  • Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences

Got my bike serviced today. Second service at 4400 kms. Changed oil and all the usual stuff.
The mechanic insisted on not cleaning the air filter and one another customer with AS also said the same to get it replaced directly at 10000kms. But after nagging him for a while he agreed to open up. My bike was stripped naked. Bajaj designers are retarded thats for sure. The entire fuel tank and faring had to be opened just to reach the filter. There are four screws on the inside were there is hadly 3 cm space. There is no way to use a screwdriver to open it so he used a plier to open them and in doing so scratched the inside black fiber.
To my surprise after doing 4400 km the filter was not at all dirty.
Finally decided that I will not be opening the air filter in the next service instead will get it replaced after driving adittional 7000kms.
I tipped the mechanic 100bucks just for preventing any scratches on the faring while dismatling and assembling all the fiber parts.
Bike seems to have become smoother with the oil change and all tiny problems recitfied.
I also got the bike wired for hazard lights and the guy installed a small toggle switch near the handle bar.

Is it possible to convert a 200NS to AS 200 ?
      How much will it cost?

The chassis looks pretty much the same to me. Could the reason be due to a difference in mounting points of the fairing that you say this bro ?

Chassis is a little extended at the front , for the fairing of course. With much work yeah it can be converted.

Haha naked bikes have their own charm.for me the most beautiful looking till 300 cc is NS200.I like the tail section specially.looks so freaking mean....
For faired I find r15 v 2.0 to be the best.although it sucks on power but for me that's the most handsome looking faired bike , even more than R1!
Coming to the front fairing the tank is a bit big and also there are couple of metal parts inside the fairing.even if someone succeeds problem will be front fairing rattling and handling.also the AS is pretty heavy on front .
So its a rough obr,not that it can't be done but to work it perfectly it needs a lot of things to be done

Well said bhai.. For me its the sexiest street fighter in this segment in the Indian market. I will be migrating to a round light set up with LED turn signals borrowed from the KTMs once I get the designs from my friend who is working on a sample setup. Of course, this would be done once I get all the issues of my bike resolved.

Absolutely you can. The sockets for the same are locates inside the front console. Just be careful when pulling the plugs out.

Could an ASian please post a pic here...

Got my AS200 in Red few days back.
Completed 400kms under 48kmph as mentioned in manual.
Today i opened up the throttle for the first time.
Reached 110kmph very easily in very few awesome seconds.
Instant happiness and for the first time I heard the top end sound of the engine.
I loved it. Acceleration was shocking and amazing.
Did not go further than 110kmph.
Was just a small 200m sprint.

                          Now resuming run-in period.
I am getting an average of 35-40 kmpl. I just love my bike:-).

The service time spanner icon showed up after 450kms.
                          Is this okay ?

                          Problems I face
                          - the fuel indicator sometimes indicates with errors. It just skips a few bars.
                          - the rear disc brake is not as responsive and does not give that much feel as that of the front disc brake. So I mostly use the front disc brake.
                          - the gear is sometimes stiff to change and sometimes very smooth to change. Don't know why it's stiff sometimes.

My wishes since this is tagged as an Adventure Sport
                          - I wish this had abs as an option.
                          - A beefier higher capacity tank.

I am not complaining at all. This is one hell of a bike and the looks and power just grow on me by each passing day.

Hi all xbhpians this is my first time i am posting on xbhp . I own a pulsar as200 and have ridden about 5k kms. I am facing various isuues after 3rd service .
                              1. My bike is sometime fells underpowered at lower rpm i.e 3to 5 k and speedy at about 7 k rpm. Co level is set at 1.7 so i think it's not issue with carb.
                              2. My fairing makes noise like it is buzzing.
                              3. "Click click " sound from engine head don't know why.
                              4. "Thud thud " sound from front suspension when in road bump.
                              5. Sometimes bike gives jerk while cruisng at 80 to 90 km/h
                              6. Sometimes bike make noise when i accelerate at 1st gear it's from the engine like metal is rubbing with some other metal . I told this to svc the said that it is common in both pulsar RS and AS. and they have mailed to bajaj but bajaj haven't replied yet.
And one concern .. is it due to spark plug that my bike is feeling underpowered or something else because my sparks plug were only cleaned at 1st service or low grade oil because svc mechanic poured castrol oil because he was not having bajaj 20w50 . I argued with him but he told me it is also good. Oil change at 2k kms. Can i switch to motul 7100 20w50. And the service centre guys are pathetic they says " bike chor jao 5 baje lelena". And when i decide to stay there they says "idhar mat khade ho waiting room me baithjao" as if i am going to steal his both kidneys.. ..
Please reply asap and thanks in advance

I think you should definitely complain this To bajaj.they have a toll free number.just Google it.this is not the way they are supposed to behave with you.
Coming to this its hard to tell.don't think its sparkplug because they last for a long time.go to a potent SVC and get it checked.tku current SVC doesn't seen To be good at all.also please switch back to dtsi asap
Bike is too new to try with different brand of oil
