I bought this chain from Decathlon 2 days back and I should say I am extremely satisfied with it. It weighs ~3kgs, yes ~3kgs . It is extremely sturdy and very very difficult to break. Thought a chain grinder would cut the chain in few minutes, the chain is practically unbreakable. The lock and its holder is sturdy as well.

When I asked the decathlon staff if this is breakable, this is what they said - the thief would rather remove the back or front wheel than wasting time to cut the chain LOL

The only drawback is that it does not have a "secure rating". That is something that I did not worry about. If you want something that has a rating this is the next pick.

My point is most of the people who buy bike in India just wants initial pickup and power 10 times with the money they pay.unfortunately most of the people who are selling itnare hunting for power and that's it.I am sure they will find some niggle in the ducatis also(talk about skills)
Assuming that the 600 owners are not happy with the mad acceleration which they were expecting, what they really need is a V-Twin machine where peak torque appears much lower in the rev range. Like you say, inline 4 may feel soft or calm in lower rev range.

This reminds me of a point about the 300. 3-4 people who took test rides of the 300 told me that "the bike was stalling" and they were not happy with the pick up/acceleration. I think they mean to say is that it gave them a feeling that the engine would stop. Few people have expressed their dissatisfaction with the acceleration on this thread too. One is the above reason where the parallel twin of 300 feels sedate at lower RPMs. It after all comes from the 600 inline 4 engine. It likes to be revved and we know it comes alive once you go past 6-6.5K RPMs. So maybe these riders were too careful/cautious or even timid to actually rev the motor a bit. I'm not sure.

            What do you guys think?

You are right ... the issue is most riders do not know what they want and pick up the bike without proper research. Like the 300 is a sedate engine ... That doesn't mean it doesn't have power or the torque when needed. Yes, it won't fly off like a Duke but then I personally find the Duke stressful even though I like riding it. One more thing about the 300 is that it has a 360degree cycle. Both cylinders move together but fire alternatively. One of the reasons for it to be sedate and also the way it sounds. This setup basically makes it behave like a large single but would be way more efficient.

Yes the 300 is very calm and we like it for this reason.that's the characteristics of this bike. Every bike is different. People who sold I think wouldn't be aware of the fact as to when there peak torque kicks in or the bhp,may be they wanted a pickup of 2 stroke on an inline 4!

I guess the point we are all trying to make is that - Please do your homework before shelling out cash on a bike. Just because one can afford a 600 doesn't mean he/she should buy it and later regret.

+1 on your point regarding the Duke.

I read in the R3 thread that the person who took the test drive of the 300 felt that the engine was sluggish and he also mentioned that it is meant for a different audience. This makes perfect sense. He knows what he wants. This is exactly how we choose a bike and not buy one because we can get one.

Most of the 600 owners who are selling it did not do their homework and just went because of the way it sounded.

Most importantly getting an in-line 4 at that price..

Errr. I guess i am that person. Yes the TNT 300 was a contender . I took the test drive of the TNT 300 under various traffic conditions before R3 TD and also after R3 TD(but this time from a colleague). On my first TD of the TNT , i was blown away and i loved the exhaust note and the engine.I felt the sluggishness , but then I assumed this was due to the sales person sitting pillion. Then after the R3 TD, again i Test drove my colleague's TNT. After that I understood what the TNT is made for. The TNT is a mile muncher and not for breaking straight line records. The R3 well is as in Yamaha's words "Lightweight Supersport for Everyday use"

I am planning to cover my tank with 3M's PPF.

When I enquired, they told me that per square feet it will cost Rs. 550.

Any idea about the diameter of our tank ?

Pricing is OK. They will have to figure out how many sheets to use. ... Not everyone is able to do it without cutting.

True.. Thats what they told me indirectly.

Also, do you think the 300's tank is bigger than the tank of a Royal Enfield Classic 350/500 ?

(Unless the pillion was weighing over 90kgs)This is because of the power to weight ratio. 300 is 196 KGS.

One of the reasons why I did not go for KTM Duke 390 was:

I wanted a beast who is calm on the outset and when unleashed it should be mind blowing. Now KTM is aggressive right from word go. TNT 300 in comparison is calm like any other bike till 5000 RPM. But once you take it out of that calm zone, it is just storm.

What I have enjoyed many times is I am riding along other vehicles without much noise, but as soon as I find an open, empty and safe stretch, I am gone in no time and that too with a thundering noise that other road users were left gaping thinking 'what was that, from where!'

It may not be bigger than the RE but has more curves hence more wastage. I think only Abhijeet in Mumbai has managed to do full coverage and it cost him around 5k. I couldn't find anyone in Bangalore to do that so I initially bought cut pieces meant for ninja 650 old model and it was a direct fit for the leg flanks and tank between seat and fuel cap. Auto Services Bangalore charged me a bomb (2k)for 3 pieces. I was using tank bags so needed coverage in front too so I bought the sheets off eBay and fixed it myself. Was much cheaper compared to what I paid in Autoservice.
