement.

The problem is the springs, get that right and it won't happen.

Forgotten it,you'd have to go for the first gen one and you'd better buy it from bajaj spares outlet/showroom.

no worries mate, will check it, If it is not too high Like Fiero OEM's I shall go for it, Else I always have the option of choosing NV ones which costs 80rs/Pc.

                        • I'm so upset, angry and so many more emotions going thru me for the past couple of days which I can't describe. I'm feeling so low and depressed.

My mechanic who regularly serviced my bike for all these years faithfully suddenly decided to stab me in the back... or strike when the iron was hot.

My fiero's been at Zen for the last few days and the initial diagnosis is that the valves were not changed at all. The camshaft changed by the mech is not genuine either. He has also jammed the carb screws damaging it and the Zen guys are trying to repair it. Moreover the piston has seized too, as per my latest conversation with the Zen folks.

I'm so angry i want to confront this mech. Want to confront him politely but i know its gonna turn sour in minutes. Another part of me says, let it go. So much for 4k i spent in repairs.

                          Curses on him.

Sorry guys, just venting. Apologies for the off topic post. I've taken so much care of her and it breaks my heart to see her like this. I've been foolish or naive and should have taken a second opinion when the mech suggested the repairs. My trust is broken and I'm bike-less for the commutes and have been driving to work since then.

Sorry to hear that bro,i'll go to ZEN and meet Mr Murthy .So what's the estimate of the damage?

It really is a sad thing that a trusted mech has done such a thing, most of the local mechs are like that and it would be difficult to make out what's been replaced etc unless the engine's opened up.That's the problem and the mechs take advantage of the fact that we may not be around when the work's being done.
