Madhav, bro its not exactly downgrade. I have used both and can say with confidence that the mineral AX5 is way better than the "SS" TVS Tru Oil. Maybe just my personal experience. Leave that apart. In any case what RTRLover said is bang on - you need to give time to break in your engine, the piston and its seals. For that you need denser oils, which is exactly why Mineral oils are to be used atleast till 5000kms. I agree, SS oils are usually better than Minerals in almost all aspects. But there's a time for each of it. You dont use a FS Oil at 1000km. Similarly.
It's not about the RIDE. It's about HOW YOU ride :]

I've asked this and had it answered many times. Please explain the credibility of this information. A source or an article would help. Please. Seniors like pinaki and blackthorn said semi synthetic oils have additional stuff that fortify an engine. They say. There is no harm in using such an oil right away.

Please do not get me wrong. I only want the best care for my bike. Thus I ask so many questions.

P.S. I and a whole lot of others here in xBhp do not support Motoman technique for engine break-in.

          • And to be honest, you gotta check any Engine Oil level no matter what Motul (4k), Castrol (3k) or Shell (2.5k-3k) claims, sometime due to some issue in engine or due to temperature & few other factors oil level drops.. So its better to check minimum 1k Kilometer without fail (Those who ride max) else check it in 15 days ...

No mechanic will charge you if you just visit for Oil level Check, so its free & 1 min Job too...

            P. S. This oil's level will drop a little faster so frequent checks and required top ups are a must. There should always be a spare bottle at your home (won't be that easy on the wallet for many). Cost in Trivandrum 780INR.

            • Yes, it's always safe to check the engine oil level on a regular basis no matter what oil is in use But with the Advance Ultra, one has to be more careful. This oil's level will drop much faster than any other oil especially if spirited riding is done often. Me along with Drifty Bro has experienced this.

It would be much better if oil level is checked at home preferably on mornings. All the oil would be drained to the sump and an accurate reading can be taken. The owners manual clearly states how to check oil level. Just make sure the bike is in central stand for about 10 mins prior to checking. If one rides to a SVC/local garage and get the level checked soon after reaching there (IF that's the case), reading will be so very wrong

P.S. As Traveller01 shared below, FS engine oils in general need way more attention than mineral/SS ones. I have experience with the Shell Ultra FS only. But, it's a superb oil at that, put aside the cost factor.

              • Yes, I had similiar incident of drop in oil level when using shell advance, even castrol power racing FS has the same problem. Creates a problem/worry during long rides.

                • hi guys,
I have a question for you, I serviced my bike on last 27th Nov and completed approx 660km on ODO, Suggest me oil which can improve my bikes performance & reduce vibration problems. As i have read before lot of guys talking about shell petrol, Is really shell gives the smoother control for RTR..... If yes then i'll follow it

                  waiting
If you ride like there's no tomorrow... Don't worry there won't be !!!!

Well. Can't promise anything. But using the best will guarantee the best. for now stick to tvs oil. Later you may start experimenting with different oils.
