Saw this point late, but let me clarify, ZMR v1 be it Hero Honda or Hero; has the same gearing. Even ZMR v2 has the exact same gearing. No changes at all.Originally posted by jack_daniels View Post3. However, the best thing about the 390 is the gearing. I sooo love it. They are so long. ZMR's gears (post Hero badging) are so-so short. Hate it.
First 3 gears are short; hence you get that pull and 4th, 5th are overdrive.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Also, ZMR is a great bike. 390 has such high vibrations. I was surprised. In the petrol bunk, people were asking about the 390, & I told them the bike is so rough. My ZMR was so smooth. To which they told me,"Don't even compare this bike with ZMR. These bikes have no rest (In local slang)." No wonder I see so many ZMR's with the BMW logo upfront.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hi everyone,
I adjusted the tappets and have set the valve clearance to 0.10mm, however i had to endure a lot of hardship with utmost patience in order to carryout this task.
In addition to this i swapped the chain sprocket kit and changed the engine oil.

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hi All,
I need to know which type of RVMs are supported by our ZMR? the 8mm bolted ones or the 10mm bolted ones?
Will this work fine on our bike?

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Got My Bike (v2) from 4th time engine repair 3 weeks ago. Completed 500 kms since the day.
Parts changed:
1) Cylinder
2) Piston
3) Piston rings set (Not under warranty)
4) Valves, both inlet and exhaust
5) Spring judder
6) Gasket (Not under warranty)
7) complete clutch kit (Not under warranty)
Following are the observation as compared to the run-in periods during 3 previous repairs:
1) Pickup: Since complete clutch kit was replaced there was a major improvement in pick-up and RPM-SPEED ratio;
Last 3 repairs: 5th gear,4K rpm, speed below 60 kmph; Struggles to reach 100kmph
This repair: 5th gear,4K rpm, speed 64-65 kmph; very quick to reach 100kmph
2) Engine Sound and vibe: after 100kms the vibes and sound has reduced drastically and it's quite smooth in 4th and 5th gear.
The same cannot be said for gear 1,2,3 and I feel the sound has increased and engine feels grumpy after the repair.
*After riding for 20 minutes in heavy traffic the Metallic sound (which I described many times previously) from the engine is back. It is audible between 3500-4000 RPM
3) Mileage: (calculated for more than 10 lts/400kms at a stretch); avg speed 60-65 kmph
Last 3 repairs: 30-32kmph
This repair: little on the better side 40kmph
4) Engine stalling:
Last 3 repairs: used to stall if any time throttle is relaxed until first 4kms of ride
This repair: only twice in 3 weeks that too only in first ride of the day within 100 meters.
will post next observation after 1000 kms

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hey guys, long time since I posted here! Hope all of you are having a good time with your machines!
I have one doubt. Bike was serviced 6-7 months back and that was the last time the battery was charged. Now, I'm having issues related to battery. Eg, the trip metre and time resets every time I start. The display goes blank.
Will this issue be rectified when the battery is charged again? Or do I have to buy a new one?
Well, the answer obviously is to try the first solution, but then, since it was ages that I posted anything, thought of giving this a try!

Has anyone faced such an issue? And how did you rectify it?

1. First make sure no loose contact in wire connections.
2. Check all the fuses (under the seat and on the right side near battery)
If all ok then go for a new battery, BTW how old is the battery ?RIDE SANE , RIDE SAFE...

So, went to the KTM showroom to test ride the Duke 390 naked bike. But, instead of 390 the showroom had only an RC390 for test ride.
So, took a test ride of RC390 today. Fairly long ride of around 30-35 kms. Here are my observations with respect to ZMR:
1. The power is in no way intimidating for a ZMR rider. In fact, the bike felt pretty tame. The ride is pretty similar to ZMR.Maybe bcoz of 2 factors-
> ZMR's acceleration,
> 390's Metzelers & ABS.
2. Has lot of vibes lower down the rev range. Too much I'd say.
After my Test ride, when I sat on my ZMR, whoaaaa it felt heavenly. It's so so soo smooth. Wowwww. I love my bike. Probably I did gud run-in. A bit Motoman style.!! :respect:
3. However, the best thing about the 390 is the gearing. I sooo love it. They are so long. ZMR's gears (post Hero badging) are so-so short. Hate it.
4. FE is too low though. ZMR's mileage is awesome.
My regular quota is about 4.90 ltrs for Rs.300/- which runs for about 220 kms.
After much thought, I've realised that our ZMR is a brilliant bike. Maybe selling it would not be a gud idea at all.!!
WOW, I thought I was being an unreasonable fanboy when I tested the duke 200 (around 2.5 years back). I too had the exact same experience. After having fun on the duke 200 on a 20 km stretch, I too noticed the same points. As soon I sat back on my ZMR, I had that heavenly feeling, especially because of the low torque in ZMR. Although duke has got very aggressive acceleration and handling, we don't feel like riding like that most of the time. While riding my ZMR after that, I noticed that ZMR's performance is almost same till mid rpm's, although after that the duke clearly sprints away whereas our humble ZMR settles down!
I too was thinking of selling it as I got a little bored. But dropped the idea because of two reasons. One being the price, everyone wants my MINT condition ZMR for like 50000, even though it has done only 16000 kms in 5 years, with precise servicing time to time! Second reason is that I won't get something as smooth and comfy for a 6'3" tall guy like me. All modern bikes are too uncomfortable compared to a karizma/ZMR. I seriously think that I will have to keep (gladly) it for the next 10 years or so!!!

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Dukes are too vibey. Now I know what they mean by vibrations on a Pulsar. But, you can get used to it. Compared to that our ZMR feels heavenly, but it has to be well run in. Like after 4-5 services maybe. Then the real smoothness of ZMR comes out! I think Ninja, R3 will be awesome though. Considering they are parallel twins.

3. The nuts on the battery terminals, tighten them up. Even if they are sliiiiiightly loose, you get similar problems.Originally posted by VIJAY BHUYAN88 View Postabhi7013 Bro in my opinion -

Re: Hero Honda Karizma ZMR
Hi ZMRians,
I first of all thank our member Reneav for giving some valuable advice on my ZMR. I was searching for oil cooler and ASC and local spares shop quoted above Rs.6500/ I was asking as oil cooler, reneav suggested me to ask as radiator. As I asked radiator, they gave the oil cooler which I needed. It was just Rs. 1500/. I have changed the clutch plates also. ASC qouted
1. clutch plates --- 1450
2. pressure plate -- 180
3. steel plate -- 254
4. clutch bell -- 240 Everything approx
total Rs. 21XX.00
I got from outside market
1. clutch plates
(makino brand) -- 200
2. pressure plate -- 140
3. steel plate -- 194
4. clutch bell -- 212
total 750 approx
except clutch plate all others are OE.
After changing clutch plates the vehicle is much smoother and gear shifts are easier and smoother. My bro had a long trip on it around 1000km. The review is positive. When I took the bike for a short 50 km trip I felt the engine heats up much inside the city. Even before changing oil cooler it was lesser, after changing the oil cooler the heat was higher. I cant tolerate it.
Also as the speed rises the vibration rises and the vibration is much harsher in rear footpeg after 70 kmph. What can I do now. please help.
