Could you get that service done before the journey? If not, get a Tru4 Premium 10W30 from the SVC and top up asap. A measure cup would be handy. From what you've said, some 250ml would be needed.

P.S. Before checking, be sure the engine is cold and the bike has been in central stand for around 10 mins.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Shahbaz, this is the second time in less than a week that you have given me a good suggestion but the only hurdle that prevents me from doing so is the discontinuation of warranty, but am seriously thinking of putting in motul the next time, thank you for the suggestion

I would definetly try to get the service done before the journey RTRlover but, am not sure wether they will service it before its due date, will try otherwise as you suggested ,will do the top up,been getting mini nightmares about piston blowing up...i have checked the level everytime after a gap of almost 24 hours with the bike parked in centre stand throughout, thanks for your suggestion RTRlover

Firstly, I hope you checked the oil level while the bike was in central stand.
Secondly, please go and top it up before the trip and do a proper servicing. Maybe the svc guys were too ignorant or may be it was the main stand thing.

Aweee.... good to know I am helping ...

And Well AFAIK, and experienced with TVS SVC guys there percentage of catching us changing engine oil is less then 5% & they never checked recycled Oil. And most of the people out there are agreed with me too change Engine Oil & they have no issue but only thing wass i should use same grade plus it should be done at TVS SVC only...

And one more thing is add Motul or whatever you want run your vehicle for say 2-3k & then when you go back to change Oil then there hardly chance they will catch you & second thing is if you experienced problem in Bike then you can change Engine Oil by yourself again to TVS Tru4 & Take it to SVC it hardly cost 300 rs/-...

OT:- Going for Alibaug Ride tomorrow my first Ride to start my touring Journey... Can say Amateur Ride.

            • Need help with front disc setup

              Hi Guys,

I am not sure if this is the right thread, but if someone can tell me if the front disc setup of Apache RTR 180 can be used as a direct fit on Pulsar 150?

I am not so happy with my Pulsar 150's front discs and was rather smiling ear-to-ear when I rode my friend's A180 and used the front BEAUTY brakes. I am refering to the brake line, petal disc and calipers as a set. If not then it is possible to use the brake pads as a direct fit?

I didn't post it in HELP ME section as its completely my personal opinion and choice and feel. The feel a bit spongy. Checked the pads, brake oil, everything was good, but may be the A180 brake feeling was missing.
              Regards,
              Akash Yadav

The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place. It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.

I would suggest you to change oil before the trip especially if its a 200+ km trip(to & fro). You can go for semi synthetic Shell AX7(10w40 grade).
I do the oil change in local mechanic & when I goto SVC for usual servicing, I tell them that I havent crossed much km(say some 800-1000km only) so no need to change oil. Also there is nothing like you have to take servicing only after due date & never before. I have done it couple of times before any long trips. You can tell the same to them that you are going for a trip so get everything checked up. Try to create a rapport with SVC main guys/ mechanical heads.

Guess will go into servicing tomorrow as i dont want to risk anything, how is shell?is it good in keeping the engine cool enough? you have a nice idea over there, will try & implement it,
i have a good equation with the supervisor over there,he takes into consideration all my problems, but by the time the problems are known to the mechs, there is a big communication breakdown as the poor supervisor is always multi-tasking, everyone there wants a piece of him, nevertheless i Thank you for your inputs Susheel

Well akash, even i am not sure wether this is the right thread for the question, guess you can do it,MIGHT require mods, try asking in the pulsar ownership thread.

I am not so happy with my Pulsar 150's front discs and was rather smiling ear-to-ear when I rode my friend's A180 and used the front BEAUTY brakes. We too, smile ear to ear,(every single day) at the amazing braking power of this BEAUTY....again MIGHT require mods, best option is to consult a local mech or try & butter up a TVS SVC mech to get the solution to your problem or maybe wait here for the experts to give you a definite answer.

I didn't post it in HELP ME section as its completely my personal opinion and choice and feel. The feel a bit spongy. Checked the pads, brake oil, everything was good, but may be the A180 brake feeling was missing.
Posting this in the HELP ME section could have given you better & clear answers but as you said it was your choice to not do so. you are right, the feel indeed is a bit spongy even tough the pads&oil are in good health. The RTR feeling is missing because no two bikes can be the same just like the way two human beings differ from each other qualitywise & ability wise.
There is no harm in trying the HELP ME section or the pulsar ownership thread to get a solution, good luck.

Good..dont risk on your beast or else the beast might turn against you..
Btw Shell AX7 semi-synthetic oil is one of the best in class and unlike fully synthetic stuffs you dont have to worry about checking the oil levels everyday & do top-ups..Also the draining period for the same oil is 2500-3000km. You will find the magical effect of the oil only after some 20-40km of riding after the oil change. After that your bike will have smooth gear shifts. Also you might notice that after 2500km the oil will loose its magical stuffs but still can hold on formal normal sane riding. I have done a 600km journey one day with lots of insane riding & still it holds on pretty well. As you see the grade level is 10w which means its good for winter season as there wont be any cold start issues & w40 means its also good for long journeys or hot conditions & the engine wont get heated up that fast. Trust my word & btw advance Onam wishes.. Happy riding..

You could also try Motul 3100 Gold 10W40 4T (Technosynthese). I suppose it will give more bang for buck. This one AFAIK is semi-synthetic but not as hard core as the M5100 ester 4T (495 INR).

Costs almost the same as the Advance AX7.

P.S. Have not yet tried this one.
