Re: Engine oil grade for hornet 160r
Yes, mineral oil becomes very thin after 1000km(1st free service). 2nd oil change using Honda Throttle FS Oil at 6500km> not thin like 1st service. 3rd oil change at 11300km using Honda Throttle FS Oil> still in good condition.Originally posted by #bpk View PostFriends, company recommends 10w 30 grade oil , but some of the xbhpians have used 10w 40 grade. Will the oil pump of hornet be able to pump 10w 40 oil. Also i noticed that even after 1000km honda oil becomes watery thin , is it normal. Please help.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
At Guwahati JayBee Honda no such restrictions were imposed. But engine oil began to leak through the drain hole in very small quantity. They also returned the bike with some scratches and paint removal on the swing arm while adjusting the chain tension. Dissatisfied, I changed the drain plug washer myself and the leak stopped. Thereafter I am doing the servicing myself. I did not avail the free/paid services thereafter. I am taking the risk and confident that during the warranty period nothing will go wrong, God willing.Originally posted by #bpk View PostThanks for the reply, but here in tezpur the dealer is not allowing me to use honda throttle, they said that it's only for cbr [emoji17]

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
If you want, pour the honda throttle or any other oil yourself.Originally posted by #bpk View PostThanks for the reply, but here in tezpur the dealer is not allowing me to use honda throttle, they said that it's only for cbr [emoji17]
While servicing ask specifically. you don't want to change engine oil.
Simply, write in job card "NO ENGINE oil". First time I changed to Motul 300v I did the same. Later when I wanted to switch to Honda throttle I asked them to change in front of me while delivery, just to make sure they used correct oil.
I read some pages back, in other city dealer was pursuing to use Honda Throttle from first service itself.
I would suggest to use default oil till 6000km (2nd service) before changing to synthetic oil. It will brush out engine well.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hello Everyone,
I own Honda Shine and as the original thread for this motorcycle is not so active, I would like as a quick question here as it is quite common for all carburetor based bikes. I bought STP carb spray cleaner.
My question is - Can I use it to clean with out pulling out the carburetor completely ? Is there a way like spraying it into the air filter path or something like that ?
Please advice.
Thanks.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Nope. You can't do it the old Maruti 800/Premier Padmini way. In motorcycles, it is the jets that have to be cleaned mainly, then the bowl, etc. It is very practical and easy to remove the carb and do the work. In Shine, the access to carb is easy.Originally posted by karteek View PostHello Everyone,

Thanks.
Edit: I was wrong bro, only the butterfly flap in cars can be cleaned in situ. See this, carb of M800, interesting !

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
My bike is 8 months old and completed 6000+ km
i have already 3L+ petrol and filled 4l again for weekend and speedly crosse around 400meters from bunk and bike stopped suddenly and mechanic told me compressor is down.
and removed spark plug and after filling some oil or petrol something in it bike stared with lot of white some.
what is the cause do i need to worry? is it temporary issue or some kind of part or compressor failure ?
this is the first time happened to me.
and also from last 2-3 months i am feeling vehical is bit power less than before not sure if it's just feeling or really i have issue and also is this anything to do with compressor problem ?Last edited by raaz321; 05-18-2018, 02:00 PM.

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking this way - www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4jstUJE1xQOriginally posted by ashwanth.r View PostIt is very practical and easy to remove the carb and do the work. In Shine, the access to carb is easy.
Is it possible ?Last edited by karteek; 05-18-2018, 01:38 PM.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Possible but not effective. Also, removing the filter will suck all the dust and sand into the cylinder. Remove and clean the carb. It is easy.Originally posted by karteek View Post

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Thanks ashwanth. I will keep it in mind. People say there is a kind of drain bowl under the carburetor. Is it OK to just remove it and drain with out touching the carburetor settings ? Just wanted to know.Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostPossible but not effective.
