Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Challenge is costing, R3/N300 is not a mass market bike if it's equipped with ABS then price will certainly go up by 30-40k. Also, stocking of spares is another reason. So companies like yamaha and Kawasaki are ignoring abs till government makes it mandatory.Originally posted by Kushal_Arora View Post

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
R3 is priced good 40k below Ninja 300 , if they can add ABS and still manage to keep it below Ninja 300 Non-Abs Model then it will come as Big Boost . Yamaha had no reasons to pull out R3 ,Since Yamaha MD himself said all CKD comes with BS-IV , Reasons are completely different , Yamaha already has ruled out adding Sliper Clutch or Ride by Wire , So Why Pull it out ?

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yamaha pulled out R3 because on paper in india it was BS3 and regarding ABS, yamaha's thinking is they need numbers, including ABS will increase the price and sales will be declined. In short, when government makes it mandatory they will include it. Latest example is 2017 Ninja 300 they just made it BS4 and rest was unchanged.Originally posted by coldfire2005 View PostR3 is priced good 40k below Ninja 300 , if they can add ABS and still manage to keep it below Ninja 300 Non-Abs Model then it will come as Big Boost . One reason I feel why Yamaha will re-launch the R3 (if they actually decide to) with ABS as they were always ahead of the regulations game with minor exceptions.
I could be wrong, but for the most part Yamaha bikes have conformed to regulations far earlier than other makers bikes.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Actually I don't believe that theory floated around , if R3 was cleared with BS-III papers then why couldn't get it cleared with BS-IV papers since it was already equipped with BS-IV mechanics ? Yamaha cleared all of their current production bikes way before deadline for a thought and all CBU models where neither withdrawn .Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostYamaha pulled out R3 because on paper in india it was BS3 and regarding ABS, yamaha's thinking is they need numbers, including ABS will increase the price and sales will be declined. R3 is getting some mechanical updates for sure where it is ABS or something else is for sure , Other News of R3 getting BS-VI update which applies from 2020 is also false because Yamaha plans updated R-3 in 2019 with Slipper clutch and host of mechanical updates and looks .
Coming to Ninja 300, News going on is that 2018 Ninja 300 with upgraded design might be showcased at EICMA 2017 in November for slated launch at April 2018 at exact time when ABS Rules kick in .

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Yamaha is not known for update their bikes often, my point is don't expect any major changes on 2017 R3 apart from BS4 and colour change, also they could change tires.Originally posted by coldfire2005 View PostActually I don't believe that theory floated around , if R3 was cleared with BS-III papers then why in .

Exactly...
IMHO, since this is not a mass market bike, any one who will go for this category will be a rider. Any rider will definitely realise the worth of the safety net of ABS. So,if someone is paying 3.6L for non-abs,he/she might as well pay 3.9 L for the ABS.
Just my thoughts...

Not many think same as you, when I purchased R3 it was priced at 3.74L and when it was pulled off it was priced at 3.87L and in some states like Kerala it's already 4L plus so including ABS will get it around 4.3-4.4L. Then mathematics will come to play like what if save more and enter in a 600cc segment or buy RC390.Originally posted by Kushal_Arora View PostHey Chandan,

US spec R3 had ABS with Michelin tires by default if i am not wrong, they were not introduced in 2017.Originally posted by Finney View PostWhen 2017 R3 in US already has ABS, why won't Yamaha bring the same to 2017 India model?
I am pretty sure the new 2017 R3 model will have ABS, and the price will be hiked by 20-30k for the same.
In india price matters, yamaha can/could have bought ABS model but will that sale like dukes/RCs. I would say hope for best but in 2018 ABS will be there.Last edited by Chandan92; 06-02-2017, 04:38 PM.

For numbers all the have to do is make ABS optional!Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostYamaha pulled out R3 because on paper in india it was BS3 and regarding ABS, yamaha's thinking is they need numbers, including ABS will increase the price and sales will be declined. Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Guys, how much ever we discuss here, Yamaha is not going to change their plans. So lets wait and watch for the relaunch instead of adding posts that don't add much to the thread.
Haven't seen any owners posting about rides/trips recently. Are they so much busy enjoying their rides ?
It's the journey that matters, not the destination.

Re: Yamaha YZF R3 Owners Reviews and Experiences
This is the official reason given by Yamaha. So if we have to believe them, then R3 came with BSIII. But there is a chance the bike is already Euro 4 but since in India it was BS3, they could have documented the papers as BS3. So now they have to change the documentation alone to BS4. If this is the case then we can expect in couple of months. Otherwise if BS4 issue is related to hardware change also , then it might take more time for relaunch.Originally posted by coldfire2005 View PostYamaha had no reasons to pull out R3 ,Since Yamaha MD himself said all CKD comes with BS-IV , Reasons are completely different ,
