And don't change Engine Oil brand, let TVS Tru4 to be in engine...And When going for Servicing make sure to ask them to Tightened all the bolts specially Silencer one, else they will only be doing Engine Oil change ....If possible take a day off & be there at SVC all day to get your work done..
Thanks for your reply. I will stay with TVS TRU4 PREMIUM oil.

I do have a problem with my bike. I cannot apply the first gear from Neutral if i press the clutch fully the bike refuses to go to 1st gear but when apply the clutch half pressed or partialy i can apply the first gear, the issue is not while applying 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. Is this a problem or a normal thing.

I owned a splendor 2003 model before owning this bike which has very short gear ratios. Can any one explain idle gears to be maintained for speed range for the apache. Thanks

Stock exhaust will ideally have a catcon(to control emission) and a muffler(to reduce noise), the gas which comes out will have to go through these and it will create a back pressure. In a free flow exhaust back pressure will be decreased by widening the pipe this will give better acceleration. Importantly, keep in mind that huge amounts of research go into making a good exhaust system, its not just as simple as putting larger pipes and taking off the catcon (this is a jugaad that many do). Sometimes it can have a negative effect on the performance as well.

      Thankyou...!!

Today I took a ride in the city everything was normal..After 25km of riding,I was doing speed of 60's when I need to stop for the signal,I braked & when I pulled the clutch lever, the lever became full tight..So I pulled left & checked/waited for some time & to my amazement the clutch lever became normal.. I have no idea why the lever just tightened up like hell & then normal after some time.. Is it the clutch plate ..?? Bike has done just 14k km

        Hi guys...
First of all, sorry for posting my bike's review this much late....
I got my beast last month. Yesterday morning gave her for 1st service.
        ODO READING-684km
MILEAGE-I guess about 40kmpl(I didnt check it properly because my clutch had some problems)

        Problems faced till now-
        1. One of the main problems that I faced was that my bike revved above 2.5k rpm even in the neutral.(I meant if I apply a little bit clutch also it roared...causing fuel wastage..)

        2. Second thing was that engine heated up a lot.(even after travelling for about 6kms also it was heated as if I had travelled for more than 50kms).I dont know if this is regular in other apaches.

        3. Gear shift- The gear shift was very hard. Some times it became stuck in neutral and second gear that i had to shift it again for getting it to proper gear.

I got her back for the SVC at about 3pm.
After the service they had adjusted the clutch and my first problem was solved. The SV agent told me that the gear shifts and engine heating problems will be gone only after 3rd service.

Things I love about my BEAST...
        * It is always willing to go faster.
*The pickup & power delivery it good.
        *Killer looks(the new headlamps , engine guard..etc. )

        Things I didnt like:-
*During night driving I felt that I needed a more powerful headlamp. The stock lamps does not give good vision.
*My rear brake was not effective sometimes.

Guys please help me on the things below:-
        * My speedometer blinks the service remainder light after the service also..Is there a way to turn that off till the next service.Or should I give it to SVC again to turn ot off...??
        * Please suggest me the different types of cleaning liquids for cleaning the body of my beast. Does using these types of liquids cause any problems to the paint..??
        * After I refueled from the petrol pump, the clock changed to default 12:00am..What could have happened?? I read the manual and it said the clock changes to default only if the battery is unplugged..
*I have not checked accurate mileage till now...Please tell me a method to find out the mileage more accurately.

Kindly help me on these things...

        Will upload the pics soon...

Regarding Service Indicator - Turn On Engine wait for light to go off & after that ... Simultaniously press Mode & Select button for 4 seconds.& then turn OFF Engine & again Turn On...(Note after that you have to set your clock again)

For Cleaning of Dashboard use Motomax & for White Body use 3m or Formula 1 product you can also use Motomax Products for all but might be bit costly.

Till 1-1.5k Mileage of 40 seems to be good, after completing 4k I am Getting Mileage of minimum 45 maximum i got is 52 to check you have to keep 1 liter bottle of petrol with you & have to drain petrol inside your tank completely...

Gear Shift will become smooth after few more hundred of kilometers dont need to wait till 3rd servicing.... but just be gentle with it :P

The rear fender is just rs 89+tax and labour would around 25rs + tax. I fitted the rear fender right from the day i bought the bike, it also make the bike look bettter.

See I would Say you can easily go for HID & all its Complete DC Set up & what you need to do is to maintain a good relationship with SVC Manager & request him politely that sir its not good for Dark nights where in I tour for Long trip so its really bothering me can i Change it to slightly higher voltage?

This is what i have done & he told me yes go for it but dont exceed Voltage too much ...

And don't go for Projector, It surely will cost you warranty .... Wait for 5 Servicing Vishnu ... as you going I am not surprised that it wont take 1 year for you to void free servicing ... So Wait ....

obviously after the warranty period not now. i had a chat with one of the SVC people in CochinTVS while i was there about the lighting. They said i could go for any kind of mods but at the cost of the warranty. but i could go in for an 55w bulb from Osram or so. (he said they might not notice it):P

but i am not goin for that anyway..happy to stay with warranty especially with such crappy service out here.

                          • REAR FENDER FLAP

'Your Apache RTR 180 is provided with a rear fender flap, which can be removed or re-fixed for a better look to suit your taste. Contact nearest TVS Motor Company Authorised Dealer / Authorised Service Centre for removal and re-assembly'

Guys, the above is quoted from page 2 of Apache RTR 180 User Manual. My Apache is a Feb 2010 model. I got the rear fender flap free of cost. It was not fixed at the time of delivery, but in due course i got it when i asked. Using it during rainy season is strongly recommended by TVS and is mentioned on Page 2 at the bottom as a Note as well.

So i think owners should get the rear fender flap free of cost.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Its included in OTR and comes fitted along with bike.

I never had any prob with my classic RTR The throw is good in high beam. 55W bulb would be enough.

Yeah ! This should have been in TODO list while picking up the bike.

Any one still running on GS150 air filters here ? Dont like the idea of riding around with a foam type air filter in rainy seasons.

                              • In the new version of RTR, the rear fender is not free of cost. Its an optional one.
The stock RTR come without rear fender, and we need to purchase it separately and fix it. This is even mentioned in my manual too.
