Been there, done that.Originally posted by vishnurajanme View PostHi all,
A big issue with my ZMR. I tried to refill the brake fluid. While opening the top two screws in the brake cylinder, I completely made a screw total useless. That screw was not at all opening, I applied great pressure just to flatten the tip of the screw. Now all I can see is a big hole in that screw in which no screw driver will fit as it is almost circular in shape. Guys, please guide me

But before you go ahead source new screws as they are a ***** to find.
Then using a sharper pitch star screw driver, tap with a small hammer, and turn, tap, turn, after a while the screw will come off. This is called the impact method, works every time.Motorcycling Experience:

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Simple. Buy a flat rubber band. Stretch it accross the screw-head. Take the screwdriver, place it on the band and apply some downward force and turn. Let the rubber band twist with your screwdriver and it'll fit the gaps between the flattened edges. Now loosen as usual. Definitely works.Originally posted by vishnurajanme View PostHi all,

Thanks dada!Originally posted by antan_shank View PostCongrates bro!! What is bulb are you using? What temperature of the bulb 4300 K?
Philips white vision 4100k bulb. 4300k though legal, is useless in rain. I'd rather suggest not to go above 3900k. This is a stop gap arrangement for me until I save up and get a good light arrangement.

Update:
At around 62,600 on the ODO I had removed the snorkel. Due to heavy rains feared by the probability of the air filter getting wet and damaged I fit it back at night yesterday. The 27 km ride to office was a revelation!
Vibes have reduced by almost 50%. The pickup seems somewhat reduced, or maybe it is just a placebo effect due to the muted sound.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

If you remember I've been asking about the fairing vibes a few weeks back. I was advised to re-mount the fairing with rubber washers. However, a strange observation made me do a bit more investigation.
I ride ~20 kms to and fro office daily. I've noticed that I won't experience too many vibes/sounds for the initial few (3-4) kms. Once I'm into 15 minutes of riding with 6-7 kms, the ride starts becoming rough. When I near my office 15+kms, the vibes are horrible. These are more noticeable when I'm riding on 5-6K rpm and then leave the throttle, so I can hear it more clear in the absence of throttle sound. I've stopped at this stage a couple of times to examine the root cause, and what I found was a shocker. It wasn't the fairing, the sound was from around the engine.
I stopped the bike after 12-15 kms few times, and tried throttling on neutral, just to hear this. The kitkitkitkitkit or krrrrrrr sound, whatever you may call it, increases with increase in throttle. I took my bike to my local mechanic - He says, it is normal for the engine to sound louder after sometime into the ride.
I think the mechanic is not really far from home, and taking the bike to him didn't really show him the extent of the symptom (remember the sound starts after riding for sometime).
So I showed my bike to some random mechanic near my office. He examined the sound and said, replacing some bush behind the timing belt would fix this. As this was a random mechanic I don't trust his words.
I am confused. What do you think?
P.S. I feel so stupid of myself to wrongly diagnose the vibration sounds to the fairing all these months.Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostWhat engine oil do you use? What's the ODO reading?
Timing chain issue occurs to most at 30+k mark. Do one thing, after reaching office when you feel vibes are the most; park your bike on center stand and let it idle for a minute or two. Hear carefully. Do you hear a metallic clink? If yes, it's time to get the valve clearances adjusted and timing inspected.Originally posted by fast_ferocious View PostODO reading is 28,875, last oil change at 26000. I am using Shell Advance Ultra (10w40 fully synthetic) right now. Used Motul 7100 before that. I don't think engine oil has to do anything, as the issue has been there for a year now. I will do that observation on Monday at office, and will let you know.
Thanks.Originally posted by fast_ferocious View PostOriginally posted by sibun View Posttiming chain pads and the timing chain tensioner. Get these checked.
While you are at it get the rockers checked.
But i don't think rockers are at fault as it is not roller bearings rocker.
Get the timing pads and tensioner checked.
Hi friends!
As advised by you guys, I took the bike to the ASC, and they heard the sound and said CAM chain kit needs to be replaced.
After a month-long hunt I finally got the Cam-Chain kit from some ASC in the other side of our city. So last week I gave my bike to the ASC (who diagnosed the problem to be with the Cam-Chain) and asked for a complete service as well. But later that day the mechanic called me and said that the CAM chain is perfectly fine and doesn't needs to be replaced. According to him the sound was because of the low level of engine oil (he said only ~200 ml oil was found when the engine was drained). It seems the top part of the chain remained DRY and hence the sound.
I took the bike back and he asked me to return the cam chain. The sound is considerable low now, but after I have a long ride of 20+ kms I am still able to hear it (albeit not that much as it was) The mechanic said it would take 2-3 days of use for the CAM chain to get properly oiled, and that the sound will gradually go off..!
My concern is, the sound has been there from before the last 2 oil changes. And each time I've filled in 1 ltr of fully synthetic engine oil. (Shell or Motul). What do you guys think? Should I return the cam chain kit? I am still not sure if they've diagnosed the problem well. (sound from engine after driving from more than 4-5 kms)
P.S the mechanic said that I may sometime in near future need to replace the camshaft.. I don't know what he means.
Please let me know what you guys think.
Thanks. From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hi folks,
Finally was able to spare some valuable time for doing the tappet adjustment and other routine service.
The situation in Bangalore for Hero Honda DIYers is getting increasingly difficult and challenging, first no over the counter sales of even engine oil and practically no spares of nuts bolts, fasteners etc at any Hero showroom spares counter. Majestic Motors, RV road is getting demolished(defunct). Parshawa Motors(Stockist) sells spares like nuts, bolts in bulk, and advises to visit a Hero showroom, who blatantly ask to leave the motorcycle with them in order to get anything replaced.
All generic stores on JC road are equally pathetic. Im sure Divya Sharan and Vijay Bhuyan have had their share of hardship in this regard. The big question here is, what is the solution?

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
After a long search for spares and after (the usual) wrong diagnostics by SVC folks got timing chain kit, chain kit, rockers/adjusters and Camshaft replaced. I was told that the Camshaft almost broke into 2 pieces (don't know if I should believe this) which was causing the sound from the heated-up engine.
The fairing was also refitted and some screw/hinge adjustments were made. There are NO fairing vibes now!
The bike now runs vibe free, and the engine beat has significantly changed (more silent). I will not be testing it with high RPMs for a few days as advised by the mechanic.
Got spares from 4 different service centres across HYD last week. I have questioned spare parts folks at all these SVCs and here is the situation in Hyderabad-Originally posted by VIJAY BHUYAN88 View PostIndeed Bro ,my bikes 15amp fuse was blown last year and it took me good 2weeks time to arrange the same.

-Hero Spares are supplied to the SVCs by one dealer - Venkateshwara Associates. (will refer to it as 'VA')
-When orders are made, the delivery to SVC can take from 2 days to a week.
-It is VERY VERY common that the delivery taken by SVCs has parts missing (usually plastic parts and karizma/ZMR parts) in almost every order made.
-On SVCs contacting VA about the missing items, they are plainly told 'no-stock'.
-SVCs then raise a VOR order to the main office in Delhi/Gurgaon. Hero then sends the parts through courier to SVCs which takes 15-30 days.
I believe the solution lies in the higher level management. They need to learn a lesson from the dropping sales. Looks like they're still happy selling only passions/splendorsFrom variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

Yesterday evening I met the area manager of hero for east zone.
He said the problem is the disturbance in distributor. Now hero is doing online parts order. He said the system will be operational in next march. Just like mgp, there will be hgp.
You can place order online like mgp and get it delivered to your nearest authorised dealer with tracking details.
