Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Thanks. I didn't have time for insurance claim. My parents are reaching here tomorrow and I couldn't afford give the bike to the ASC and wait for the surveyor to come, assess and then all of us wait for the part to arrive.Originally posted by xwarrior View PostGood to see back so soon . I fought out with my firm wherein we struck a deal at them paying upto 5k out of the total expenditure. Anyways, since the insurance is only comprehensive but not zero dep; I might not have got even 5k from the insurer.
The tank pad is a local make and I got it from SanjayNagar area near Bellary road.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hello everyone,
If you remember I've been asking about the fairing vibes a few weeks back. I was advised to re-mount the fairing with rubber washers. However, a strange observation made me do a bit more investigation.
I ride ~20 kms to and fro office daily. I've noticed that I won't experience too many vibes/sounds for the initial few (3-4) kms. Once I'm into 15 minutes of riding with 6-7 kms, the ride starts becoming rough. When I near my office 15+kms, the vibes are horrible. These are more noticeable when I'm riding on 5-6K rpm and then leave the throttle, so I can hear it more clear in the absence of throttle sound. I've stopped at this stage a couple of times to examine the root cause, and what I found was a shocker. It wasn't the fairing, the sound was from around the engine.
I stopped the bike after 12-15 kms few times, and tried throttling on neutral, just to hear this. The kitkitkitkitkit or krrrrrrr sound, whatever you may call it, increases with increase in throttle. I took my bike to my local mechanic - He says, it is normal for the engine to sound louder after sometime into the ride.
I think the mechanic is not really far from home, and taking the bike to him didn't really show him the extent of the symptom (remember the sound starts after riding for sometime).
So I showed my bike to some random mechanic near my office. He examined the sound and said, replacing some bush behind the timing belt would fix this. As this was a random mechanic I don't trust his words.
I am confused. What do you think?
P.S. I feel so stupid of myself to wrongly diagnose the vibration sounds to the fairing all these months. From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

What engine oil do you use? What's the ODO reading?Originally posted by fast_ferocious View PostP.S. I feel so stupid of myself to wrongly diagnose the vibration sounds to the fairing all these months.
Timing chain issue occurs to most at 30+k mark. Do one thing, after reaching office when you feel vibes are the most; park your bike on center stand and let it idle for a minute or two. Hear carefully. Do you hear a metallic clink? If yes, it's time to get the valve clearances adjusted and timing inspected.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Guys,
any suggestion based on experience for my ZMA's front tyre? Also need another suggestion. Wow, It's been 7 months since I wrote here and it was 7 months and only 3000km back that I got my engine oil changed to Shell AX7. Ideally I would completely change my engine oil now. But should I do that or is it enough if I just top it up?~ long roads winding through dense forests are what I seek..Solitude ~

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
I like stock front tire. Else, you can try Zapper FQ as well. OE Passion XPro tire - exact same specs.Originally posted by rav View PostGuys,

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
ODO reading is 28,875, last oil change at 26000. I am using Shell Advance Ultra (10w40 fully synthetic) right now. Used Motul 7100 before that. I don't think engine oil has to do anything, as the issue has been there for a year now. I will do that observation on Monday at office, and will let you know.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostWhat engine oil do you use? What's the ODO reading?

Thanks.
Get the timing chain tensioner and pad checked.
Most probably any of these two will be worn. timing chain pads and the timing chain tensioner. Get these checked.Originally posted by fast_ferocious View Post
While you are at it get the rockers checked.
But i don't think rockers are at fault as it is not roller bearings rocker.
