Has the disc plates being fixed correctly? Have you tried pressure washing the plate and then riding?

What I knew one can get current RTR into DC but rewinding and changing the RR unit....
APE RR unit costs - 1100INR
wiring would cost - 500INR (approx) + other tits and bits

Mine is going strong bro... no issues with the conversion yet!
The link given earlier and this one j.mp/RTR180DC is more than enough.

Remember this will void your warranty. Also, its best to retain your stock coil and RR if you ever plan to sell or revert back to stock.

Also, using HID on plain reflector is just insane, puts the oncoming vehicles in danger, and in the process you too. I use them only when I'm doing full night rides on 4-laned, median separated highways. If you plan to use them all the time, please consider installing them in projectors.... just IMHO

Thanks broI should stick to the stock set up right now,as there is still exactly 13 months warranty left.
And hoping that the new DRL can be installed on the old RTR's without any major changes Do post if anyone gets to know about it

So last friday got a new pad set and replaced. Now this has also started squeaking....

Lijo, considering the brake pads you replaced are TVS OEM,i think its normal for the brake pads to make light squeaking noise when they are new.Log in some few more kms and see if the problem still persists.

                  • Hiccup Problem Solved!!

Ok guys , I had recently posted about the hiccup problem.. it had gone worse.. ! SVC guys are of no frikkin use. So went to a local mechanic..
told him to Completely clean the carburettor in front of me.. He did it properly! and he told me to get a new diaphram .
so i did buy a new one.. costed arnd 288 INR (Pulsar's) RTR's costs about 500 INR.

Ok after doing that too the hiccups still existed! he then tuned the Carburettor .. Thankfully it reduced by a huge margin! Still the problem persisted!
so i came home read a few threads about adjusting the AFR screw and thought of giving it a try myself! So i did trial and error for about 1 hr ... finally got the best tuning !
but still some amount of hiccups wer there!! i was pissed off.. so i took out the TPS and oiled it properly(since it was not moving smoothly to and fro).

And to my Surprise.. there have been no hiccups till now!! Phew im in love with my Bike all over again !

                          • ^^Stick to the stock Bosch plug. It's the best one for our bike. Try to replace it every 10K km.
You could buy 4 of those for the price of 1 Iridium plug by NGK which BTW does not come with a twin electrode setup.
                            So, what say?

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

                            • @ Lijok,

The same squeaking noise drove me mad for about a full year. I had to replace the pair of barely used brake-pads twice; but to no avail. I also thought it might have to do something with the alignment or improper fitment of the rear-disc. However, the third time I replaced the pads it came as a great relief. The noise had gone and only the pads were to be blamed (at least in my case they were!).

I noticed the previously used pads were on a harder side compared to the new ones. There were a few cracks on its surface, and to best of my knowledge, they were the cause behind this irritating squeaky noise every time the wheel was rotated. Thankfully, there's no such problem now!

There are a lot many other issues with my bike though. The hiccups between 4-7k rev range are just unbearable. I thought of replacing the TPS unit but the service head here is adamant if there's any problem with that; refuses my request. What shall I do? Replace it or fiddle with the other things?

OT: Checked the new untamed TVS beast. Looks fine in metal IMO. Every panel is now edgier and sharper and muscular. The head-unit is definitely an eye-sore as it doesn't gel with overall design. If TVS can do something about it (lower it, perhaps) then this a worthy cosmetic upgrade.
If you ride like there's no tomorrow...worry not there won't be!

I too suspect the brake pads are at fault... like I mentioned, I ran with the previous pads on the new disc plate for few 100 kms and nothing wrong. The latestest pad also look just the same as the previous one which started squeaking. I guess they are the same batch... they have sort of brass colored spots on the surface. I'm assuming pad material is different. Once I'm in chennai, I'll buy another set from some SVC there and try, for one last time!!

Hiccups.. hmm I still have them, but right at 3k and 4k rpms. I've cleaned it, replaced diaphragm, tried different jets, replaced TPS, disconnected it, disconnect choke cable... tried everything other than swapping the carb.
I read somewhere that this BS29 carb develops some flatside or something after some time, not sure what it is, but affects the AFR where it gets 'stuck'. If you have some friend who has a 180,without hiccups (important ) try swapping it for a few days and see...
I'll most probably get a new carb when I'm financial more stable
Right now, I'm either puttering around inside city below 3k rpm, or ripping away like hell on the highways... so can live with it
