Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Meant to post this earlier, but just got caught up in a lot of work.
These are pictures from a late-January trip to Sikkim. We'd initially planned to ride our bikes to Lachen in North Sikkim, but the locals warned us about there being too much snow on the road. Not a good idea on my Eurogrips, so we left our bikes at Mangan and took a taxi instead. Returned via the fantastic Teesta-Ghoom-Mirik-Naxalbari route.
Total distance was around 1,840 km, Kolkata-Sikkim-Kolkata.
*Incidentally, if anyone is riding between Kolkata and Siliguri, please feel free to PM me for an alternative route. The regular NH34 is a nightmare. Roads in Bihar and Jharkhand are beautifully surfaced in comparison.
Dzongu, Lepcha Reserve, N. Sikkim
Dzongu again
We didn't really get to use the sleeping bags. The hotel rooms were warm enough!
We unknowingly rode into Nepal briefly. There is an official border checkpost where vehicles must be registered, but the border is pretty porous and unauthorised entries (like ours) are tolerated.

The exhaust pipe is missing the nut provided to tune your carb. Its a 10 pt bolt if i remember correctly.Originally posted by Pulsaroid View PostDuring last ride I came to know that there was some part missing from silencer pipe causing weird noise. Can anybody send me pic of the part on your as200 and what price it may cost???

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Perfectly run-in engines with rev-matched shifting always (more or less but definitive) along with added feature oil (synth or semi) should give you 32-33 when ripping heavy. Under mixed condish i get 33-34-35. Once for a month tried it keeping it always under city limits and 55 on the highway, managed to get a little over 40.
take care of your bike as your beloved and yourself, bike will love you back in ways it can. keep away from mechanics you dont really really know.

1. Gears are really harsh. I can't really explain how much I got irritated with this.. When I try to shift I am getting sponge feel and gear is not exactly going to the slot.
And the first gear the lesser we talk about it the better.
2. I am experiencing a flat spot near 5k rpm.
PLease help me and forgive me for bad English.
Gearboxes on the pulsars arent race spec/tuned at the price we got it for. If shifting from a high gears to lower at real slow speeds, give a little race, i mean a brief nudge at the throttle with a little clutch decompression (not fully in and out), that way it wont whack it into place/slot harshly everytime. Always nudge the lever, no forcing shifting.
Flat spots can be caused by low compression/ bad fueling/ improper carb setting/ clogged fuel filter/ bad air flow. Clean the carbs and filters and rejett. should solve the case.

Rear tyre hugger seems a bit unnecessary as the mud guards on AS are already huge and sufficient. And what bags did you load up for the trip?Originally posted by deebee View PostMeant to post this earlier, but just got caught up in a lot of work.

No dude, stay calm and stand your ground as long as the fault is not yours.Originally posted by VaruaG View PostThugs everywhere! The moment they see a person on a handsome bike, they automatically assume 'Paise wala hoga...chalo luuto isse!"
Most of the time, the gathered crowd is also in favour of the conman/woman! Is the best thing to do in such situations is to pay and leave as quickly as possible?
My replies in bold. I share most of these myself. Do let me know if you could solve any of the above.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Somehow, it helps keep some muck off the monoshock. Last monsoon, the monoshock was caked in mud, but things improved after I got the hugger. Perhaps it stops some of the spray that would otherwise travel along the inside of the regular mud guard and get deposited on the monoshock... this is especially relevant at speeds upwards of 50-60 km/h.Originally posted by Anubhav M View PostRear tyre hugger seems a bit unnecessary as the mud guards on AS are already huge and sufficient. I use a Viaterra Claw. The knapsack sits on the tank (untethered) and has a strap which I secure behind my back.

Could you post some close up side view of the bike? I mean the entire bike not just the rear Tyre area. Wanna see how the bike looks with the tyre hugger.Originally posted by deebee View PostSomehow, it helps keep some muck off the monoshock. Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Guys i am planning to travel 1100km in like 24 hours without stopping overnight. Is it do able with this bike? I have done 4000km and on dtsi oil and will complete the 2nd service before leaving. What should I carry for the bike? Like for maintaince or emergencies.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Riding continuous for 24 hours isn't recommended in the first place. Fatigue starts creeping in after say 500kms. Its better to take rest and continue on the next day after a nice sleep. Carry essentials like clutch cable, accelerator cable, puncture kit(*depends where you are riding) etc.Originally posted by Anubhav M View PostGuys i am planning to travel 1100km in like 24 hours without stopping overnight. Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Hey guys, completed a short 200 kms ride this Sunday morning. loved every moment on the bike. Felt really stable, even at 130+ speeds. The engine just comes alive once it is properly warmed up and revved to the moon!
Zero vibes on the pegs, seat or panels. A slight buzz on the handlebars, manageable at best.
Gear Question:-
My gloves are killing me though! Any idea how long it takes to properly break in? I have a pair of DSG Revive. Also, suggestions for a good, affordable pair of riding boots with ankle protection?Last edited by VaruaG; 02-29-2016, 05:47 PM.

I remember one guy who did 1610 kms inn22 hrs on an RS200.Here is the link.
The engine is a gem and there won't be any problem with it.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
If everything goes well on this trip I might as well try for the saddle sore challenege 1600 as,this, guy in the, video. Plus i have not come accross anyone who has completed this challenge on an NS or AS.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostYes if your body permits then definitely you can.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Doing 1100 should not take you 24 hours, not advisable though. I did 940 in about 17 hours with a cpl of hours of breaks thrown in. So you should able to clock 1100 in about 19 hours. BUT it all depends on the stamina of the rider.Originally posted by Anubhav M View PostGuys i am planning to travel 1100km in like 24 hours without stopping overnight. Is it do able with this bike? Depends a lot on your route though - accelerator cable, clutch wires, fuses and you should be set to go. Mind my asking where are you planning on doing this distance. Folks here would be able to better advise from that perspective.
