Something is going on and Yamaha is not ready to reveal the reason. Hope they give some statement but media needs to highlight this.
Yamaha Ray, FZ-S & Fazer Discontinued From the Indian Market - NDTV CarAndBike

Auto news back before an year ago confirms FZ 16 was discontinued, and was also confirmed by Yamaha according to the above news link and many other links across the net.

Later they put FZ 16 back on site, then removed again, then again back on site :P

FZ 16 carb was in sales along with the FI version for long time and Yamaha said it is due to the demand for the bike they dont want to discontinue, but fazer was discontinued immediately when FI was launched.
I dont think stock clearance was the reason but the BS4 norms maybe.

They wont remove R3 from india.
As far as the removal from website is concerned, many are stumped by it but the reason is the BS3 - BS4 issue. It will be back once the BS4 stuffs are cleared.

However, there is one question - are all other models (from 100cc commuters to 1800 cc Vmax) of Yamaha BS 4 compliant? They are still there. And also from other companies like CBR 250R, Navi etc. None has been removed from their websites.
R3 was BS4 compliant but yamaha had reg it just for BS3. God knows why though. There will be minor changes to the BS4 R3 that will be launched next which will probably be better than BS4 norms is what i heard. They are usually ahead in these things. Also removal from website might also mean some changes in spec sheets.

so most Indians kept waiting, guessing or moved to other available options in market. Ultimately its loosing side for yamaha, why they don't understand God knows.
Yamaha never is open about its plans to its own company members, let alone general public. Thats how they work. ktm and mahindra need to make sound to sell.
not sure how yamaha is losing in your calculations. do you even know their sale figures or market shares ?

Yes, yamaha was concentrating on scooter market for a while now. Why not get some share hold in scooters ? numbers matter right?. Yamaha has started to concentrate on performance segment now, with the launch of R3 and especially FZ25. More bikes to come in coming years.
You look like misinformed regarding R3 launch. There was press launch of R3 as well and not to forget the ride with lorenzo promo that happened in BIC where some xbhpians attended. also can u tel me where is FZ09 in the website ? its MT09 FYI, MT09 was launched in auto expo last year. These bikes dont require tele ads or promotional ads. ever seen ducati panigale ads in tv ? was there a ducati scrambler launch ? no right. MT09 was launched are reviewed long back in other countries. also lemme enlighten you, all MT09 that were imported into india are sold.

The fz 09 and mt09 are the same error except the name, I've seen one motovlogger doing a short review, companies like power drift, Autocar, etc yet to get a media bike to review. https://youtu.be/6GJqk75GSkg

As per this youtuber Yamaha R3 is confirmed for relaunch. Apparently BS4 issue.
New graphics are expected ( my fav 2017 red) and mechanically shall be same.
Personally i would like the same engine spec, otherwise in the name of 'PS' war, most of the time the torque is lost.

No abs for India, not even as a option, I guess only the 2018 or 19 models will have it.

Why you think so? 2018 is just 8 months away, they can bring ABS much before the 2018 deadline!

The fact of the matter is that they, won't, it's either expensive or Yamaha is not too bothered about the segment and abs. They could have at least offered it as a option in 2015 itself, in my view any bike over 200cc should be offered with abs atleast as a option.

Agreed with your point but Kawasaki should have also offered ABS on N300 but they haven't. I guess yamaha would bring ABS early 2018. None of the 300cc CKD bike offers ABS. I think manufacturers are waiting for the government to make it mandatory just like BS4.
