    • One of my close friends (his brother) had a horrifying accident. He fortunately came out almost unhurt (only some cuts/bruises and nose bone broken-hit the inside of helmet only due to collision). The rider was doing around 70-80kmph near Nerul (in New Bombay), when suddenly a fellow biker thought he should come to the right without giving the slightest hints and unfortunately this guy was cruising fast and they had a collision. He does not remember what happened after the collision.

He was wearing a MPA helmet which saved his head bigtime and the visor proved that its shatter-proof.

Now the question I want to ask is, as per the photos, most of the bike is damaged including the chassis and forks. Have a look at the photos and advise me if he should go for a repair of the bike or should he not (I mean sell it in scrap). Is it worth spending so much (around 40k including insurance-around 50%) to get the bike done? Coz I feel the bike will never return to "normal" condition.

PS: note the front fork angle change in the second/fourth photo. Also notice the starting part of silencer in the sixth/seventh photo.

      • This bike certainly is repairable. Major damages to front forks, fairing, silencer and maybe clipons only.

The chassis (front part) is bend, the silencer is gone, front mag-wheel gone.

The front part is the forks. They can be changed. I think no damage to the chassis anywhere.

I know that the bike is repairable. My question is... Is it worth getting it repaired by spending so much... or is it better to sell off and get a new bike? As I feel the bike will never return to its normal condition.... there will be some or the other issue always.

It is worth it man. Its nothing major. No damage to engine or chassis. major parts are forks inner, forks outer, alloy wheel. And how is the estimate 40k? Any hidden damages somewhere?

The front part of the chassis (where the faring bracket fits) has bent. Oil leaking from the head. I don't have the exact break-up... but the whole of rear cowl, full tail light, side panels, tank, front disc assembly, forks, faring (+ bracket), right side stay, foot-pegs, silencer, front indicators... some cables and wires have to be replaced (add to this the labour charges). He will give the bike to PBK tomorrow evening and then an estimate will be made.

Oil leaking from engine head is serious. Check this out. Anyways let us know the breakup.

shouldnt cost more than 20k is insurance is covered.

I can't say about the roller bench. But i will be riding on highway on Monday morning. So i will post the report tomorrow evening.
Do try out a comparo between urs and a stock 220 to see the difference in acceleration too.

The can be repaired and can be bought back to its original state provided the PBK correctly estimates the damaged parts and replaces them.

                          • @ Nitrosatya

U still did not tell me if the fit was direct or there was some modification done. Iam asking this specifically because when i tried to search for one, my mech told that other vehicles have a different locking mechanism. Which bike's sprocket are u using?
                            What about the performance difference?

                            @ chetanpulsar

Thats a very horrifying crash. I hope both the bikers are doing fine.
Yes, the bike can be restored to its original form without the bike developing any issues later. I dont see any damage to the chasis. If the parts are in stock the bike can be restored in a maximum of two days.
                            The major damage is
                            1. Front Wheel
                            2. Forks (even the T may be damaged)
                            3. Fairing+Bracket+Headlight
                            4. Silencer
                            5. Wiring (maybe)
                            6. The front part of chasis where Bracket sits can be brought back to original shape. (Mine also got bent in a very minor & silly accident)
                            7. Indicators and Footpegs
All this shouldnt take more than a day provided they are in stock and replaced directly without the trial of repairing them.

                            @all
Has anyone got his Fuel Pump replaced? If yes, what was the indication for their pump going kaput?

                            Update on my bike:
Iam getting a mileage of 46+
Made the mixture so lean that the bike aint revving properly till 4k rpm and the engine dies if put on idling for sometime.

My friend Harish makes custom sprockets for bikes.
The pick up has reduced. But the top end acceleration after 5k is very nice. I can cruise at high speeds at lower rpm. It feels relaxed.
I could not go very fast on my bike. But i will try that soon. Only thing i recorded was that my bike was at 107 kmph at little less than 8k rpm in 5th gear.
In December i am most probably changing the rear to 36 teeth.
