Yes, it is. The only 10W40 graded engine oil available from Motul other than the 300V FL is the M7100 ester 4T (FS but not double ester like 300V, sort of like a biggy bro of the M5100 ester 4T SS). The M7100 is costly too at around 800 INR. Best bet would be the AX7 SS. Hope some Mumbaikar would help you BroOriginally posted by krrishi View PostGuys, especially Mumbaikars, wanted to know from where can i obtain the Shell AX-7, enquired at the petrol pumps in my area & a couple of shops that stock up engine oil, unfortunately they have only Castrol& Motul 15w-50 in store which I think MAYBE a misfit for the RTR...even a Motul 10w40 would be perfect.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Ohh...i , for a moment concluded that the 10w40 from Motul would be SS, my bad...In that case I agree to what you said rtrlover- Shell would be the best bet, veedol & mobil too, are playing the cat &mouse game with my brains
..even i am hoping for a mumbaikar to help me sooner than later

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
I prefer shell advance ax7 to motul 5100 4t. I mean for its price, ax7 does a terrific job. What's the difference between single ester and double ester??Originally posted by Rtrlover83 View PostReally missing the Motul 5100 4T SS. Motul please bring this gem of an oil in W40 grade, back again

Just today changed the engine oil. From Shell AX7 to Motul SS 15w50 as I have to do a 800km run soonOriginally posted by krrishi View PostGuys, especially Mumbaikars, wanted to know from where can i obtain the Shell AX-7, enquired at the petrol pumps in my area & a couple of shops that stock up engine oil, unfortunately they have only Castrol& Motul 15w-50 in store which I think MAYBE a misfit for the RTR...even a Motul 10w40 would be perfect.
I strongly feel the choice of oil is based upon HOW you use the bike and WHAT for. If your journey is through Stop-Go traffic and mainly in city, it would be better if you use Shell AX7. However I have found Motul SS to be better on highways during long and continuous runs, apparently due to its increased viscousity.
It's not about the RIDE. It's about HOW YOU ride :]

@madhav766- Motul 300V FL (double ester) contains complex ester as well as micro molecular high polymer ester. This mix helps in providing 0% shear loss as per Motul. Lower (shear loss) percentages mean that an oil is more shear stable and will retain it's viscosity better during super demanding operations. 300V is mainly used for race purposes. The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. For the kind of riding you've mentioned, the Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40 is good enough. It is a premium mineral oil from Motul and one cannot go wrong with this one (safe to expect the very best oil properties from a mineral oil). Make sure to replace it at 3 months/2500 km. Check whether it is a 1 litre pack because 900ml ones are more common.

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Prakruthi TVS jalahalli. Good mechanics, good response from all people in svc. I'm not saying they're the best. They're good. Sadly they're understaffed. Too many vehicles. A little shouting will get your work done.Originally posted by huntphani View PostWhich SVC do you get your bike serviced from?
