The engine which the Karizma uses is of CRF230.. the ZMR uses the same engine as the Karizma except it is a pgmfi.. the pgmfi is a Honda Technology.. it is used in the CBR & Stunner FI in the Indian Market

Thanks. I checked pgmfi for crf230 but I could find pgmfi only in 250 and 450f.

Some more info I have found. My guess was right PGMFI uses Alpha-N (TPS*rpm) as load sensing and not using MAP sensor for load sensing. So removing snorkel will reduce the throttle input hence less fuel is injected. Keeping the throttle in its least position for the particular speed will improve mileage. For example in highway one reaches the speed of 80 kmph. He just need to reduce the throttle gradually so that there wont be any change in speed. At one point of time the speed starts to reduce just increase the throttle little more to maintain the speed in its least throttle position. This will yield maximum mileage for that speed.

Are you sure your bike has the ZMR engine and not extreme engine mated to FI. Ok, jokes apart, that is indeed a splendid mileage. Most of the members here get 45+ kpl on highways, thats good.Although two guys at my friends shop was saying that their ZMR was returning 30 kpl. I just smiled and ignored as i know how they will be maintaining their rides. Even my friend who has bought the ZMR six months back is consistently getting 44-46 kpl easily. And Divyasharan i accuse you of diverting my mind. Why?Because my heart is sold on ZMR because after riding my friends ZMR i am addicted to its torque and the FI response. Moreover the fuel efficiency is a bonus. But the thing is that my extreme is almost new at 25k on odo and as my uncle puts it better than new bike. So it is not feasible to sell it financially( see the mind of a banker is slightly getting to as father and me both are banker) moreover extreme is running fine with no problem returning a mileage of 50+ kpl with me touching a top speed of 120 kph( same sensor as ZMR so speedo damn accurate). Bike is excellent but miss the torque of ZMR and even low end torque of my JOY. But the top end pull after 6k rpm is ballistic which makes me grin.So your mileage post and also photos posted by members just stirs the heart.

It was made with assistance from Honda but manufacturing is completely based in India I guess.

But if i remember correctly, the Karizma when launched in 2003 had its complete engine sourced from Japan?

Guilty as charged dada.
Yes, kmpl figures are a bonus for this bike. I love the low-mid range so very much. But I must say I rarely ride above 100 kmph even on empty highways. In fact I love cruising in 80-90 range and the bike keeps going and going!

80-100 is when the ZMA engine settles into a comfortable growl that munches up the miles easily, without any stress, it just keeps going.
