    I have few questions:

    1. I feel the gear shifting feels bit tight. Is this normal for new bike? This is my first new bike. The current bike (Pulsar 180 which is now 15 years old) I got it as 2nd hand. So I'm not sure if the gear shifting will be normally be tight on new bikes.

    2. The dealer said that since this bike is BSIV, I should not turn off the engine not just by the engine kill switch, but even turn it off with key completely. This is understand when you are parking the bike for a moment. But the dealer said I should be doing this even in traffic signal else the battery will deplete quickly. It was cumbersome to turn off the bike with key and then turn back on when the signal goes green. Advise?
First off, congratulations on your acquisition

#1 - Yes, the gear shifts will be a bit hard. This is completely normal to have on a new bike. Since the engine is still bedding in and the gearbox and slotting is getting used to, it will be a bit tight. Post first service, this should change and gear shifts should become smoother after an oil change and a bit of running-in.

#2 - Yes, that's the right way to do it. Kill switch should only be used in emergencies. Turning the whole ignition off using the key is a good practice. Your dealer is right. Since the BSIV engines have DRL's and suppose if your switch off the bike only using the kill switch, the DRL's stay on. Since the bike is stationary, it will load the battery. Although it is a minor load, but it does affect the battery life in the long run. Turning the bike off with the key and turning it back on could be cumbersome, but hey, you don't have an option. Either you save petrol or you save the battery. In my case, i do not switch off my bike at signals if they are <60 seconds. If it is >60 seconds, i completely shut the bike off while keeping a tab on the signal. When the signal is <10 seconds, i turn the bike on and go about my day.

I bought the fz25 abs matte blue 2 days back. Upgraded from a 2013 hero xtreme. Overall the experience has been good. The only thing that is bothering me is the engine noise. There is a rattling sound in the higher rpms. I have covered just 165kms till now. Hoping that the noise gets reduced. Atleast after the 1st service. I had the same noise on my xtreme so it's a little annoying [emoji28]

Don't worry. FZ's tend a tick a little big higher than most motorcycles, but that's how the bike is. Nothing to worry, post first service, it should subside a bit. Don't bother the sound, enjoy the ride.

        Cheers!

Hey guys, Just had a doubt regarding Yamaha's PFA Carbon cleaner. Background:

The SVC advisor mentioned that my Fz25's pickup is not upto the mark, even thought the chain seems at the correct tension.

I felt it a bit laggy during my highway runs, especially during overtakes, but I thought it was due to time for the oil change and chain slack.

But I didn't mention this when I gave it for service, as it was just a minor drop. He himself told it after riding my bike.

Plus, my bike still gives me an average of 40 kmpl on a constant basis and my oil level remains nearly intact even after 4000 kms of varying riding. So I know, my engine is in good shape.

He asked me if I used the Carbon cleaner till date. I told since its just 18k kms old, I didn't see the need for it.

He told its good to use it every 3000 to 4000 kms to keep the everything clean.

Is he trying to rip me?. And I try to fill Shell power petrol every once in a while as it has cleaning properties and my bikes vibes go down a bit compared to normal fuel(not sure if its placebo effect )

So, is it really required for a 18k kms old bike?. Though yes, I did feel my bike doesn't give me the instant pickup I used to enjoy, when I rode it in the highway recently.

Yamaha SVC recommends using Carbon Cleaner every 3000kms.
Btw low pickup could be due to low quality fuel, better switch to other fuel pump and see if your problem regarding low pickup vanishes.
Had similar issues on my FZ. If you're using Premium fuels then you don't need to use Carbon Cleaner. Plus most think Premium Fuels are high octane fuel but it isn't.
If you're still facing problem then use normal fuel and use premium fuels once every 3 months.

I am from Bangalore. First few 3k kms I used Indian Oil local nearby fuel stations, and the bike (mine R15 v2) seemed to be not pulling cleanly though I was using iridium spark plug & motul 300v 10w40 engine oil.
I changed to shell v-power (which costs a bomb, more than 10-12 rupees than normal), it improved slightly, not fully, I continued to use it for nearly 3k kms, yet when petrol price went beyond 85 Rs. per litre.
I was not happy with Shell.
I went to Indian Oil COCO Fuel Station (beside Indiranagar Police Station, near Binnamangala). I fillled full tank. The change was drastic. The bike was pulling like it should be. I was clear that only COCO (Company Owned Company Operated) Fuel Stations use clean fuel (not altered fuel). Till then I don't fill full from non-COCO fuel stations.

Right Now, I fill from HP COCO Fuel Station near Manipal Hospital in Old Airport Road. The petrol quality is much better than Indian Oil, and bike pulls like what I wanted since long.
P.S. I use only normal petrol from HP, and I use PEA Carbon Cleaner 1 bottle in 6000km. My bike is running 29k plus kms.
              Regards
              Saikat

Not sure if this is the right forum for this question.

I am planning on selling my FZ 25 (2017) in Bangalore, which has completed 15,700 kms, without any issues and serviced a couple of days ago. What should be ideal price that I should sell it for?

Use carbon once at 10k or 15k. Not at 3000. But that will not make much noticeable difference. What i noticed is people dont change air filter. Change if its done 6000. Also maintain 25/35 psi. Your bike will fly provided that tappets are accurate.

speedometer was working or not ? if not, then abs was disabled and that's why it skid.

Hey hi I'm now on 20100 kms in my fz25 . Some strange problem is making me.worried to take long rides. When I turn on the key sometimes the bike just looses electrical power and speedometer is off. I have to turn off and turn on the key to get the electrical power back. Also sometimes bike looses electrical power while the starter motor is cranking the engine. What can be the possible reasons.

check battery/connection terminals, if lose tighten them. if battery voltage is lower than 12.4, get it charged or replace if it's original battery that came with bike. if those 2 are fine, get starter relay and ignition switch checked and replaced under warranty.
