Wow dude.. you seem to have owned the perfect bikes for low end performance..unicorn, karizma and fz25..nice! Both our driving styles are quite similar then..Though recently ive started craving for brisk acceleration after i rode my brother's ns200.. i want a perfect mix of low end torque and brisk acceleration..i think fz25 perfectly into the equation.. i am considering cbr250 also but it seems to be losing out on low end punch..Originally posted by ankit.traveller View Post

Thanks. Still I have my karizma and no other bike can match its smoothness. Still after 5 years its exciting whenever I ride karizma.Originally posted by Sahil Goel View PostWow dude.. you seem to have owned the perfect bikes for low end performance..unicorn, karizma and fz25..nice! Fz25 will fulfil your desire for brutal acceleration upto 120kmph as its gear ratios and low end torque is set like that but after 120 fz25 loses its torque curve and tops at around 140kmph. Feel of acceleration between zma and fz25 is almost double.
NS and CBR250 are high revving machines where serious power comes at high rpm which results in better top end performance compared to fz25. IMO if you are not high speed tourer and love to tour mostly on hills then fz25 is the machine for you with another plus point of awesone mielage.
Lastly fz25 is a simple and pocket friendly bike to purchase and maintain further with no unnecessary gizmos and gadgets.

Please join this group. Me too from Guwahati...Originally posted by DIPANKARK View PostIts been one week with FZ25 and I'm fairly pleased with the bike. Handling and posture has been the biggest plus point amongst the current breed of 150-250cc bikes. 320km done on the Odo with 36kmpl on the city roads of Guwahati and with 42 kmpl (on console) on highways. Only thing creating a bit of concern is a slight squeaking sound coming at low speed from the front. I'm not able to find the exact source. First thought it was the disc but could not find any when rotated it with centre stand. Its March 2018 build and so far no coin rattling sound heard.
+
- Handling and seating posture
- Mileage (as of now)
- torque (for city rides) is encouraging.
- Looks...though fully plastic the whole design is subtle. Feel proud to take it to office.
- Exhaust note at low torque is bassy and at highs its just smooth brrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmm
-
- Headlight is a disappointment. Both throw and spread needs to be better
- Rear brake feedback is weak.
- Seat cushion
- Vibrations kick in after 65 km/s (hopefully will improve after first servicing)
- Mine had only single horn and it sounds like activa

I currently own a Karizma ZMR(2014) and I am looking to upgrade to FZ250. Following are my queries:
1) I am concerned about the low end torque of FZ250 as i am a very sedate kind of rider and hardly revv above 7500rpm. The karizma is unbeaten in this regard. I use my bike for touring and a short commute daily. For touring in hills ZMR is a monster!! I hardly have to revv above 3500 rpm to climb a steep. Even 3500 is too much..the bike climbs steeps at even 2500rpm and trust me I Do Not Have to Change Gears on an Incline unless the rpm falls below 2000rpm!! It is phenomenal! Heck! i weigh 72kg and my brother weighs 92kg.. I was in the basement of a mall and coming out on a steep entry.I put the bike in first gear with both of us on it..it climbed fine..i revved to 3500-4000rpm and put it in 2nd gear..it took the second gear like a BOSS and was still not just maintaining the speed but accelerating on the steep. I was surprised to my core!
question is how is the driving of FZ in hills? i am sure it does not climb like a zmr but how is it? How many gear changes are required?
2)Would the bike really be an upgrade considering its only a difference of 25cc?
1. FZ25 is based around torque & specially low end.
2. ZMR & Fz25 has bigger gaps than 25cc,huge torque difference .

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Having owned both bikes I can vouch for this. FZ 25 has substantially more torque lower down than the Karishma. [emoji1]Originally posted by niharx View Post1. FZ25 is based around torque & specially low end.

Thanks man! I currently own two bikes - Karizma zmr and 200ns.. as even at the time i bought them i was confused as to what i want... torquey or speedy and sporty..so i ended up buying both pre ownedOriginally posted by Ajax View PostHaving owned both bikes I can vouch for this. instead of one new.. its the same situation now..
Fz25 replaces the karizma(torque needs) and cbr250 replaces the 200NS(speed and sport needs)..Engine Torque Curve Prediction from Stroke length

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I'd suggest you to look for something more aggressive than the cbr250r if you are going for the fz25. The Yamaha will suffice your daily driving needs. Cbr250r is a very sedate bike. Has very less thrill. Look for something like the rc 200 for your sporty needs.Originally posted by Sahil Goel View PostThanks man! Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi all. I'm looking to buy a new motorcycle and the one at the top of my consideration list is the FZ 250. I just want to know a few things before I finalise the purchase.
1. Is there tappet noise issue on new models? I currently own a bike and I'm irritated by the tappet noise. If yes, is there a permanent solution to it?
2. Is it possible to tour long distances(>300km) continuously at about 70-90 kmph without engine being stressed, being an oil cooled one?
3. Is the bike vibe free and refined at all RPMs or is there extensive vibes?
4. What mileage should I expect for mostly highway rides(constant 50 to 60 kmph)?
5. What other problems of the bike should I know about? Is there anything you'd say to a potential buyer as an owner? Any advices about the bike?
Thanks in advance.....

