      • Now I got to realize the worth of why they set GS break in such a way.

It was raining here at bangalore where driven my GS on rain almost 10 kms in bad, mud, watter clogged roads.

Breaks comes handy able to control the vehicle very well, but it all depends up on how defensivly we drive and the way we apply breaks.

Default Tyre grip is really good.

        Let me say about smilage
Am getting 45 or 47 kmpl as my driving goes with 1.5 ltrs per week

Roaring petrol price makes may soon make cost per kms on bike will go more than a diesel car

Being a salaried indian tax money goes to the crocodiles mouth automatically, and paying heafty amount for petrol. Where my poor terrorized neighborhood nation people are getting perol at 50% lesser price than us.m
Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity

          Dear Sir,

I was on a 180 kms trip today and after reaching home, came to know that one of the notorious, insane criminal terrorist was killed. There was vehicle checking by the police throughout the road, but thought it was due to the usual visiting of some jobless ministers.

Then was your posting noticed. I do not think this killing is putting an end to the butchering of innocent people worldwide, but thought that today is a memorable day and a day to be celebrated worldwide and it is now going on.

One of our friends thought that I am organising a worldwide party to celebrate your coming back to this discussion. Perhaps he may not have noticed the news.

Anyway, I think you will be active here again as we have a lot to learn from you. More than that, I think, we are slowly coming out of our usual very simple doubts.

I have the same problem when the bike can go approx 25kms before hitting reserve and if ridden at high speeds.....whenever i get into these kind of situations i generally put the knob to reserve for approx 5-10 secs/1km then return it to on position!!!!
Same solution occurred for me too.But this problem can become hazardous for us,don't you think ???

Day before yesterday a Tata Indica crashed into me because of this.I was turning right with indicators on by a traffic island, when the bike began to splutter,so normally it lost its speed while the Indica which was following me just caved into me and broke its right headlight on the exhaust of GS150R.But nothing happened to me and the GS150R suffered dented heat shield and scratch to exhaust. It would take more than that for anything serious to happen while riding a GS150R but still, since I leave home with my return entrusted to God,who knows it was his blessing too.

So specially after a high speed jaunt,if such a problem occurs while the momentum is still high....it can be serious, since I won't be in control of the situations always or may not be lucky too.

This is a problem which is really irritating. I cannot take it lightly when I see the serious side of this issue.

            • thank god you are safe and nothing happened!!!!
dont know why but its giving me false reserve exactly 25kms before actual reserve.....any idea why is it happening......and i usually prefer the left most lane when i see the last bar.....this saved me many times......

filled Rs.100/- petrol today and the odo reads 78kms without hiting the actual reserve(which i hope is 8-9kms away as far as my calculation goes....)
though i rode sanely with speedo not crossing80kmph mark today....god only knows how i did that.....but was pleased to know my bike can go 78+kms in 100Rs....with petrol prices increasing i surely am upgrading my riding skills.... thats the proof, above!!!

The photo as shown on News channels as that of slain person is actually a morphed image..A pic of a terrorist killed earlier, was used to form the upper face and the lower face was morphed from Laden's...So what next ? I will not be surprised to hear of him surfacing after a year or two..for the present let us hope the news is true, though there are more such people ready to step into his shoes, for personal misplaced glory and ideology.

yeah that it does, when ridden at normal speeds.
Even after incidents like false reserve,I do travel 70 kms or more before hitting actual reserve !!!

I hope Vishnukmd can shed some light on this.........though I do not assume he has suffered this trouble on his bike, since he rides gently.

So is it the President of USA or the Press who does not have access to the real image ?????

However, a couple of days ago Al-Qaida threatened nuclear hazard if Osama becomes mortally wounded, this news I viewed somewhere over the net.

Though the above topic is very interesting and mysterious,I would defer commenting more on it here since it leads us far away from the GS150R.

                        • hi guys..as many of you know it has been raining quite heavily here..most of the roads are clogged and traffic is at a standstill..for all those people in doubt out there let me tell you that the GS tyres in the wet are pretty good..its on loose sand/gravel that you feel the back end giving way..in wet/water clogged roads they are great to ride on..as long as you ride in a sane manner..also the brakes are good..i found it to be almost better than the unicorn in braking..

due to rains i think some mud particles are stuck in the front disk which causes a low squeak sound..this sound is not always present..i have tried to wash the disk..no use..sound persists..i dont think it will harm my front brakes but it does get irritating..its not that loud..

@vishnu and mach50...i adjusted the visor..found that the rubber screw holder under the visor for one of the screws was missing causing the visor to shake..i have to go back to the SVC to get that rubber part put in..i used double sided tape and fixed the rest of the screws..they are re-usable btw..so now the vibrations have reduced..wonder how you guys figured that it was the problem in the first place..and vishnu plz dont say demon worship...

                          • Thanks Vishnu for your advice. Now I'm trying to learn using front breaks. Yesterday I tried it couple of times but later as usual I forgot there is front break and used the other.
                            Need to practice more...

Yesterday I ride my bike in a little harsh manner, because I have to reach an Interview location at 11:30 and was able to leave my home at 10:50. Normally it takes 1hours ride to reach this location in Cochin. and in the day time traffic it takes more. In traffic I've shifted the gears up and down repeatedly and reached the interview location at 11:35(only 5 minute late).
But after the interview when I left to home, I've noticed that the bike had something missing. Its making more sound than earlier and have some difficulties to shift the gears.
Do I need to do anything now or wait for the service? 3rd service will be due with in a week. Now it crossed 5100KMs

Dont panic with the harshness......let the bike cool down overnight and in morning let her idle for say 5-10 secs and....there you are with the harshness removed.....

                              • Hi Guys,

I have been following this thread for almost a month now and believe me I have gone through almost all the 1080+ pages
The reason being when I started thinking of upgrading to 150cc segment, the first bike I fell in love wit is GS 150R and hence after 1 month I am abut to book this on a week or so.
So thanks to all the owners of GS (or GSpians) for all the information that u have shared with the novice bikers like me.
                                Special thanks to Sam(which I haven't seem from a long time", Mach50,Vishnu,MSN1,Maestro,Anup ..
                                One small query though..
I live in Bangalore and I have enquired in 2 suzuki show rooms(apple near banashankari and Saptagiri near magadi road) the price they quoted was 73.4k and 72.9k resp. Also there were no grey colored bike in both of the show rooms so that I could have a glimspe at it.

In saptagiri when I asked about Gs's sales he told its not that great and it was the same as compared to 2009.
Also there was no bike for a test ride and he promised me that on Friday he will arrange for the test drive(with the only bike that was show cased there ).

But the strange thing was he was pushing me to go for Slingshot
He even gave me a test ride and told it gives more mileage ,customer feedback is very good blah blah...
I was not interested in buying a 125cc since I own caliber 115(which can easily go up to 90+ even today) but I was little worried the way he reacted when I asked for GS....
So help me out guys..why even Suzuki ppl are not interested in selling GS even after 3 years?? also is there a new model launched in 2011 or its 2010 only..
Sorry for the long post but i am sure someone will clear my doubts.
Especially MSN1,Keerthiman etc who live in bangalore
