ok cool. That sounds great. Ill check them out this weekend.

And do you put any disc locks or chains on your bike ? In other words, what are the safety measures you take to protect your 300 ?

Nothing at the moment apart from keeping it inside the garage at night. I am more worried about people 'fingering around' with the bike. So i have a bike cover I use. When outside, I try parking only in Malls and avoid open roads or road side parking as much as possible.

        Ok cool.

I am planning to get a sturdy chain for both the front and back wheel. Any suggestion ?

I wish I had a garage where I can park it. I am actually having sleepless nights thinking about my bike's safety.

It is not about putting any after market stuff, I don't prefer anything additional to be on my bike. But here I see DSK not being fair with customers, simply putting blame on radiator guard make no sense to me, may be the guy who told you about it won't be from professional background (here I mean Automobile services).

I have extended the mudguard using a BTwin mudguard and it works well. My radiator is clean even on a rainy day.

Should I ask for front and rear mid flaps ?

                  Visiting the decathlon showroom tomorrow.

This one - you need three of these for the rear if you want side coverage and to add length to the rear mud flap.

Today was the first day I took NYX out for a ride.

I got caught in traffic today and it was severe. I could feel the engine getting strained, hence I took another route and went back home. The temp was 92 C and i wasn't really comfortable driving.

I waited till the temp came down to 80 C. I went through another route which had medium to less traffic. The temp was constantly between 88-92 C. Is this something I need to be worried about ?

Is there something wrong with the way I shift gear ? I would love to know the RPM range to shift gears during the run-in period. This is how I shift.

                      1.5 - 3 RPM - 1st and 2nd.
                      3 - 4 RPM - 3rd
                      4.5 - 5 RPM - 4th , 5th and 6th gear.

Please let me know your thoughts.

That's normal running temperature in the city. I use it daily in peak hour traffic. Does get hot, in the range of 90-95. Nothing to worry about.

Hey Shashank... no need to be over cautious. Just avoid riding in very heavy traffic for long periods during the 1st 1600 kms.
The coolant temperature will hover around 87 to 92 in city riding conditions. That's what I have experienced in Chennai.
A motorcycle coolants boiling point may be higher than 130 degree Celsius. No need to panic.

Thank you bro for clarifying this for me. I was just being over cautious I guess. What about the gear question ? Whats your call on that ?

Alright bro. Thank you. Just being over cautious as u said.

I am trying my best to avoid heavy traffic. Today is my first day. I almost shed tears of joy coz this moment is something I was waiting for, for the past 4 years.

Anyway, I will probably make sure that the temp range is between 87-92 during the run in period.

Also what's your call on the gear shifting pattern ?

                                One more silly question.

The temp is 56 C. At what temperature is it safe to cover the bike ?