1. Tappet noise is there but reduces after 10k kms. You will not hear sound if wearing snug helmet.Originally posted by newwannaberider View PostHi all. 2. Even 150cc can do that.
3. Slight buzz from 70kmph to 85kmph, after that all smooth. Comfortable cruising speed is 100-110kmph.
4. Mielage will be around 40kmpl at 60kmph speed.
5. No major probs I faced since 1 year

1. Can't say about new models, but in our first gen, tappet noise is present but it's just an irritant. Will go away completely if you go for better engine oil like Motul 7100 or Motul 300v.
2. Very easily, even in the mountains. You can even maintain speeds of upto 100 kph with sufficient ease.
3. Vibes, just like tappet noise, will go away with better engine oil as mentioned above.
4. 40 kmpl+
5. The rear brake is slightly weak. Release slave cylinder pressure and keep some gap between pads and rotors and they improve drastically.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Having gone through multiple posts, I wanted to put my opinion out on key discussion points. These are my opinions and based on my FZ25's performance so far @ 12000 KMS.
Tappets Sound:
The engine comes with these settings from the factory and I have been the firm believer in never fiddling with these.
The tappets sound is there when the engine is running hot and it is common on most of air-cooled 2 valve engines.
But post 10000 km or second service, the tappets sounds has completely disappeared even in hot Hyderabad summer. Suggest guys to not touch the engine unless it is critical. Our SVCs tend to screw up engines with incorrect torque fitting. 3 of my 4 motorcycles owned were made sure that SVCs don't open or touch the engine. My first CBZ Xtreme was screwed by SVC as they overtightened the head bolt resulting in thread damage. This resulted in the left side of crankcase changed (under warranty after escalation to Hero at the high level).
So, don't touch the engine if it is just tappets noise. They will disappear as you build kilometres.
Engine Oil
Companies invest in lots of R&D to identify the best-suited engine oil for a motorcycle. And this based on my experience has been true. Stick to the engine oil make and brand that your manual suggests.
Other engine oils may make you feel better, but that's just a placebo effect.
I tried with Xado engine oil that costs 1800/- litre and it was not good compared to Stock engine oil Motul 7100 for KTM Duke 390.
Tyres
Stock tires on FZ25 are decent enough. Unless you are corner craver and repeatedly hit race tracks. These will do the job. The wet grip is below average, but I would be careful on wet surface irrespective of the footwear the bike has.
If you are looking for an upgrade, there are good options like Michelin Pilot Street Radial and Metzeler H Rated Tyres.
Headlight
It is OK for city usage, but a desperate need for an upgrade when you hit the highway at speeds. Highbeam is hilarious at every level though.
A good option is to install auxiliary lamps. Not the blinding LED lights which have no focus and proper spread but the ones with the lens which handle proper projection.
Maintenance and affordability
It may be probably cheapest 250cc to own under maintenance perspective. General service does not cross Rs 1000 and fuel economy has been good (My FZ25 is returning 42 kmpl nowadays)2007 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
2008 - Yamaha YZF R15
2009 - Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme
2013 - KTM 390 Duke
2017 - Yamaha FZ25

1. No tappet noise on mine (Jan 2018 model) also with a good helmet no tappet noise can be heard.
2. I cannot comment on the engine stress, as i have not done any long tours till date on Fz25. However the seating posture is quite comfortable. you may have to add a little cushion on the seat though.
3. the bike is refined (below 5000 RPM) i have not taken over 5000 RPM as it is still in break-in period.
4. i am getting 30 to 38 in city (bumper to bumper traffic) , at highway below 90 Kph, you should easily get above 40.
5. no ABS and ineffective headlight on highways.
Hope this helpsLast edited by Abhilash831989; 04-06-2018, 06:01 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Hi Folks, i am owning Fz25 for last 10 months and covered only 5k in odo. Observed oil leakage type of things on left side of engine. Reported to local pune svc but they are saying " after an wash it won't be there" , yes it is partially correct but after every 500-700 km run i can notice this. Any one in this forum faced it before ?|| RIDE IS NOT MY PASSION || IT IS FOOD FOR ME ||
