200NS to RS200 is not an upgrade. you wont feel much of a difference.

Since it has been almost a year since the launch of the RS 200, I would like to know about the bike wrt to long term use.
To owners of the bike who had bought it last year,
    - how well has bike served you?
it served me the best. i have never been so happy riding ever. it fullfills all my needs. iam one hell of a satisfied customer. i travel mostly by NH and little inside city and very little in bumber traffic.
    - how would you rate the build quality of the bike in long term?
build quality is good if you are gonna maintain periodically and also its very cheap when compared to other brand maintainance charges. but damn u will never get satisfied with any of the svc available anywhere in india for bajaj. let me tell you one, there are hell a lot of complaints but nothing is major, all just ignorable and get u will get used to it. running in period decides ur bike's long term future if u r planning for very long time.
    - how would you rate the engine refinement and performance of the fuel injection (throttle response)?
damn... the best engine i have ridden. its so refined and will provide you proper acceleration when in need. there is no stop to ur bike till the engine cut off, it will go linear but still there is no place where u feel lack of power. even though if u feel lack of power just reduce one gear and bam u will cruise along. u can drive all day in 110 to 125kmph... even after that there is no stress on engine, but will start consuming more fuel. best thing is there is no heat issues reported as of now. i hope it has one of the best radiator.
    - how well does ABS perform?
abs saved my life three times... i have been in late 120's suddenly something shows up in between... guess what, there is no wheel lock up, short braking distance, steering in control during very hard braking, rear use to lock up sometimes but its very very managable, u wont feel the lock up at all, but when u come back and see the tyre marks in road, then only u will feel that u have been very hard. all these are for single abs, i am imagining how well it would be if its with full abs and traction control.
    - how well has the service stations helped you in maintaining the bike?
this place i want to give u negative verymuch. if u r passionate about ur bike, u will learn to do it yourself or else u should have some local mechanic who listens to u a lot and will work on small small things. bajaj service- sucks...

I know these are very particular questions, but answers to these will really help me in making the decision.

I would classify myself in the "sport tourer" category. I love riding fast on the highways and I also sometimes have to ride 50+ kms daily for work or social commitments, and my bike is my primary means of transport. As such, reliability of the bike and performance in traffic and free roads are equally important to me.
for me its been this bike everywhere, anywhere and whenver. no other mode of transport. u will definitely like it. by the way, if u r short in height, then will feel little tough to ground this bike. i am 169cm height and my both legs wont land flat. only toes for both the legs together. weight is a pro, according to me bcos i ride mostly in NH and there lot of windblast and it really helps to be in a straight line in very high speed. i rode entire chennai floods and monsoon in this bike and it gave no troubles whatsoever. tyre grip is good, best thing is the twin projectors, very bright. it gives almost equal to hid with a normal halogen. just imagine how good it will be with real hid. night travel in this bike never needs any additional lights or modification, its already bright and i mean it, no other bike comes this much for even a comparison.

Any and all help is appreciated guys, I'm looking to upgrade before the end of this monsoon.
dude, seriously 200NS to RS200 is not an upgrade, RS200 is better than NS in everway, but still as far as my opinion u should wait for couple more months and then go for RS400 or CS400. if u donot have patience to wait, then go for any bike with more than 40 BHP... after riding NS with 23 bhp u will feel bore very soon and will find lack of power. RS400 or anything more than 40 BHP will show you new world in biking.
    please find my response inline.

Hey man, thanks so much for those inputs -
Just one thing more - I read the spec sheet and the lighting section says single 55w low beam and 60w high beam. Now since one projector lights up (55w) for low beam and BOTH light up for high beam, am i correct to assume that it would mean a total wattage of 115w? :O (55 low projetor + 60 high projector). Seeing the pictures here that seems possible

Btw, I guess I'm gonna wait, my NS after a little bit of investment on servicing should serve me well for another couple years maybe, then I'll probably get an RS400, who knows!
      Cheers 👍

Today i noticed that my windshield has started to crack from the screws side. Dont know why is this happening. I drive my bike only twice a week, condition is almost new still those cracks managed to creep in. Anyone knows what could be the reason?
Also, please tell whether i should change the windshield or not. Cracks are minor ones (only from the screws side).

