Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
After how many kilometers we can change to 10w 40 grade. Can we use 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter [emoji119]Originally posted by Anupam Das View PostGradewise 10W40 engine oil seems to be better than 10W30 engine oil. I am using Yamalube Sporty Premium fully synthetic 10W40 engine oil in my Hornet and the bike feels better till now(1k km). Long term effect is not known. It also costs as little as Rs. 405 for 1litre.
I am also using Servo gear oil SAE 90 and chain life has increased considerably. No need for frequent tightening. Cleaning the chain properly before lubrication is necessary for longer life. This heavy oil is way too better as compared to used/new SAE 10W30 oil.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
I went for Yamalube Sporty Premium fully synthetic 10w40 engine oil mainly because of Yamaha brand and value for money proposition at 11300+ km. I think you can use 10w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter. I will stick to 10w40 for some time and see it's effect. Till 12600+ km from 11300+ km it is working just fine.Originally posted by #bpk View PostAfter how many kilometers we can change to 10w 40 grade. How many kilometers can be done using Honda FS engine oil??Originally posted by anoopkumar0 View PostYes, it is as annoying as sound. But they impose this this condition.
Any way, you can use Honda Throttle (CBR 250 FS) oil. It is well priced and works very well.
Again, will there be any performance/mileage drop(or hike)?!?

I completed around 5000 km on current Honda Throttle oil.Originally posted by Prophet View PostHow many kilometers can be done using Honda FS engine oil??

Performance is really good and smooth gear shift.
If you are switching to FS first time you will notice very smooth engine grunt. As it will smooth out engine there is slight mileage gain.------------------

Didn't used itOriginally posted by #bpk View PostDost have you tested tvs fully synthetic 10w 30 oil. If ,yes please do a review on that oil
My experience with different engine oil
Default : 10w30 Honda Mineral till 8K
Motul 300v: Super overkill for 160cc and very costly, oil leaking issue.
Honda Throttle, CBR oil: Super oil. More than 5K drain interval. No heating issue in day long driving - 450Km.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Recent honda bikes such as unicorn 160 and hornet have quality issues, better you get it fixed by svc and sell your bike and get yourself fzs fi or any other bikes having compression ratio less than 10, such as fz= 9.5, rtr 200=9.7:1 ,pulsar 150/180/220/avenger etc. Due to high compression ratio and due to insufficient cooling hornets reliability is bad, even cbr 250r having compression ratio of 10.7 with liquid cooling but hornet have 10:01 compression ratio without liquid cooling so buy a lower compression ratio bike [emoji2]Originally posted by raaz321 View Postis carbon formation on vales and piston head with just 7k km 8months old bike is believable ?petrol is good only

No, it is not believe-able. 7000 kms is just too less for much carbon formation, may be you were running rich from day #1. Take your bike to a SVC with good reputation and let them troubleshoot it properly. Do you have other problems like poor mileage ?Originally posted by raaz321 View Postis carbon formation on vales and piston head with just 7k km 8months old bike is believable ?petrol is good only
You know this and still bought a Hornet?Originally posted by #bpk View PostRecent honda bikes such as unicorn 160 and hornet have quality issues
FZS-Fi is a bit boring on the paper but it sells like hot cakes here. Pulsar 150/180/220/avenger can be avoided as Bajaj has made it clear they will be phasing out the current models by 2019. I wonder why you didn't mention the Gixxer. Current best in the segment, IMHO, is the 1604VOriginally posted by #bpk View Postget yourself fzs fi or any other bikes having compression ratio less than 10, such as fz= 9.5, rtr 200=9.7:1 ,pulsar 150/180/220/avenger etc. Due to high compression ratio and due to insufficient cooling hornets reliability is bad, even cbr 250r having compression ratio of 10.7 with liquid cooling but hornet have 10:01 compression ratio without liquid cooling so buy a lower compression ratio bike [emoji2]

160 4v has even higher compression ratio than hornet better to go for gixxer intruder fz sz rr for trouble free experience [emoji3][emoji3]Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostNo, it is not believe-able. 7000 kms is just too less for much carbon formation, may be you were running rich from day #1. Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
The previous generation pulsar will not be phased out, recently bajaj has launched 150,180 and 220 with minor upgrades. Bajaj has divided its motorcycle range in 2 segments. One for enthusiasts eg: ns , rs dominar etc and regular 150,180 and 220 for average performance seeking customers and mark my word they'll even continue the same trend in upcoming years [emoji120][emoji120]Originally posted by ashwanth.r View PostNo, it is not believe-able. 7000 kms is just too less for much carbon formation, may be you were running rich from day #1.
