FI is definitely the way forward. But a carburettor will always be reliable, and cheap to maintain. FI involves ECU, lots of sensors, battery power, fuel pump and what not. Just in case, if any one of them malfunctions, you will be in a huge trouble.

I've seen quite a few Apache guys converting there FI variant to Carburettor. The reason being is that availability of spare parts is an issue, and of course, the lack of skilled workers doesn't help either. Conclusion is, till the biking market in India gets matured enough, carburettor is all this country's consumers can handle.

Just speculating. It could totally be fiction.

Just had a talk with Hare Krishna and as per him he has Carb and ABS versions of Race Edition for delivery, but FI is not available. He still has one FI Variant of the old version. Talked will all the other major dealers in Mumbai and all have the same story. The Hare Krishna guy was saying that the Race Edition with Slipper Clutch is available only with Carb variant!!! The Race Edition ABS variant does not have the Slipper Clutch!!! He still does not have a clue on the timelines for the availability of Race Edition FI Variant. He was speculating for 2-3 more months. I have a feeling that they want to sell of their old version of 200 4V FI variant hence not pushing TVS for the newer variant.

Hello xbhians, I'm using rtr 200 carburetor on my karizma r without tps (throttle position sensor). It will be really helpful if any of you guys can post a photo of tps fixed in a rtr 200 carb. The tps is at the side of afr screw. Any help will be highly appreciated[emoji846].

Hi guys !! Need some help in understanding the fuel gauge of the bike.

What I understand is that when the fuel cock Is in ON position, the fuel stops flowing when the level is less than 2L. So we switch to reserve. Does this mean that the reserve capacity is 2L and considering and avg of 30km/l... I can go about 70km in reserve.

The fuel indicator starts blinking when the fuel is less than 1.8L in reserve. And this is when the Trip-F starts. So I can assume about (1.8L*30km/L) =54km once the Trip -f starts.

The fuel indicator remains ON when the fuel is less than 1.1L according to manual.

Is my understand correct or anything wrong in it ?
This is one thing about the bike where I always get confused !

simply i can say in on position fuel is given from the main tank and in reserve it takes from lower part.Avg is 35kmpl.a daily running or well maintained bike can give pretty mileage. No need to worry about that.I still get 38kmpl.

You can travel approx 38 to 45km in Trip F as far as know.Fuel reserve is 2.5ltrs

FI demand is there in India too, but when TVS takes more that 3-4 months to roll out the FI variant, no one is going to wait. Buyers need to have options in front of them to choose. When the only option that TVS is dishing out is the Carb variant, the market for the FI variant is automatically killed. It is the same situation as the chicken and egg story. Till you make FI variant available right from the start, else it is not going to be sold in volumes. You don't see Yamaha FZ25 in Carb and FI variants; Bajaj Dominar 400, RS220 have FI system. I would say that TVS is being lazy or dis-interested party here.

I personally find FI much convenient as compared to the carburetor ones.

Ya, the pic is of Race Edition Carb variant. Is it possible to confirm with the dealer whether they have the Race Edition FI Variant?

I have to agree with you here. TVS is being lazy. I have experienced it first hand and Im sure all owners here have the same feeling.

That ain't FI variant. All you need to see is the presence of the fuel knob below the left side of the fuel tank.
                            Knob present - carb
                            Knob absent - FI

I have completed 16800 kms on the ODO & first paid service done last month...

Now my rtr200 gets heated soon, after running about 10 kms. I feel the heat coming from engine on my legs. Heating problem started since last 3-4 days.

Engine oil is good & just above the minimum level indicated..

Are you feeling any difference in ride or engine because of excess heat.
If not then forget and enjoy the ride. For engine oil level if it is just above the minimum level means SVC guys haven't poured 1.2 litres. They must have poured only 1 litres. Buy synthetic oil from out and top up about 100 ml and then check the heat issue.
