Yes, even I slow down and switch to low beam when I have strong opposite light. Well, on any bike and many times even in cars. I even try to follow a moderately speeding car/Tavera with my low beam on in such situations...Originally posted by sakumart View Post

Hmmm... so I imagine, this would look like a triangle of lights from front, right ? (when attached to GS150R)Originally posted by HydBiker View PostBasically on a highway at night even most car's headlamps are not sufficient the moment there is an oncoming vehicle with strong headlights or with headlights at almost your eye height (most lorry's, busses & SUV's). For bikes you go blind the moment there is any light ahead of you... can be just a Bajaj Chetak's headlight! Add to this the Helmet Visor.... that needs to be complete clean and scratchless.
Now, to add more lighting and to make sure that you can see the road at least to an extent while oncoming vehicles bling you, you can add a extra (aftermarket) light like those people add to cars, a good number of bikes and autos add... they will have a single strong beam from a small reflector and a good place to mount them is the leg guard.
HiSunil has got one on his Comet's handlebar. Saw many bikes with extra light(s) on leg guard... and some posh examples here - Motorcycle Driving and Fog Lights
oh, BTW, this is just gonna help a bit and is not gonna make things turn out like a day for you

71.55 kmpl!!! I doubt thatOriginally posted by Falgun View Postwhat is the maximum mileage Gs has given.....?
i have completed 783 kms in 18 days,90% of distance covered on highways at < 60 km/h and < 5000 rpm.
My bike got in reserve when my ODO was showing 642 km.
I filled Rs 50 (1.16 ltrs) petrol to find mileage when my ODO was 692.
i again got in reserve on 725.
so i covered 83kms in 1.16 i.e 71.55 km/l.....!!!
i hope that's a correct way to measure Mileage.
I doubted myself at that figure.
I again filled petrol of Rs 50 when ODO was 735 kms and have completed 783 today, still not in reserve.
i think even ODO is not counting with that big error.
the show room executives told 60-65 on highways during purchase.
i am getting much more than that.
Can a 150 cc bike give such a mileage...?
waiting for next reserve.
Please correct me if i am doing it wrong way.
Only if you use premium petrol, maintain very high air pressure in both the tyres than is recommended and drive constantly at ~50 kmph on a highway (with some downhill
), such high figure is possible. Why don't you check the air pressure. The max I got on my GS is 61 kmpl (with Shell Unleaded) and the min is 35 when I tried to test its top speed.

Hey Sam thanks for your reply : i think i told i have almost zeroed on GS150R. i just wanted to know about the issues only because this will be my first bike(that too my own earningOriginally posted by sam9s View PostI would suggest FZ ONLY if you cannot live without looks, I mean looks are at most important to you. else I feel GS is the one. The only points GS lacks behind FZ is 1. Looks and 2. 0-60 Pick up. Else GS leads in every aspect like Milage, Comfort, mid rande pickup etc are few to talk. Coming to your queries...
I have not faced any serious issue yet but if you can scroll through few pages at the back you would come across few I faced but that would dependent on the user how he prioritize those...
total amount spent on servicing : 200 for the Oil and Air filter change (which would always be there in all free service)
total km done : 1800 till now
max speed : 115Km/h which was the max (check out my post before)
max milage : 67km/l but that was at almost ideal speeds, you can expect anywhere around 55 when you start driving it the usuall way......
Any more queries are welcomed....
) so ofcourse u can imagine my excitment. So i wanted to know if there are any major issues with the bike compared to FZ.
And yeah ofcourse looks wise FZ is ahead of all the bikes in 150+ < 220 category( yeah even better than R15 ,for me). but i do want the handling. and 6 gears is way too tempting.
if only FZ had more power i would have gone my eyes closed but here its not the case. i think it is priced more.
So finally ill be zeroing on GS150R.
Thanks
Santhosh

Indeed!Originally posted by Shadowfax View PostHmmm... so I imagine, this would look like a triangle of lights from front, right ? (when attached to GS150R)
I think the FZ's handling is not to be pointed out. It is a sweet handler and might even handle better than the GS... my guess that is and there is no proof if someone wants me to prove it.Originally posted by sakumart View PostAnd yeah ofcourse looks wise FZ is ahead of all the bikes in 150+ < 220 category( yeah even better than R15 ,for me). but i do want the handling. and 6 gears is way too tempting.

Also, the FZ doesn't fall very short of the GS in terms of speed either.
Then why I told you FOR GS in the earlier post??? It is just that I felt your requirement to be similar to mine and my choice was the GS.

Might? Pal, the FZ is in a different league of its own. Having ridden both the bikes back to back, i can vouch for this. I suggest you visit a Suzuki showroom and take a test ride of the GS. The front feels light and you really dont feel like throwing it around corners!Originally posted by HydBiker View PostIndeed!

Out and out, i guess the FZ and GS more or less have the same top end, give or take may be 2-3 km/h. But yes, where the GS scores is the 6-speed 'box which means the engine feels less strained at 85-90km/h as compared the FZAll new Royal Enfield 'Tripping' ads here -->www.bhp-india.blogspot.com

during those Kms where i tested the mileage i have driven between 50 to 57Originally posted by hyderabadi_nawab View Post71.55 kmpl!!! I doubt that

in 6th gear.almost totally on highway except around 10 kms in city.
however my next test has reduced to 53km/l in mainly city conditions.
i would be checking out if i go any closer to the earlier figure,If not than may be i have made some mistake.

Well as I mentioned I got 67km/l driving at almost 60-65 and occationally giving the bike a high accelaration,,,,,may be he is not even doing that and driving at even more ideal speed of 50....might reach 71km/l as well......Originally posted by hyderabadi_nawab View Post71.55 kmpl!!! I doubt that

FZ handling is easy for sure coz it feels light but I would not say that makes it better, may be in croweded streets but at high speeds say at 75 or so zipping through traffic feels far more secure and robust on GS. one reason is its great mid range pick up...... even I have driven both bikes and I can vouch for that as well...Originally posted by groupbhp View PostMight? Adding a sixth gear simply means that you have a cruise gear. So obviously Suzuki was thinking about highway as well while designing this bike. You cannot justify 6 gears in a bike which is only going to be ridden in the city. By city I mean traffic congested roads.Originally posted by satishg View PostI can'nt understand why Suzuki opted for a 6 speed box in a commuter bike, unless it has extra ordinary power. by changing 6 gears up down what we get extra compared to the other 150 in the next lane ?DoN\'t LivE tO DiE, dIe tO LiVe

^^^ Judging by the above review, I think we should make it compulsory to write AGE and TOTAL KMS RIDDEN BY SELF before posting reviews!
Take care of the plastic panels of your 'rocking fz' chicky...
Mods: Sorry, didn't mean to get OT, but the above poster just pushed me to it!

I think you took a test ride with a pre concieved notion of nothing can be better than FZ, every bike has its takers depending on their priority, I can give you 5 reason I feel against FZ and shout........man FZ simply sucks, I will any day trade a vespa with it........does it sound like a mature comment..??Originally posted by chickyheart View Posti got the test ride yesterday and after getting it i want to say an activa fitted with 6 gears

And I wonder how ground clearance is 5/10 when all bikes have almost same GC 160mm +- 5, except RTR which has 180mm. This proves your research before rating BTW
