My odo reading is 111km . 1st servicing is yet to be done. Will the heat generation will be less after servicing please reply.

For the first ask the SVC to check for oil circulation pressure,Oil level and quality.
For the second, again ask the SVC to set the AFR rich...by turning the AFR screw by 1/2 turn(180 degrees) ANTI CLOCKWISE. This will lower the FE and your mileage will drop.
If this adjustment had not been done to increase FE ,AS PER YOUR REQUEST, then insist on it....most SVC have Emission checking equipment, and while checking your bike on it adjust for 1.5% of CO.
Possibility, very lean AFR setting. Service guys set it that way. If you are hill area. It will affect more.

BTW, Looks like your bike is newer 2018, LED model. Can you post some pics. Looks cool

Thanks for your valuable comments. As per lean mixture is concerned i don't have cold start issue in morning and also pickup is good across the rpm range [emoji17]

Also i checked the oil level it was on perfect level on the dipstick. God knows what's happening with my bike

All new bikes will emit higher heat than a set engine ie., an engine which had done 2~3 K Kms. This is because the moving parts are all new, esp., engine bore ,Piston and Rings . The bore esp., will be a little rough on the inside causing friction and heat build up..The tolerances between moving parts will also be very tight, ie., very little gap between parts making it hard work for the engine and hence heat..
You can try adding 1~2ml of 2T oil Per Liter of Petrol to get upper cylinder moving parts lubrication..This will not cause Catcon or any other parts to go bad since the percentage is very low..
              Good Luck

Stick with recommended oil till 6000 ODO.
After that your choice if you like to switch to full synthetic. That too, Honda CBR 10w30 works great.

Stick with 10w40 mineral oil...try using Shell Rimula R4 15w40 HDEO oil which gives better engine protection and heat will also reduce..If you prefer you can also use the conventional Shell AX7 10w40..

Thanks for the reply .After how many kilometers engine heating will be reduced, please reply. Also why honda has used high compression ratio 10:01 whereas similar powered gixxer uses compression ratio of 9:8:1 . I think because of higher compression ratio hornet heats up more, which is a bad thing even apache 200s compression ratio is lowered than hornet [emoji22][emoji22]

After a proper running in of 2~3 K Kms the heat will be subdued. Higher compression design is the manufacturer's preference and give better FE and performance...It is one of the known ways to improve an engine's power with FE increase, and heating is more due to higher combustion temperatures...The designer would have taken this into consideration during design time...SBKs have much higher temperature radiation, and some will fry you alive in city traffic..ha ha

But they should atleast have given an oil cooler like that of rtr 160 or ns 160[emoji41] [emoji41]

Hi All, good to be back to xbhp after a long time. Bought my hornet in March and done with the first service on 10th April'16 @325KM on odo. I have few problems with the bike. I maintained the rpm between 3-4.5k before 1st service.

                              1. Gear shift is not smooth.
                              2. Pickup is not that great, I feel. I couldn't go above 85KMPH (perhaps I feel my subconscious mind has been stopping me every time).
                              3. Ride gets harsher after 5.5K RPM.
                              4. Leather on the seat (factory-fitted) started to peel off. Honda show-room guys (GSN honda, Chennai) have no idea about the seat cover and stuffs.
                              5. I still get the smell of a burnt-wire (or rubber) though the bike has reached ~700KMs - it has reduced though.
                              6. Above all, the guys at the service centre were pathetic. They didn't care too much to respond to our queries. I was charged Rs. 457 for 1st service; when I asked them why it was more than the usual bill of Rs.312 (as I read here), they didn't explain me properly.

Should I escalate it to the Honda guys?

                              Thanks,
                              Shankar
Same problem with me on my 2018 hornet abs model. Odo reading is 160 km. Also engine heat can be felt after riding 8 to 10 kilometers while in standstill. Does your problems got sorted. Please reply .

Not sure if I m the unlucky one but my bike heats up in 10-12 km rides and becomes very sluggish and rough to ride(former Apache 160 owner) as everyone knows Apache is not a very smooth bike . Hornet at least the one I got is way worse . I complained and they replaced some engine parts worth 2k but the problem is as it is. Will again need to take it to SVC . Waste of time and money.
