Hi guys, this is my ownership review of the D400 from the 19 Jan, the day the bike was delivered to me.
Read a lot of reviews from many of the Dominar customers and yes, it is quite a rounded package from Bajaj.
Just to pack things in a nutshell, I've done 1200 kms so far, mixed with urban traffic and touring on highway conditions, finished the first service at 510 kms, a lot of the vibrations were negated and the throttle response improved after the first service.
I have been very religious with sticking to Bajaj's recommendations for the engine break in.
And all was running great, until last week when I was on the Western Express highway in Mumbai and suddenly my bike started feeling sluggish on the lower gears. I thought it was a fuelling issue intially until the drag started to increase beyond limit ultimately stopping my bike. Luckily I was riding on the far left side of the highway.
So I quickly checked and tried to find what the issue was.....And to my surprise.....My rear disc brake was completely locked in the brake callipers so much that the disc started giving off heat and a little smoke.

I looked at my rear brake lever and saw that it was not pressed..But still the callipers were stuck, after few minutes the brakes were free and luckily I was just about 10 min away from the Andheri Bajaj Sai service. So I immediately took the bike to them. And they checked the problem and said that they would get back to me...

However it took them almost 6 days just to find the problem...Out of all the brake related components, the master cylinder was creating the problems and they didn't even have it in stock, so they assured me that they've ordered it and that it'll be done within 6 days, as the component will be shipped from Pune.

Anyway it's been a long wait for me without my machine. Have written this article so that you'll are aware of how my Dominar has been progressing....Bajaj has made a very good product, but it's not perfect yet...
Until then all of y'all ride safe! Anyone facing similar issues do let me know. Thanks!

Yes I went to Spiti Valley on my Dominar till Kaza. Its performance is best . I started my journey on 17 March and return on 23 March 17.

        Delhi --> Narkanda --> RekongPeo -->Kaza -->Rekong Peo--> Shimla --> Delhi.

At that time roads are cleared but bad conditions, Snow is there on the side .Some places we encountered with black Ice and unfortunately my front mud guard is broke.

        Rest all is good .

        Thanks
        Puneet
Not sure you are the first, check out this thread: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/3...nate-snow.html. Anyway it was one of the first Dominars there, congrats!

          Hey folks.

On xBHP after what feels like ages.I have been using an Apache RTR 180 ABS for 2.5 years now, have completed 15,000 kms on it.

Is it just me or it feels like a lot of Apache ABS guys are going for the D400 ABS now?

I am planning on an upgrade. Touring capabilities with the RTR are extremely limited given the vibrations.
I have tried all sort of "jugaad" but the best thing to do is to just live with the vibes.
It doesn't irritate me given that it's my first bike and it is now a part of me. But the pillions always complain about it.

So my questions here are -
          1) How many of you have moved from RTR ABS to D400 ABS?
          2) The RTR ABS is fantastic! How does the Dominars' compare?
          3) I see a lot of notes on the vibes in D400 at the 4.5k level, is it anywhere close to our RTR's vibrations or just vibes by normal bikes standards?
          4) As is typical of Bajaj (even KTM), should I wait for a batch or 2 more till all the issues are fixed or are we close to a stable model and shall I go for the D400 by May?

          Thanks in advance.

Some say to wait for few batches to move out, some say to get first batches as first batches would be the best, reviews are made on those bikes, first ownership reviews come from first batches so actually first batch decides the future.

This is something i have heard.
            No idea [emoji51]

            Best of luck mate.
            Cheers.

No, i don't think it looks anything like this. This looks like a cat on its shackles. The Dominar looks properly like a Gir Lion in its body length and posture.

Nice food for the soul! The naked version bears a similar silhouette. Strictly speaking the details are not similar but yes the outline is somewhat similar.

Im guessing the brighter colours will be in the next gen update of the Dominar. Lets just hope Bajaj doesnt come up with a horrendous stripe - type sticker job (laser edge design) with the Dominar too.

I get 28kmpl in DELHI. Try staying at 3.5k rpm not above that and see if there is any difference. Also do get it checked as some guys are getting 30kmpl in city. Get the air filter cleaned up and also change the fuel pump. Use tank full to tank full for calculating fuel efficiency.

I never go beyond 3500 to 4000 rpm. Always use tank full to full till rim method. Never accelerate aggressively. And did u just said "change" fuel pump? That wil solve the problem?

                          Sorry my statement was confusing.
By fule pump i mean fuel station or petrol pump, u fill ur bike at. They might be cheating on quantity or quality.

Also throttle body cleaning and injector cleaning would help improve mileage.
