And my experience so far (covered 100kms in 2 days) -
    • Bike Vibrates a lot around the 5k RPM band, since its in Run in , I am yet to exceed that.
    • The gear shifts are very very hard, especially from 1st-2nd, I literally have to yank it with my legs
    • Filled in a good 7 litres but the Gauge is already on the last Bar, I guess 2.5 went to reserve, but mileage seems bad.

I agree that the first service will solve most of these issues. And it just hit me that I did not get a name plate or any free goodies from the dealer! For waiting 2 months, they should have given me something at least
you missed to mention the engine over heating . Because I also had all these issues in her early days

My beast completed 6 months / 4k km and its now giving 38kmpl in bangalore city. The same bike gave only 20 - 24 kmpl in its initial days (first 3 months).

Oh of course that too, but I thought it was normal on a pre first service engine. The Gear box is so damn hard but.
It almost feels like my previous bike (Passion Plus ).

I went past the 85 mark already on a downhill. In the run in I am not crossing the 5k RPM mark. Is the limit on RPM or Speed for the Run In?

And by the way, the Remora tyres are pretty good if you ask me. Don't know what the fuss was all about. It feels planted on the road (only dry so far) and maybe because of the ABS, but the braking is real good.

        Hello,
Congrats for the beast. As you mentioned that your gearbox seems hard, I did not find any such issues with my steed. Gave her for the first service today. Gear box is butter smooth. There were false neutrals sometimes though. Other than that, everything seems good. Vibrations are a part of her so we should live with that.
Let's see how good she behaves after the service.

False Neutrals? My bike never ever shifts to neutral. Literally have to struggle to get it to neutral so far, its not a big issue of course.
And vibrations around the torque band is fine, it shouldn't be on lower bands. So, you don't have to live with it

You should get the gearbox checked maybe?
Vibrations occure when you hit 5k RPM and not lower than that. The svc guy said that they will ease out after the service.
By the way, this is my first bike and im glad that i made a good choice.

No, this is pretty much expected of a pre first service bike. And its not the best oil in market either. matter of fact it has become smoother after 100 kms (the 80km in 3 hours helped). The vibrations are expected at the torque band of 6.5 RPM, around 5 the vibrations are only in the lesser gears which is again expected.

And congrats on the first bike, this is pretty much my first too, except that I have been riding a Passion Plus for more than a year.

The limit during run in is on the rpm.
It's okay to exceed the limit occasionally for brief periods of time.
                Enjoy your new bike

Hey guys.. I did a long-ish ride recently from Hyderabad to Nagpur and back on my Apache 180. I noticed a minor oil leak from the cylinder head area, so I got it looked after from TVS ASS in Nagpur. On my way back, while cruising at 100-110, I felt a sudden loss of power (as if the engine was being starved of petrol) and the engine stalled [emoji33]. I cranked it twice, it didn't start. Upon inspection, I noticed this massive oil leak from the cylinder head area (same place as before). I thought that I had ceased the engine by depriving it of engine oil. But then I checked the oil level, it looked fine. Thankfully, after cooling her down for some time, the bike started. I kept her below 100kmph for the remaining 400km ride back, which was uneventful.
Now, I showed it to an ASS in Hyderabad ([emoji3]), they handed me a bill of 2200 bucks, saying that they had to 'thuru' some part of the head.

If you see the bill, they've charged me 450 bucks for labour, and a separate 750 for the truing job. They're saying that they got the truing done from a separate workshop, and the 450 bucks is for taking everything apart and re-assembling. Will the experts here tell me, is 450 for labour justified or did I get taken for a ride? Also, why did the bike stall on my way back? Any theories?

That's why I never believe/trust anyone with my bike ,be it friend or svc.
Always stick to your bike while servicing, and ask what they're doing .!! ,
This practice has saved lot if trouble and 1000₹ for me till now.

It would help if you could tell us exactly what they throughed. Labour usually cost upwards of 200/- depending on what is being done in an ASC. So as far as 450/- for labour is concerned it seems fine provided they actually did something.
I think the bike stopped on the highway because one of the valves got stuck open. But really I can't figure out what they did by the bill.
Additionally, throughing is done to straighten bent parts like if you had an accident and you handlebar got bent then you'd need to have it throughed. So my best guess is that one of your valves got stuck open and got bent or the camshaft may have been bent. In which case throughing would be an excersice in futility as its cheaper, faster and safer to replace the parts.
Buddy I can't be sure but I'd have to say you got ripped off. I am still not sure about that part as you are yet to identify what was done to your bike so I suggest you find out about it before you decide to take action against svc.

I think cruising at such speeds puts a lot pressure on the engine thus the leak happened.
If you're into such high-speed cruising I suggest you to start using fully synthetic oils.
Also keep your speeds under 100kph while cruising as air cooled engines may overheat on constant high speed riding.
