From my experience, the first cable which comes from the factory alone is long lasting (up to 30,000 kms). After that, the replaced cables lasts only 1 or 1.5 years (10 to 12k kms max)

If your bike's cable is rusty, replace it. It will cost Rs. 74.

OK. Now I oiled it and problem is almost solved. I will replace it on 30000 km. Now odometer clocks 27300.

In most cases it doesn't work for long after oiling. (If inner has that usual plastic type cover )

My 2007 Dio owners manual states its safe to run e10 (maybe more, can't remember exactly), so at-least the honda's were designed to run on this blend. Am pretty sure other manufacturers also take this into consideration while building/tuning their engines.
And btw, am a happy user of Adon-P and Iftex system G.
S1d bhai Just to share info I learnt recently.
          Petrol/Gasoline itself isn't 1 or 2 or even 3 components mixed/blended together.
It is a carefully controlled blend or you can even call it a recipe, of around 15 to 20 components.
So moisture/ethanol just becomes an addition to the party [emoji39]
And the inline filter you mentioned is of a universal size ?

Forget ethanol blended fuel.. even our regular fuel at times might be contaminated with water and what not
Just add an inline fuel filter that you get for 10-20 bucks and that will filter the rust (if any) from the tank.

The reason ethanol is added is different from the 'other ingredients' that make up our petrol.
And so far ethanol blended fuels' availability hasn't been consistent across the nation.

Yes, 'universal' inline filters are available, you just have to chose the right size petrol tube to fix it to your motorcycle. Bike's like the RX100, Samurai, etc.. all came with tiny basic fuel filters. They don't cost much and can be added in between your carb & fuel tank if needed (especially if your tank is a bit rusty).

I am a bit skeptical about these cheap plastic inline filters . Yes I also found these at the local shops , infact my friend is using one on his wind125 . What we found is that these are so cheaply made plastic that they break easily ( even during fitting ) . Can't know how well they do filtration or if they cause any restriction to fuel flow . Moreover our fuel petcock has a build in strainer tube through which the petrol must pass . It's a very fine synthetic mesh and won't pass any rust or other solid particle ( as far as I saw when I took off the petcock for cleaning the tank ) . So I feel uneasy about cutting a perfectly good fuel-tube midways to fit another iffy filter . More joints on fuel tube = more chance of leaks I feel .

                  Need some assistance guys....
My Passion's magnet got some problem. Two of the magnets in my magnet assembly has gone loose and making noise when revolving. I opened it up and applied some araldite and let it set for 1 day. After fitting the noise was completely gone but slowly the noise is coming back and I know it is getting loose slowly. The plastic which separates the 4 pieces of magnet has gone loose. Its a 2004 bike so most of the things a quite old on it. Kindly assist me what should I do. Is there anything we can do or we need to just change the whole thing. I dont know its cost but assuming it to be little costly. If buying new one is the only option then do I need to buy specific brand or anything will work which the hero company gives. BTW I saw denso written there.

Some time ago I read dada's post of carburetor cleaning. I also wanted to know that the throttle pin has a washer sort of thing which has some steps on it 1 2 3 4 and which allows the pin to get inside the carburetor deeply or shallow. I dont know what it is called and I suck at explaining. On which step should we keep the washer ?? I mean 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 ???

Updates: Recently changed the clutch plate because kick starter was slipping and pickup was also gone. Used original hero clutch plates which costed Rs 340.
Left side of the fuel tank got a leakage. Repaired that one also. While repairing the tank I quickly opened the petcock and cleaned it myself which had some brick color powder in it. The mechanics dosnt want to do these small things.

I have never taken out the needle clip to adjust the needle height . Have not noticed the default position of it either , because thought it's best to leave it alone . Anyone else can tell the default position of the clip on the slide needle please .

I am also preparing my Splendor+ for a trip with wifey tomorrow morning to a place in SunderBan forest just beside the river Matla . It's about 100km away from here and the route (NH12/SH1) is unknown to me . Shall be back wednesday . Bike has been too idle for too long

                      Pranab ji,

The passion carb needle has 5 positions.
In default the clip is in middle position. That means it is in 3rd position.

Thanks Dada for quick reply. I have felt quite a lot of difference in my bike with the washer on 3rd and 1st step.
Thanks ranjithp ji for the confirmation. Actually it was on the 3rd step but my mechanic changed it to the 1st position. I know it is now letting more petrol go in. Just wanted to confirm what was the default.
Kindly somebody address my other problem also (magnet coming loose).

Not enough pics for a travelogue really , just a few snaps from my very old camera which ran out of both battery juice and memory ( it takes CF cards ) and wife's phone .
The highway (to the extreme edge of south 24-parganas district of Bengal) is quite narrow with no rules or police whatsoever . Children, cattle & Jugaads appearing out of nowhere at short notice . So I kept between 40 and 50 kmph mostly, touching 60 a few minutes at times - you don't want to be careless where lynching for speeding is not unheard of . At these speeds, my Splendor+ runs pleasantly all day ( and through the night if needed ) . So no events to mention with the bike - it just ran flawless, never complaining . Before leaving I had taken care to check the bike , it's toolbox & first-aid kit , lubed chain & all jointy things , checked the oil and pressured up the tyres etc as is my usual habit . Fuel was regular BP petrol (E10) with AddonP . Here is a short clip of the road NH12 / SH1 from the pillion .

The place is on the estuary of the river Matla known for it's moods . Totally muddy brackish water wasteland . Mangrove forest , crocs too

All transport involves boats , this is how they transport their bikes

There were lots of local travel as we stayed there for 3 days & bottled water is 5kms .

Posting here as I could not find a separate thread for Super Splendor. Are the new Super Splendors having DC ignition? Anyone converted a Super Splendor to full DC?

Are amber / yellow / clear white with no bluish tint 10 watt LED bulbs available for Splendor's blinkers (indicators) ?
