You can clean the air filter yourself at home. And why you need to open the carb drain screw? Its only useful for draining the petrol when there is gunk accumulated/water in the float chamber.
Here is a D.I.Y on air filter cleaning on RTR,it may help..

      • Finally managed to get the trademark tappet sound at just 1050kms...and also got alot of vibrations on the handle at 50-60 didnt cross 60 so dono about the further part.....Is the tappet sound harmful to the engine...should i get it checked immediately and also any suggestions on how to reduce the vibes (at 57-58 it got a bit unbearable).

        • RPM Meter faulty

          Hi all.

As discussed earlier my RPM meter was acting funny. It first started by going beyond the zero point in anti clock wise and would show me lower RPM reading when riding the bike.

Took it to the Service center, the mech winded it to zero and it was working fine then, after everything when we tested the bike the RPM meter started acting funny again. He said the RPM meter is gone bad and the entire console needs to be replaced. This would cost Rs. 3550 + i would loose all the KMs on my bike due to a new console. I didnt replace it

Then after a few days the meter started runnning anti clockwise and had gone completely wack!!! Finally the RPM meter bar came of the pivot and is now lying in the console dead.

I was recommended to get the meter repaired at any mechanic who can fix it for under 1000. Any help with details for a good mechanic who can help me fix my RPM meter and not screw around with the console. Also some one who is not expensive on the pocket. Looking for options in Mumbai

Unfortunately I am also past my warranty and therefore looking for options apart from replacing the console. Someone please help as i don't wish to replace my console for the RPM meter ticker only. I don't wish to loose all the kilometers.

Someone in an earlier post mentioned that it can be repaired, need direction for a mechanic in Mumbai who can repair the RPM meter.

The tappet noise ain't harmful. The bike is new so avoid getting things opened if they aren't needed. Let some time pass, maybe till 3rd service atleast. Hope the noise ain't much. About the vibes, they're one of the characteristics of RTR engine. However, they increase if parts become a bit loose. Check with the engine mount bolts and the coneset for the handlebar vibes if they're loose .

the noise usually comes above 55kms and in the city i rarely get open roads to go so fast but the vibes are bad....can you post some pictures of which bolts to tighten so that i can try it on my own first. The svc people are very fussy here.

                      • @PSR Sir & all members:Lately when I opened the carb a few days back,I have seen there are some pitting marks on the piston valve of the carb, the surface is whitish in colour at some spots. What is the reason for the pitting marks? Will it affect the performance of the carb in some way?Do I need to replace the valve?I had applied 2t oil on the piston valve some time back for smooth functioning of it.Need some inputs on this. This topic is never been discussed here before.

The way I ride, its most of the times ripping , I get 38kmpl, otherwise around 42-45kmpl. And I have always used Speed from good BP Pump

Premium fuels have additives in them which prohibits sticking of carbon particles to the engine. The use of normal vs speed petrol is highly debatable though. Specially with the engines with high compression ratio
