BTW,Renny if you are nearby this thread(I know you are) I wish to know more about the missing catcon in the Fi exhaust system..If there's no catcon then it'd free-flow..Is that the case?

Free flow exhaust and a exhaust without a cat are different,the routing of the pipes inside the free flow exhaust changes from engine to engine thereby making huge diff at the backpressure, thus improving the performance and sometimes efficiency.

The diff between RTR180's, RTR160 and FI's exhaust is nothing, but simply a missing Cat Con, putting a non CAT exhaust in RTR180 may sound more good and grunty but will pollute the MOTHER NATURE.

The bike is probably idling in there that's why.


A system that's operating in open loop is using the information it receives from its sensors to select a predetermined amount of fuel from its stored map. Once it selects the air/fuel ratio it wants it doesn't particularly care what happens in the combustion chamber or what's coming out of the tail pipe. The majority of fuel-injected motorcycles operate with open loop systems.

A closed loop system is one that uses an oxygen sensor to measure the amount of unburned oxygen in the exhaust system and adjust the mixture based on its inputs. For street use oxygen sensors are primarily used to limit emissions at idle and cruise speeds, and to protect the catalytic convertor (if one is being used) from overdosing on fuel. Closed loop systems operate only when there's little demand for power and conditions don't change very quickly, I.E. during idling and cruising. Whenever power is called for, the system must revert to an open loop. Because they cause the engine to run lean, closed loop operation can also cause surging problems at light throttle openings, especially on twin cylinder engines. For street use, closed loop systems are primarily driven by emission control requirements.

Hi guys, i am planning to buy new apache rtr but i am confused between RTR 160 fi and RTR 180.
I have heard that initial pick up of both the bikes are same, the 180 moves faster than 160 fi after 60...and that 160 fi is smoother than 180
What is the milage of RTR 160 fi and RTR 180.
Can anyone differentiate between the two bikes properly.
Which one is better the RTR 160 fi or RTR 180.

Disc brake problem

Hi All,

I got my bike after 1st servicing, and I am not at all satishfied with the quality of servicing at adyar ramkay.
Even they dont wash my bike properly and didn't even touched the inner mudguards and frames.I dont know whether they have even serviced my bike or juts polished and gave it to me..

Now I am facing a new problem..My rear disc is not working at all ....Means to say even I give hard brakes it behaves like a completely rotten drum brake..Even the braking unable to stops the bike on very low speed (23kmph.....)

I am really disapponted with the servicing and dont know what to do ? Even almost met an accident due to the disc brakes ....

TVS Servicing is pathetic in big times......

Probably your bike's brakes/lines need to bleeded so as to improve their efficiency.Get it done and also check your brake pads.

Thanks for your suggestion...But before servicing the brakes are razor sharp..both fron and rear..and now the rear is almost gone ..

I called up the SVC guys and told me to bring the bike...so hopefully it will be done tmrw....

Hmm. Make sure you are present while they are working on your bike.That way you will make sure if they are doing their duty properly or not!!

The biggest problem is the communication.. I am also from orissa residing in chennai ..So there is very little or no chance to interact with the mechanic...

That to they are not allowing me to go the workshop... and I cant force them...by any means...

So just have to believe their words..Lets see..whats happening tmrw..

Regarding the disc brake: The problem might be due to Air lock,That was the reason they gave me for the non-responsive disc brake. You can contact Srini ( 9841777643) , he is the guy who used to service my bike in Adayar Ramkay.
