Well finally it happened what I was scared of.
I took my bike to the SVC to get the fairing vibration addressed. The guy opened up the fairing, put in some tape and screwed it all back. The vibration did dampen to a great extent and I was all happy and releived. Little did I know my joy was short lived. From the very next day itself the fairing noise has returned with the addition of earlier non existent noise which is all the more disturbing and the vibrations have spread through a wider spectrum of the rpm range.
As of now, really disappointed with the bike and might sell it if I get a reasonable price.
I've also written to Bajaj and the chances of getting any reply look bleak. Never should have doubted my idea of buying a Yamaha.
I understand your pain. I did something on the same lines today by asking BAJAJ SVC to take care of the vibes!
Initial feeling was good. My ever existent rear brake rubbing noise reducing too. But alas, joy was not to be had!

The SVC guy adjusted the clutch into an ON-OFF button. It's either completely off or on. Half clutching in traffic is completely impossible now!
Idle is super low, set to around 1000 RPM. Bike starts but stalls if throttle not held to supply revs. Bike shuts down in traffic when clutch completely pulled in!
A raspy noise now accompanies acceleration! Touching 4~5k adds a extremely harsh, raspy sound, like something is blocking the exhaust!

I never should have said a word at the SVC! and I thought Honda svc was bad! These guys were absolutely clueless!

You can try visiting other SVC if your problem does not get resolved. Selling the bike is not the perfect remedy. Don't leave the svc until you get it fixed. scold them, threaten them..... Well, if nothing changes...

Go ahead and sell yours if you couldn't live with that, but hey I warn you, don't ever pick that yamaha R15v2, for sure you will feel disappointed because it's one segment down and you will feel it's heavily under powered (if you have already explored the 200 to maximum). But R15 is a class bike, no doubt. Instead I'd advice you to wait for R3 launch, save money meantime.

Honda service is bad, but Bajaj svc guys are noob.
Set the idling speed to 1400 after a warm up in the morning. Don't use throttle, use choke instead. Adjust your clutch, you can do it or get to near workshop and do it till you find it suitable. Look, not all problems can be fixed in Bajaj svc, some local workshop guys are more clever and skillful in doing these stuffs. But never leave your bike alone....

Having a regular 9 to 6 job gives little margin to visit the SVC too often. But I'll try visiting some other SVC and hope this gets resolved. Thanks for the advice mate.
And yes I do understand that downgrading to a Yamaha will make me feel underpowered but atleast it would have some solid build quality unlike the flimsy Bajaj. Living with it is hard coz this is my first possession at my own expense and it is very heartbreaking and during any ride all I can think about is how it has been a letdown because the vibration noise just won't stop. I'll give it one more try this weekend and hope it sorts out.

What you say is right.but remember once you buy r15 than you will start thinking about power. It's the nature of human being. Once we get something better we don't go back to the one which is inferior to the current one. In this case power. Trust me you can live worth everything but can't live with LRS power. It well always be back of your mind. You can try the duke 200 or cbr250r

True, but D200 or CBR250 doesn't appear to be a good upgrade (24bhp to 25bhp), but okay if the new CBR250 is launched on the revfest as everyone's eyes are on that. It'll be so good for speeding and long tours. But D390 is one among my list (maybe in another few years ) as well as the all new upcoming twin cylinder Yamaha R3.

Meanwhile, my NS is more than enough to keep my smile up...!!!

Me either, sometimes 9 to 9
However, the build quality right from 200NS from Bajaj started improving positively. However not up to R15, but still I'd say my NS is a lot refined (engine wise) and quality wise when compared with old puslar gens. I hope the new AS200 should even be better than NS. However your case is one different story. SVC is your best bet. Don't leave them. Screw those dumb***

Golden advice mate. I set the idle today after riding for 4~5 kms to 1.5k. The plethora of issues started after 1st servicing! damn...
I'll adjust the clutch myself. Can't rely on anyone else anymore!

Has the exhaust note changed for anyone after first service? I know I sound crazy, but i definitely feel/hear a added exhaust-y sound on accelerating mildy!

I know how you feel. It may be that we were served lemons instead of bikes!
jokes apart, having a 12 hr job restricts your SVC visits to the weekends. The utter rush of ppl on the weekends makes it even more difficult for the SVC guys to give you attention.

But we shouldn't give up. I'm sure loads of kms and smiles are waiting for us on our ASs!

Ya quality wise no one can compete with Yamaha.that's why they charge a premium among also.but if your eyes are on duke 390 I would say wait wait for r3.

For my NS, I got it fixed for 650/-. At first neglected the need of it, but soon realized the need esp in a country like India we really need center stand. Also it's helpful to clean or check for problems yourself. However parking in side stand is 100% safe.

                            Hi everyone!

I'm from Calcutta (where I'm based now), but most of my riding experience has been based out of Bangalore and Goa. All it takes is the weekend, a working bike and cash for fuel.

I've had my AS200 for just over two months now, and am approaching 2,000 km. I've been largely impressed with the ride and handling, but the quality of parts is questionable (I knew what I was getting into with another Bajaj - my other bike is a Pulsar 150 DTSi UG1, 2004, 140,000 km).

The fuel petcock fell off within a week and was patched up with a copper wire at the SVC; from day one, there's been a strange beep-like sound coming from the front left (it's a periodic disturbance, which varies with road speed); there's also a strange thud coming from either the front suspension or the fairing on moderate to large potholes, even at low speed - I don't think the suspension is bottoming out entirely, though. SVC, here I come.
                            .
                            .
                            .
I have a question about the end of the engine break-in period - once I complete 2,000 km and get the oil and oil filter changed (and the strainer cleaned), do I still have to raise the revs gradually over the next few days/km? Or do I just whack the throttle open - which I'm tempted to do - once the bike is nicely warmed up?

I would be grateful if someone could guide me with the post-break-in redlining process, if there is one.

                            Thanks in advance,
                            deebee

PS - This is my first post on xbhp, so please let me know if I just asked an already answered question, of if this query should be moved elsewhere. Also, should I have introduced myself in more detail first? Here, or elsewhere?

svc can fix the suspension sound, I had that THUD sound whenever i ran over even a small patched road. For post run-in procedure, Don't redline at lower gears, instead increase your RPM range to 4-5K for gears 1, 2,3 and 6-7K gradually for the rest. Your engine has been almost broken up, so doing max rev wont damage it, but however to make sure the engine gets even more smoother, try opening your power band slowly but covering most of the range of your RPM (if you were running mostly on 5k rpm these days) to 6-7k gradually and after few hundred KMs, increase further. Just do it for the next few days or few hundred KMs, later you can ride as you wish.

FYI I did my post run-in till 2500kms. Now my NS is perfect even with dirty bajaj oil. Anyway Im planning for motul.
                                ride careful, cheers

It's just a bent, it can be fixed if you have some spanner. I once dropped bike while climbing, my gear lever got bent and was not even moving, the svc guy just did what I said earlier.
