Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Same way I drove.I m in 1400 kms and I change gears at 4,-5 k rpm. Occasionally take it to 6-7k rpm for 2 min and then would rest the bike for 5 min. Main thing is to not stress the engineOriginally posted by jbm_guy View Post

That is a AS150, it comes with a center stand and a kick start.Originally posted by vishandy2k View Post
Found a centre stand pic while browsing.
Personally feel the black one is the best

Bajaj oil drain interval at 5-7k kms? That's more than a FS oil. No, don't do that if you want your bike to last long. Bajaj oil's drain interval should not be more than 2-2.5k, at 1.5k itself you will start feeling the harshness in engine and vibes, the time when the Bajaj oil goes sour.Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostRemember, the drain interval of oil, esp Bajaj oil is typically higher ~5-7K Kms if you run at sane conditions, where as with Motul it shall be ~2-2.5kms. So Long life, average quality Vs Short life, best quality
Wait till 5K Kms bro, then get to Motul.
Regarding Motul oil, drain interval depends on what you are using, Mineral / SS / FS. Not a constant 2-2.5k - this drain interval is for a mineral oil in Motul. It's a lot like nuts and bolts - if the rider's nuts, the ride - bolts!

Yeah I know. I gave typical numbers. The Bajaj oil wont last and nobody is going to do that. But Bajaj recommends service Duke200 service period (2nd service) at 7000KmsOriginally posted by Sal View PostThat is a AS150, it comes with a center stand and a kick start.

which is pretty much assurance that Bajaj oil lasts longer Lol....!!!!

Yes, I'm taking it easy this time :P With my other bike, a Pulsar 150 UG1, I revved too high too soon, and ended up damaging the block/piston. Not again!Originally posted by jbm_guy View PostWell that looks good that you are trying to be safer than saying sorry.... I only changed it at 1st and 2nd service bro. But I still feel my engine is quite well set, but however the Bajaj oil is showing some signs, @4.5K to 6K in gears 2,3 the bike sounds harsh and little viby. However it gets smoother on higher gears. Once I commit the oil change to Motul, hopefully I expect these minor issues to be arrested. You don't need to change oil after your run-in as you may not benefit much, but there is no harm if you do and ofcourse if you dont mind about the cost

I intend to shift to Motul ultimately on the AS200, but I'm not so sure about 5100 10w50. Unlike what I've read online, my P150 becomes very rough with 5100, even when properly warmed up. However, acceleration seems marginally better than with other oils (though I could be imagining it, since the engine feels so rough).
I've found Motul 3000 Plus 20w40 much, much smoother than 5100, which goes against every other review I've read!

AS200 owners, what's your opinion of the stock mudguard(s)? I think the big rear 'guard is quite effective at preventing the spray from coming back on to the rider/pillion (as well as other road users), but it's rather useless at keeping the swingarm and monoshock free of mud. So I went ahead and got the 200NS' one-sided guard installed - the swingarm/monoshock are cleaner now.
It looks a bit ridiculous with three mudguards, though. Will post pictures soon.

Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences
Well a bit of disappointment. So finally changed to Motul 5100 after a month post my second service, was expecting something different, but instead I found almost 0% improvement from stock oil. Well, now about 30Kms on the oil and I have not found any different. Maybe my bike is already smoother and have no shift problems or my NS does not like itOriginally posted by deebee View PostYes, I'm taking it easy this time :P With my other bike, a Pulsar 150 UG1, I revved too high too soon, and ended up damaging the block/piston. .
. If 5100 isn't better, then 7100 isn't going to be any better. I'll drop back to stock after the drain interval....
anyway, will continue to monitor. The svc engineer told me that for certain engines the oil change does not respond any better if engine is already well set. But he also warned me sometimes the change in viscosity of the oil will cause excess heat. I just thanked him, because he did not threaten me like the usual bajaj service saying "You'll lose your warranty".... That's good... at least..

A lot of you'll will find this extremely strange & funny, but here's my past list of bikes:
1. 2009 Honda CBF-125 (Sold)
2. 2010 Yamaha YZF-R15 (Sold)
3. 2012 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (Sold)
4. 2013 Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (Sold)
5. 2015 Bajaj Pulsar AS200 - Taking delivery today
I'll explain more about this once this 'getting-bike-excitement' dies down.
I used to work at KTM and then Kawasaki Superbikes as Showroom Manager
for both brands in Indiranagar, Bangalore and have ridden superbikes
extensively for the last year.
My last 200NS has taken me places on all my long tours, last one being to Pune and back reliably and safely!
On the return leg infact, I did Pune-Bangalore in 12 hours.
Will give you'll more info later on!
For now I'm getting ready to run outta
office and take delivery of my brand new black Pulsar 200AS - NightFury III
Are the ergonomics/seating position/footpeg placement etc for the 200NS and the AS just the same, or is there some minor difference?

Although some websites claim that the seat height is 10mm more than the NS, I haven't felt that.Originally posted by HyperRetard View PostAre the ergonomics/seating position/footpeg placement etc for the 200NS and the AS just the same, or is there some minor difference?
Handlebars feel a little higher tho, so the riding position is more upright.A good rider has balance, judgment, and good timing. So does a good lover!

Seating position is almost the he same.Only seating height is a little tall which actually seems pretty nice.Originally posted by neoakshay View PostAlthough some websites claim that the seat height is 10mm more than the NS, I haven't felt that.
Handlebars feel a little higher tho, so the riding position is more upright.
Footpeg position is very comfortable.Only problem i have is the rear brakes are too high.I have to use brakes with toe which makes my leg a little go back and i dont like it.Although you might like your foot to keep it on the break if it permits you(Which i used to do on my old 180 and can use it anytime very accessible)
The feeling while riding the bike is pretty different.I mean unlike NS where its a naked one , this one has a front fairing which makes you feel very very relaxed and not in a hurry to go anywhere at all.Unlike p220 where it feels like you are about to go for a good sports commute,AS200 is more of a very calm and composed one.In other words because of the front fairing you feel like a Touring machine(Irrespective of city or highway)more than anything.
I like the bike.I mean it has almost everything one needs. Its a brilliant engineering by Bajaj, very simple, good balance, flicks well on traffic, manageable weight,Excellent mid range after 4.5K RPM,Absolutely vibe free at higher speeds....lots of pros. This bike is a just forgiving
I can only imagine how awesome it will be after i switch to motul
