i Very well understand that the pulsar's ecu is not at all programmable.cannot be even meddled with.Originally posted by Andante View PostAll kinds of tuning need special attention, no matter if it's a carbed bike or an FI bike. The carbed bikes are a little easier to mod, since jetting a carb is easier than setting up a new fuel map for an FI system. Not to mention that you would need a fully programmable ECU, which as far as I know is not available for the 220. Thus any mods to the 220Fi will likely cause a fried engine, since you won't be able to push the required extra fuel into it after the mods.
what i meant was will tweaking the ecu alone help in overall performance increase, or should the Fi system also be tampered with ?
we have all heard of after market programmable ecu's .....
mounting an after market ecu on a "test pulsar" and tehn testing it... if the results are better than satisfactory maybe , the pro's can recommend us to switch over to them...
or another possibilty is the ZMR pgmfi....if it is compatible with the pulsar....My BiKe DoEsN't LeAk OiL, iT mArK's ItS TeRriToRy !

Generally, any the injectors available on a bike are more than enough to feed it at the highest RPM and then some, since you need to keep pressure behind the injector for it to work properly. So if you could steer the inject with a fully programmable ECU you would probably be able to accommodate mods like a K&N and free flow exhaust. The trick would be to get the fuel and ignition maps just right for your setup. Considering that the 220FI runs open loop you have no way of knowing if you put the right amount of fuel. You can measure that with an external lambda probe and doing quite a few runs on a dyno. Each time tweaking the fuel maps and/or ignition maps.Originally posted by vid_powerstroke View Posti Very well understand that the pulsar's ecu is not at all programmable.cannot be even meddled with.

The system from the ZMR isn't compatible, different fuel maps, likely not reprogrammable and closed loop. So even if you could fit the lambda probe on the 220FI, you still don't have the right fuel maps.

The ECU in 220 is not re mappable.
The Changes which can be made to the ecu are only increase & decrease in the AFR ratio.
That means more or less fuel can be sent into the engine.
The Fuel supply is increased or decreased at idle speed & the same change remains for the whole RPM.
When U re map a ECU U change the amounts of Fuel U send in the engine at different RPMs as per the desired characteristics of the engine.
I heard there are some after market re mappable ECUs for 220 available in Indonesia but was never able to get 1.
Unless we have something like that we can't do remapping.
All we can do is simply increase/decrease the fuel flow across all the RPM range by the same amount.
it is just like changing to a bigger jet in the Carb.
However in a carb U can get really BIG jets.
Also U can change to a racing carb.
In FI U don have the options.
In the SI the cam angles & the settings are also changed for more power & there is more scope for further changes in it.sigpic
