Mine is 39 lot, 38 Kmpl max.But i have to say,i haven't had a single problem with the bike, except the cam timing chain noise. And for reasons unknown The SVC guys Changed my Cone bearing and rear right shock absorber in my 6th servicing.no problems at all till now.And i rev hard and pop wheelies all time. The only thing that needs replacing is the rear tire.

Feel sorry for you man,Sometimes people are just unlucky,Maybe you just got a defective one.My advice would be go talk to Mr.Subedi(The SVC incharge)tell him about your problems.Just try to befriend him.

A point to note is that The SVC uses GULF 4t,oil which is 20w50.I recommend you stay clear of this. You are better off with castrol activ 4t
.At least that's what i do.

Did you buy from AIT TVS?

Is it ok if i go to a mechanic who is reliable?
Is Motul 3000 mineral a good oil, which one do you think is the ebst, i'm ready to use FS/SS/MO.
Well, you can get it checked from your reliable trusted mechanic.I had not used the Motul 3000T mineral oil yet but it should do well as the rating is 20W40.IMO FS oils are just not worth buying!

        • Hi,Saipranav

I have been having the same sort of noise from my bike sinch last 2 weeks. I visited the svc 7 times they are unable to rectify the problem as it only comes when the bike is in motion and it dosent make the same noises in higher gears. If the sound is like (Whistling like Choo-choo-chee-chee-chan-choon) then its nt a clutch plate problem neither the sprocket problem. I got the bike checked with my local mech he says tht maybe due to the tapets. In my bike the sound only comes at speeds lower than 40kmph.

U know wat the svc's reply after telling a problem is -"drive another 500 kms because this part is new and it will settle down" so i have just started to avoid the svc.

The only good thing for me is tht im sendin the engine head to joel tommorow and will get the whole setup done so will be far from my heart for some time.

For ur problem i would say start 1by 1 on each and everything, it maybe a long process but thts the only method which can help to rectify unknown noises.

          • an update.
Throttle cable assembly got broken (yes, it is what happened followed by that 'tick' sound) yesterday, while trying to start the bike. Glad that i wasn't in the middle of a road or something. This happened at my garage. Replaced the assembly today by bringing mech home. Now everything is fine
Going to give the ride a service tomorrow. Completed 11000 odd km.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

                  • front wheel wobbling

                    hi, guys

i recently experienced one more problem with my menace. When i get to speeds of 60+ and remove my hands from the handle the bike startes to wobble as if it is facing a earthquake and the handle seems like a ghost is shaking it. The tyre pressure is correct as per the manual, tyre size is the same too, wheel bearings have been changed 2 months ago.

So plzz can some one point out what the problem is? Drifty, garry and other buddies plzz throw some light

This happened to me too after I got the bike back from Bangalore but I was still holding the handlebars. It was quite scary too. This is what i believe is called tank slapper.
I guess in my case it would have been because I accelerated suddenly on uneven road surface.
However if its happening when you leave the handlebar then try checking the fork alignment. Had this problem and was resolved with alignment
Has anybody else experienced the same?

Well i am not as knowledgeable as drifty or garry, but i think i faced the same problem with my old 160FI.My fork alignment had been damaged after a light crash. It wasn't noticeable at low speeds but at high speeds it wobbled like hell.Turns out my handles were misaligned too. A quick alignment procedure fixed it,along with the replacement of the Front Fork cones.Still vibrated like hell after that, but the wobbles were gone.

i am also facing the same problem. A local mechanic told me that it is due to uneven wear of the front tyres and that it will vanish in due course of time. Since then it has covered 1500 kms, but i am not feeling any change. It is as fresh as when it started.

                            • yesterday i took my bike to 11500 RPM in the 3rd gear...it touched 100 on speedo......but at that moment i felt that the engine was about to switch off and there was a jerk....what couldbe the problem.....last time i had taken it 11500 RPM in the third cog the engine got switched off....

also i am facing vibrations...at all RPMs...even in cold weather i poured in castrol power 1 engine oil and got it serviced recently....about 119 kms back....the svc guy told me that he tuned the carb for optimum settings

                              • Shell SS oil

Hey Guys... Shifted from TVS Tru4 to Shell SS 10W40 for my RTR 180 ABS.

Here's some difference I felt in the performance.
                                - The vibes have reduced to a great extent. Previously they used to occur at > 4000 RPM's and more in the afternoon.
                                - Bike starts in the 1st attempt even when the engine is extremely hot.
                                - There is a smoothness at higher RPM's. The gear shifting feels smooth.

                                feels great
