i took it for my 2nd service today and he just took out the intake screw on the engine the silver big one and put sum sort of paste on the other side and put it back (am guessing it was to completely seal it and prevent oil from leakin)...is that what shouldve been done or should he have opened the engine and checked from where the oil is actually leaking??

Thats ok , and if it happens again ask the svc to check the gaskets.

@ALL : For the issue I had here, gave the bike to svc in the morning, got a call just now that the estimated 'fatka' would be 4500INR (including servicing and other things). Will go after some time to collect it, will post the bill here

          • apart from abs what does rtr abs offer over standard rtr 180?
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i have learnt to manipulate my own adrenaline and the perception of biking is different.
            #overkill is underrated.
#how random roads may appear there is always a destination.sigpic
#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

I'll share my thoughts here. Correct me if wrong. Absolutely No offense meant to any manufacturer or bike owner.

The advantages of the new Bajaj Pulsar, AFAIK are fuel injection, liquid cooling, 6-speed gear box. It will sport wider and stickier rubber. It might look super cool and would be comfortable on long rides too. I don't know about power and torque figures.

Apache RTR is a sport bike.
                  1. A short stroke motor which love's to be revved. Exhaust note is nothing but sweet music.
                  2. A chassis which aid brilliant handling which is second, only to the YZF R15.
                  3. Set of brakes (Non ABS) the performance of which, is still unmatched by competition.
                  4. Reliable engine which is based on the Suzuki Fiero.
                  5. One of the best gear boxes ever. It shifts like knife slicing through butter. That is, it's smooth while giving that much needed feel.

Take your time and make a decision. Update us.

The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

                    To add to it-
                    • Apache has the best accleration/pickup which is immensely useful in stop/go city traffic.
                    • Minimal maintenance costs.
                    • Good mileage considering the power it offers.

And about the gearbox-true,it does its work but still I feel it's not near the gearboxes of Yammies-i.e FZ and the like.

No Bro, it's more than that. Wish you'll come to know the difference at some point.

                        • yesterday i gave my RTR 180 for its 2nd service at 1050kms (my college is close to my house and i dont really go touring ) they just changed the engine oil and i think oil filter..when i asked him about the other things like air filter cleaning he said since you havent completed so many kms it will be done in 3rd service.....The problem is that now it feels like the RTR has lost its throttle respone, the speeds are ok i dont push it beyond 4k rpm.Should i open the air filter and clean it myself or maybe water mustve gone in during cleaning..should i open the nut on the carburetor (the nut next to the air/fuel misture nut) to let the water out......please help fast i want the signature RTR back

If u want to wait, then u can wait even for the new TVS 200CC+ bike. For whatever Bajaj launches, I bet TVS will make sure that the RTR's will be quicker then them.

The RTR 180 is already a fine product.
