  • Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences

    Hi..

Looking to change the front stock Tyre.
Clocked around 20,000 kMS, but the wear is abnormal.

Not satisfied with the stock MRF Tyre, creating panic even in small wet patches.

Looking for a Tyre which is good for both wet and dry grip.

Previously for Apache, I used Michelin pilot sport for front which has given a good grip.

    Any suggestions...

    Thanks in advance.

Always change both front and rear with same grade. Different tyre in front and back may not go well.
Your route is too rough? Then you need hard compound.

Thanks for the suggestion bro will look into that.

Thought of the same, to change rear Tyre also, but the rear Tyre tread is good about 70% life.

I will make an Enquiry in the local shops for any exchange .. So that I can change both.

And changing at correct rpm should not be any challenge. If you are in 5th and drastically reduce your speed and rpm also goes down, then downshifting will be challenging and you can hear loud thud sound from gear box.
Regarding irregular acceleration, try change the air filter, check if there is fuel line blockage and try to tune the carburettor. Even if there is blockage in fuel needle inside carburettor will cause all these issues.
Thanks will check the carburetor, as i have checked everything else

Manual asks to test three things: 1) input volts from CDI to TPS. 2) continuity of TPS to CDI and 3) TPS resistance from fully closed throttle to fully open. If possible, don't remove it and test it while it is still attached to the carb.
Is it prevents sudden drops in rpm in close throttle? What are the symptoms of damaged tps..

Bad TPS can cause idling problems but its effect is more on swift acceleration like jerking or sluggishness.

From when did this trouble start - did you give it to service or cleaned the carb?
How did you narrow it down to TPS ?
How many kilometers has your bike done?
Is the choke working okay and was the idle rpm set when the vehicle was warm?

I am on 6.5k only.. have not cleaned the carb... The problem was in hot engine when i close the throttle so.etimes it fast comes to 2k rpm then waits their for a second or two and then comes to 1.5k...
If in hot engine i tried to set the idle rpm at more than 1.7k it never stays there, automatically reved up to 2.25k. while tps is detached it shows smoth increase and drop of rpm while setting idle one...

If I remember right, once I told that you are running lean and to adjust the carb. Did you try that? Also the bike will feel out of breath in higher RPMs, doesn't it?

Like ayrus told, you might be running lean. I don't know if a vacuum leak is your problem as the bike should have only completed 2 services and is relatively new. It is better to take to the SVC and get it diagnosed easily. If the carb needs adjustment, they will do it with a CO gas analyzer which is the best way to do it.

I have done the carb tuning and cold stalling problem is solved..

But while idling if i rotate the idle rpm adjust screw clockwise, it will increase rpm linearly upto 1.75k, then its suddenly increased to 2.5k.. is it normal?

Carb tuning has more to do than just cold starts/stalling. What you mentioned above is called 'hanging idle', a sign of lean carb.
