Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
About rev limit , it's not possible to reach rev limit in top gear & some bikes have it from 10k to 11k rpm.Originally posted by Anubhav M View PostHey guys...
There were a few concerns with the bike on this trip if anyone could help with. On my way back at around noon there was not a soul in sight on the highway so I opened the throttle to touch max speed. I tried hard as I could but could not go past 10000rpm on a straight road with speed of 140. The rev limiter light did not come up. What could be the problem? Is it a sign of poor run in or something else? I had completely ducked under the wind deflector and twisted the mirrors to reduce drag as much as I could.
Also I tried the same on a steep decent from flyover and touched 154 and the rear tyre started to wobble a bit so I had to back off. Could both these issues be because of the extra weight or drag of duffle bag I mounted on rear seat?
Another issue I had was that now as the bike is closing 6000 km I feel I have to twist the throttle more than usual to achive desired speeds. In fact I had slight wrist discomfort as I had to sometimes twist the trottle as much as I could then bring the hand back to normal position and twist it more to achive max speed. Is this due to the bike ageing or maybe the throttle cable needs to be tightened?
About rear tyre wobbling , check the tyre for its speed limit , abnormal wear & tear etc . Try to keep the duffel bag balanced .
More throttle twist implies either cable is loose ,going to break or dusty air filter , low quality fuel etc
Hope this helps .

1. Best highway FE that I managed to get was 43.84 (calculated by Fuelio)Originally posted by Retro View Post1) Guys what is the Highway Fuel Efficiency of the AS200?
2) Is it lower or higher than the Fuel-injected but heavier (165kgs) RS?
2. Most RS users quote marginally higher FEIts the fusion of a two wheeled machine & a human being which creates a true biker.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Went to service centre today for issues such as power loss and hickups at high speeds . The issue was only with spark plug wire . It was bitten by my dog a month ago and i taped it and i thought it will work fine but it was faulty wire that was causing power loss...

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Hello Gang,
I got the first service done at Rolta Bajaj SVC in Kestopur, Kolkata on the 31st March.
What I complained about:
1. The sound from the Handle Bar Assembly when taking pot holes or steep bumpers at 30 km/hr.
2. Chain noise at high gear and low speed.
3. Rear disk break sound of pad rubbing against it.
4. The wiring that knocked out fuses.
5. Clutch and Gear, gear lever remains false when trying to lower gears from top.
6. A clinging sound when The bike is on idle.
7. Performance tuning is requested.
After Service:
1. I am still feeling that something is loose in the handle assembly. I get vibes when at 70km/hr.
2. Chain noise still there.
3. Rear disk pad sound still there, they had put water and it was not there when I took delivery. Later it came back.
4. Wiring was patched again. Roadside style Job.
5. Clutch feels better. Gears are sluggish.
6. Clinging sound not there but the engine sound ain't music either. Sounds like mini diesel locomotive engine with lower decibels.
7. Tuning is ok, it is neither for performance, neither for economy.
What is my feeling:
The bike when reached at 4k rpm it gives vibration, seems slugged and tight all the way to higher revs. It is smoother on revs below 4k. The sound on 3rd gears 4k is pure brute (sounds like benelli) but then when I push it or lower it, the sound becomes Vespa.
Stock lights are bad, I need suggestions on it. Also and very very important, the grips on the handle bar are giving me pain after 50 kms of riding. The seats and riding position becomes very uncomfortable after 25 minutes. I am 5'7" and 80 kgs and I need all you experienced riders advise on this. Rainy season approaches, do tell me all the dos and don'ts.
Cheers!

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Congratulations brother! Welcome to the hood.Originally posted by Kevin Russel Sequeira View PostHello folks! Just bought a black AS200 a couple of weeks back and I've clocked about 60km until now. Have a few doubts/queries and hoping to find answers for the same.
1. The tank seems to get scratched up pretty easily. Is this a common niggle or am I doing something wrong?
2. The tip of the 'R' from the Pulsar logo broke while wiping the tank with the cloth provided. Seems to be really delicate. Are these logos available as spares?
3. Would it be a good idea to change the tyres now? And would it void warranty? Mine comes with the dreaded Euroslip rubber.
Regards.
The tank is like Girl friend, just requires your constant attention. You have to give it her. Get a TefCoat done and do not wash with detergent after that. Wipe with Microfiber only.
Mine already on verge of coming out and it is been a month today.
I am meaning to change them too with Pirelli.
Advise:
Start the bike without any rev on idle in the morning for a minute before revving it. And keep it on idle for a minute at night before resting it.
Check for horn wiring not getting punched between the front left fork and the radiator frame. Will knock out the fuse if it does.
The ride has a lot of substance to it. It is balanced but requires your attention.
Safe Riding!

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Anubhav M to touch or cross 10K rpm you will have to redline in all 5 gears and shift at crazy speeds.Check out some high speed tests by iamabiker in YouTube.he does it for NS RS and there you can understand how it's done.
AS is front heavy, pretty heavy and comparatively the rear is light.so at high speeds and due to road not that much smooth it will fishtail.also at 154 the RPM increases.stock tyres aren't built to tackle speeds of 154.if you switch to better tyres like Pirelli Diablo rosso 2 or the metzellers then you won't have that problem coz those tyres have crazy grip levels.so problem is not with the bike but with the stock tyres.won't say it a problem as this is not the characteristics of the bike .saddle bags made it more planted if we're tied properly.
Since you are close to 6000kms the wiring has become a bit loose and also it's smoothness.take it to SVC and ask them to apply a oil in it.after that it would be good as new.also one thing you need to check.on the front of the throttle you will see that a screw is covered by a rubber.you can rotate it according to the required loose/tight of the throttle and adjust the play of the desired twist of the throttle.then you won't have to twist the throttle to that extent

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
In regards to Euroslip tyres. They are not so bad. They are built to last long, and the best thing about those Euroslips are, you don't have to worry about the tyres getting punctured. Offroad/Onroad these tyres can take a lot of beating before getting punctured. Helps me, "tyre puncture" is one less thing I have to worry about on a long ride.Originally posted by Kevin Russel Sequeira View PostHello folks! When it comes to grip, yes you do get a lot better options like the stock MRFs. Euroslips are - well they suck on lose gravel and are the worst on Wet roads. But on dry tarmac they are pretty efficient, have been in many incidents when i had to hard brake from 110kmph, those tyres did held their grip pretty well. Even I had thought of changing the Euroslips, but guess I have learnt to handle them now on almost all terrains.Last edited by Sal; 04-04-2016, 12:12 PM.It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!
