            • I remember someone asked somewhere as what problems would one face if we remove the bottom part of the chain cover.
I am running WITHOUT a chain cover from a very long time (stock F2 chainset).

All we need to do is grease/oil up and lube the chain more frequently, rest all is normal.
It works well, but by theory it does reduce the life of the chain and sprockets, however i think its better to get rid of the rattling noise created by the cover, even if the chain wears out soon, better replace it.
A friend of mine owns an FZ, and he bought this motul chain lube spray, was boasting as how it helps to increase the life of the chain, and so on.

It cost him roughly 550 bucks or something, he finished a can every 2 months (or less), i believe, get the entire assembly replaced after every 6 months, will save you more money than lubing it.

Anyways, i rode my bike after a century today.
              The ride was brilliant.
I did change the spark plug adapter to a cheap swiss one with rubber housings on both the sides almost a week ago, however it didn't rain much after that, i didn't have any wet riding sessions of my own, only dad rode the bike in rain since then, he says he didn't face any problems at all.
(maybe i am extremely unlucky, or the problem has really sorted)

1 thing, i realized this last time when i repaired the puncture on my tube, this is the 5th time I've punctured my rear wheel on the tube wall.
the guy says that it happens because you keep the pressure very low.

I generally keep 29 psi in the front and 32 on the back.
The tyre guy asked me to keep minimum 35 at the rear.
I am using dunlop monster 100/90 with a 100/90 tube (replaced 4 times).
              is he right ??

with 35 psi in the rear, the ride feels very bumpy.

              OT:-

Was having some INTERNET issues from last few weeks, hence i was mostly offline.
Final year in college has become very hectic...
No time to bike or to even talk about it now a days, my poor soul has become very busy
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.

              • Hello Gixxer_junkie...you've mentioned in your message that RTR parts can be fitted on the Fiero...can u please tell what type of parts u r talking abt?...I mean the core engine/gearbox parts?...please tell me...as I am only very recently into this world of bike mechanicals...but I can understand them...currently my fiero is leaking oil from the engine head and all around it. As a consequence, the acceleration is also sluggish...My mech said that lack of pressure inside the cylinder is causing it...and I may need to replace some parts inside the engine...I think he told that me that 'casket' or 'rings' need to be replaced in the head but I don't remeber exactly...

I also need to replace my Fiero's head light assembly...and the D-Fi LOGIC side panels...can they be sourced?. My Fiero is red colour...

If I can restore my fiero to absolute mint condition, I will never sell it...

                • @Gixxy. I spoke to the mech and he said that its not possible to source the front rtr180 sprocket and the rear rtr160 sprocket seperatly.

Ok, yesterday i did some sprocket calculations, and here were some results....
                  1) if i use the RTR180 chain sprocket assembly, I would get a 6.84% increase in acceleration, and the topspeed would reduce by the same percent.
                  2) if RTR160 setup is used, it would result in a 10% increase in acceleration and a 10% decrease in topspeed.
3)if at all the 14/44 setup is used, it would increase pickup by 2.3% and decrease topspeed by 2.3%.

If i rule out the 3rd option, which option should i go for 1 or 2??

Firstly, let us know how much does her odo reading is.Secondly ,tell us as to what the mech is saying needs to be replaced.
Regarding parts,RTR parts can be put on fiero, that is every damn thing! So don't bother going in hunt of fiero parts(mechanical/electrical).

For Fiero/F2/FX/A150 the modifications will yield:-

                    62mm bore= 175cc.(RTR160 bore kit)
                    62.5mm bore =177cc (RTR180 bore kit)

Don't rule out the third option.Try sourcing them individually, because i've bought sprockets individually from TVS and other ASS,then again,if you decide to get them from spare shops, they will give the 14 teeth one in place of the 13 one.

The numbers like 1 tooth,2.5 to 3 teeth,6%,10% acceleration etc might not seem like much here. But on the road, when you ride your bike, you'll feel the change dramatically.I am not exaggerating.

Now since my bike is quite old, i wont be riding her at top end speeds, even with the F2 setup i dont take her all the way to the topspeed. it always feels stressed out above 90kmph.... so if wit the rtr180 setup, at the most i would get a better acceleration in between gears.. And i dont redline my bike in each and every gear... in some previous posts u said there would be increase in vibs due to increase in acc, i dont usually cross the 5.5k mark while accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear...

Ok,then go for the RTR180 14/46 set-up.Don't blame me if the gearing gets short

                          F2 final ratio is 3.0769

                          with 14/46 it'll become 3.28571

What'll happen is your 4th gear will feel like 3d gear and 2nd gear will feel like 1st gear.If you are ok with it go for it.These are the ratios used in moto-cross races.Hope you got what i mean.

Try it out,if you don't like the change, then you can buy a 44 rear later.Buying a rear sprocket will be costly.
The GB sprocket 14 will be available and it'll be cheaper too.So think about it,if you try at spare shops ,you might find the RTR14.So another alternative would be to buy the RTR160 setup and then buy the 14GB from outside.

ya i understand the difference between these 2 setups... but if i buy a 14GB front from a spare part shop, it will be a locally made one and not manufactured by TVS.

You won't be able to use the 13/44 set up,so if you decide on 13/44,then you'd have to first buy the 14 teeth RTR sprocket from outside and only then you will be able to use it.

Not at all! you'll get OE ones too.
