Hmm. What about tappets? Although I'm not sure if they can cause minor RPM fluctuations, but when were they adjusted last?
And the most basic question, what about throttle freeplay? See if the throttle cables aren't getting stuck.

They were never adjusted. The service guys here don't want to do that. I'll change the plug and filter and report back to you. The throttle cable is fine, there's no issue! :/

              Good evening All folks !!
Zee completed 20700 today and gave the bike for the 3rd paid service.
Annoying vibes are gradually creeping in even after proper chain slack/correct tyre pressure etc. :-(

It has to be adjusted every 4-6k km. (tappets)

1500 kms is the max stock Hero oil can help.

I'll share my routine with all. Some maybe myths but they work for me.

                  1. Morning starts - 90 sec idling at least. (to office)
                  2. No revving above 4.5k or below 3k for the first 4-5 kms daily.
                  3. Absolutely no lugging EVER!
                  4. Idling for 30 seconds after every long city commute (>15 kms or 40 mins) before turning off the ignition.
                  5. Evening starts (ideally a gap of 8+ hours) - 45-60 sec idling. (from office)
                  6. Chain lubed always with grease.
                  7. Chain cleaning every alternate lube session.
                  8. Chain lube every 500 km.
                  9. Full sprockets dismantle + clean + lube every 3k kms.
                  10. Redline for a few sec once in a while every month.
                  11. Always fill in 1100 ml oil (1 L works too).
                  12. Air filter replacement at 9-10k kms. (no compromise)
                  13. Spark plug replacement every 12-14k kms. (no compromise)
                  14. Replace O rings every alternate oil change.

Removed my snorkel again to enjoy the roar. Will be put back in a few days. No harm to engine!
I think replacing the spark plug and air filter at 10,000 KM should be best cause one day on youtube I saw a guy recommended to change the spark plug and air filter at 10,000 KM and his was Yamaha R1 2013 edition . Should it be ok ?

                    Different bikes have different requirements.
I have even changed the clogged air filter at 7500 km due to the dust and dirt in Bangalore.

Spark plugs should ideally be changed at 11-12k as per the manual but then I started using NGK G Power plugs (DPR 8EGP 9A) and they look good even at 14k km. I however, pop in a new plug and keep the older one as a spare.

IIRC, they should be 8mm. Bar end weights are 10mm. Compare the base mounts of the RVMs with the bar end weights yourself and see.

                            • Price list of fairing parts for Karizma Zmr-FI (2011)

                              Hi,
Guys does anyone have the price list for almost the full right-hand side of the bike. If not the list, did anyone get their fairings replaced from the Hero agency ? If anyone has any information, let me know

                              Thanks
PS are spare parts/full fairing kits still available for the older ZMR models at the Service Centres ?

Engine Update after 1000 Kms of 4th repair (V2)
                                -------------------------------------------------------

Summary of 1st 500 Kms: Engine felt smooth in the higher gears and more grumpy in 1,2. Metallic noise after heavy traffic(super heated engine) persists. Fuel Efficiency: 40kmpl at avg speed of 65Kmph (I ride through low traffic roads). Engine stalls only twice that to during first start of the day and doesn't occur after 100 mts of run.

Summary of 2nd 500kms: Engine became smoother but still grumpy in gears 1 and 2. Metallic noise (which the ASC mechanic says is valve noise common in all bikes) after heavy traffic(super heated engine) persists. No Engine Stalls. Increased my average speed to 70kmph and the fuel economy dropped by 0.5 to 39.5kmpl (I ride through low traffic roads), still good.

After 1000 kms got the engine changed at the ASC

Now, comes the disgusting part of the update:

I was gonna post this update from my office, the next day after the engine oil change. But, in the morning as soon as I started the bike I felt it welcome me with an awkward sound which initially I thought to be body vibe but as I inspected the whole bike I couldn't find any awkward vibration from any body part. Th sound was so rhythmic with the engine that it felt like coming from the engine but didn't increase with throttling. I checked everything which I could in my 40 kms of ride to and fro that office day. The pickup was right, rpm-speed ratio was good. I didn't have any problem whatsoever in speeding upto 100 or any new engine grunt while acceleration. But the noise was such that it couldn't be muffled under wind even over 60kms.

The next day I didn't ride it to my office and today being weekend I took it to the ASC(phoenix motors). He inspected the tappets and stuff. Rubbished the sound as body vibe coming as summation of all the loose panels. I asked him to tighten them which he said have developed internal cracks (I don't see any) and needed replacements. I pushed him to check anything else related to the engine. He checked the engine oil level and to my amazement TOPPED-UP THE OIL WITH 90 GRADE CHAIN OIL from the can in a jiffy without listening to my NOs from behind. He did this thing when the supervisor was beside him. The explanation given was 90 grade oil is thin and the mix would me the engine smoother. I asked him to immediately stop his stuff and discharge my bike.

I came out and rode to a shade. Called @Divya Sharan and informed. He asked me to immediately drain out the oil and get new one without starting it again. I pushed my bike a 200 mts and then there was a steep down of 1kms and then again pushed it to 1Km where I saw three lubricant shops where I couldn't get shell or veedol. Divya asked me to adjust for Castrol Power one 15W30. I was not convinced about the genuinity of the bottle as Divya had already warned me about the fake ones. Might be my foolishness but I parked my bike in-front of a mechanic shop and hired an auto-rikshaw to the nearest HERO ASC (not phoenix).

Nowadays, they don't sell oil bottles and had confined them to one of those oil guns so I had to convince the manager very hard to get oil in a cola bottle along with one of their mechanic. He agreed to this on the condition that I would ride to this ASC immediately and get my bike inspected in regular way.

I don't have it left in me to fight once more with the phoenix motors. Except this sound, the bike seems fine AS OF NOW. So, I would again start going to long rides and also long cherished interstate trips. What must happen, will happen. Will ride IF and until the engine is dead, will escalate to HERO, get it repaired again and sell it off (sadly)... but I can't wait this out anymore!!!