Also, i want to ask that i have clocked 2035 km on odo. Why those viberations on footpegs(mostly on the right side one) are still there while braking and downshifting of gears. Otherwise, I am not even facing the vibrations between 4k-5k rpm mark. Can anyone tell me why this vibration problem started only after first service?

Guys please help me out on this.

I've managed to convince the SVC to offer me a replacement windshield as the original one started cracking due to the screws being too tight (their fault not mine). Try loosening the screws it should stop the cracks from spreading any further. The windshield does vibrate and if you loosen the screws too much there'll be a very annoying buzzing sound which will come from it.

About the vibes on the pegs, get them tightened (the bolts on the pegs). Tell them to check the chain slack, and also tighten the exhaust bolts (there are a few bolts on the silencer which tend to get loose over time). Hopefully that'll solve your issue's.

            Cheers mate!

One way to avoid the buzzing sound while not tightening the screws is using the two-way tape at the junction where two surfaces meet. This way, the vibes will be dampened out and the screws. Only problem, this is not a perfect solution. Every now and then, you would need to tighten the screws and they tend to loosen with time.

You're right. I had them install 3M double sided tape in the fairings around the instrument cluster, and that got rid of the vibes and the buzzing around that area for good.

Will try to do the same with the windshield screws and report back!

Left projector is the low beam.
Left and Right projectors together is for the high beam.
Left projector is of H11 projector type with 55W.
Right projector is of H9 projector type with 65W.

                  and answering to ur question,
Yes, for high beam, its both the projectors (55W+65W)...

also waiting for RS400 is really a good option as u r already fine with NS.

Where exactly did you install the 3M tape to avoid that annoying buzzing sound. I am too fed up of this buzzing sound near the instrument cluster.

You see there is a black part surrounding the instrument cluster. It meets the front fairing just behind the windshield at 2 places, and the left and right fairings at an angle just in front of the tank cover. There are slight gaps where this panel meets the rest of the fairing and due to this gap it starts to vibrate and make that annoying buzzing sound.

I gave it to the mechanic and he installed 3M tape into every nook and cranny in that area. I don't know if he did that to any other part on the fairing because I wasn't present there at that time.

Try and put the tape in those gaps as it helps reduce the vibes as well.

Let me know If you need pics I'll try to post them today itself.

An auto rikshaw swerved and made a sudden right without indicating while I was overtaking him. He smashed into me from the left side. Thankfully I managed to keep the bike upright (it didn't fall!) But took the impact on my left hand. My fingers are swollen and it won't go away. Will have to consult a doctor soon.

My front fairing, clutch lever, gear lever, upper left fairing and the instrument cluster surrounding plastic parts are damaged.

I was told the front fairing costs 4000 Rs. I don't know what else you need to replace, I'll be heading to the SVC tomorrow, I can check the price of some part if necessary.

                            Happy riding.
You know what I also met with a same kind of accident almost 2 months ago while a pulsar 150 dts I turned without any indicators while my uncle was driving my bike.
My bike struck with the bike first then with a wall nearby and then with a tree just near the wall my bike was badly damaged from handelbars to fairing to alloy breaking front seat bolts breaking...
But yeah the biggest contribution in this damage was speed.
We were riding in a speed of almost 110-120 kmph.

I had serviced recently in a bajaj showroom... I had put motul 7100 20w50 oil and motul inugel coolant expert... What surprised me is the bottle size of oil and coolant... 1.5 liitre bottle of oil and coolant bottle type... I searched online and nowhere I found this type... It's from genuine bajaj and KTM showroom and svc... So does motul have any seller agreement with showroom or svc to get bottle types manufactured specifically...

Suppose if its available online anywhere let me know, so that I can buy...
