    Hi

This is for those who crossed 5k & above kms in their gixxer.

I feel my gixxer's exhaust sound note has been changed to louder & even I'm able to hear noise above 50 kmph from my engine. I just want to know is this normal in all gixxer's crossed 5k & above on the odo. Going to cross 5.6k mark soon in just 4 months.
    Just follow my shadow.

Ok. I serviced my bike (1st service) at 870km. According to the service center next service (2nd service) is scheduled on 4000km. In between I am planning a pretty long trip (~1200km). So I don't need to change the oil during the trip I hope. Planning to do the service after the long trip (hopefully ODO will reach 4000km while returning). Correct me if I am wrong.

I simply asked this because mineral oils cannot withstand >2500 km under any circumstances. No company uses semi synth oils. That only leaves FS oils.
BTW, as satson said above, HMC says drain oil (mineral only) every 6k kms and top up every 2k kms and everyone knows how bad that idea is!

Hi Dynamo you seem to be lucky that d exhaust note has grown louder. I had stated earlier about my bike's note not being bassy like it used to.this happened after the 2nd service got over.bike is smooth but sound has mellowed down. Engine does produce sound ever if you cross 50-60 as you mentioned but gets smoothened once I cross 80. feel my friend's apache s note a lot meatier ever after 8k kms on the odo.

                Hi bro

I don't know I'm lucky or not. I was worried abt the grunt sound from engine as well as exhaust. Recently I went for a trip of 400 kms after 3 or 4 days I'm able to feel the change. But bike is so smooth... What's ur number in the odo ?

happens once you keep the bike in certain higher rpms for long periods while cruising. Could get rectified during the next service esp. with air and oil filter change. Of course, oil change too.

Forgot to add, the catalytic converter can also be cleaned to get the original sound back. There are at times smog(lead flakes mostly) deposited over it. But idk how feasible the process is and whether the company svc will do it or not.

Yeah planning to change the oil & oil filter in DIY method. I think this is not the right time for catalytic converter cleaning. At least min of 20k kms gap v should maintain. Definitely our SVC will not do this...
Also noted that our periodic maintenance list doesn't have carburetor cleaning intervals...?

Are you using stock engine oil? What's the ODO reading on your bike? Thanks...

Who would aid in the catalytic converter cleaning.will the SVC guy get it if I ask him to.also I feel it would be too early as bike is relatively new.I have covered about 6.5k on the odo and have stuck to stock engine oil.been tempted before to try synthetic but after reading in this forum thought of playing safe.

Guys Ive heard some people complain about rusting of fuel cap, front forks and water entering the fuel tank of the bike and the poor quality switch gear especially the engine kill switch which is getting stuck sometimes. Are these just a rumor or is there any truth?

Yes. I'm using stock engine oil. My odo reading is 5.6k & 4 months old bike.
